Well, the candidates for governor, for any political position , do Whatever they want when they're looking for votes, but in the end, they don't care whether we're doing well or not, or what they should be advocating for. In the end, everything becomes a Particular Interest on the part of the winner, since power often corrupts; this is what always happens.
That’s politics, they talk about what ever they want to impress the public and do what ever that will put in something into their bank account, even if that will cost the citizens to suffer they really don’t care as long as they are in office, we should all be aware of this their partial and corrupt way of ruling it’s no longer new to us all.

If enough job opportunities could be created, perhaps unemployed youth would not be addicted to gambling.

You have to see it from that point of view, there is no other way, we must be more positive people, it is a thousand times better that there are businesses that employ people who can contribute,  not everything is bad, also if we go to a closer zoom, the problem of Addiction is not the fault of the Casinos or the industry, it is the fault of the same people for letting themselves get carried Away , now in the moment that is, we must do everything Possible for it to Improve.

Many countries have banned gambling due to religious restrictions, and there are some countries that have banned gambling in their countries to maintain the economic situation of their countries, but beyond that, there are many developed countries that have direct permission to play gambling and there are physical casinos in all those countries. In countries where gambling is officially allowed, all the gambling companies that have online sites in those countries pay annual taxes to the government, and the amount of this tax is very high. What I am talking about here is that even though gambling is banned in a country, the citizens of those countries gamble in online casinos by adopting various secrets, that is, the government of the country does not receive any taxes from the gambling companies in the middle. I think that in all the countries where gambling is now banned, in the next few years, these countries will allow gambling in their countries considering the financial benefits.

There are many countries placing ban on gambling operations in their country on both online and offline, for either religious reasons or as measure towards curbing gambling addiction. But is it making result? while several other countries are rather lifting their bans with less restrictive regulatory policies.

If there's any government officials reading this, it is important you all understand that the ban doesn't in anyway stopped your citizens from still accessing these gambling platforms online with their phones either through VPN. And this evening makes the citizens risk losing their money to the casino whose ToS is against the use of VPN. Your citizens now lose more to these casinos without the country receiving any royalties as revenue raising. Invariably, it all ends in favour of the casinos at the end of it all. Because you can't really stop your citizens from gambling at this digital age, except you plan on manning one policeman to a citizen 😜 , which is not possible.

There are modern better ways to fight gambling addiction such as which I have proposed in my opinion:
> Regularly educating your citizens on national TV programmes about the negatives of compulsive gambling. You can be sponsoring these programmes through the revenues accrued from taxes paid by these gambling companies. Or these companies could as well partner with initiatives and sponsor it.

> Provide skills acquisitions programmes and avenues of adequate job opportunities, because a lot of young people trooping into gambling are doing so as a result of a lack of sustainable means of income which makes them to see gambling is the all embracing means to make money.

I have seen that some country are banning casinos so as to prevent their citizens from gambling in the name of religion but is gambling really a sin? Is it really a bad thing? Gambling has been helpful to a lot of people struggling to survive and banning it in a country isn't going to stop citizens from gambling secretly without the knowledge of the government, and even if they provide skill acquisition or Jobs for citizens they will still gamble but the addiction habit will reduce because we gamble mostly to survive and some of us get addicted to it. Instead of banning casinos and preventing citizens from gambling, it is better to try to reduce the addiction by providing jobs, easy free education access and skills acquisition because honestly gambling can not be stopped in any way but it can only be reduced.

Look, according to their religions, we women should all be covered, so i don't consider them to be developed countries.
What does a woman lack? Why shouldn't men cover themselves?
Do you think these arguments are still valid in 2025? Obviously not, they're just trying to appeal to ignorance.

No, there are a number of countries where the government adheres to Islam - of course, I'm talking about the eastern countries, and there they are very religious, so it is more important to them than profit, so they will never allow gambling in a casino. Well, of course not, there are no guarantees that citizens of these countries quietly, through exchange, enter online casinos and play using cryptocurrencies, for example.

I believe too that country that has high belief on religion that forbid gambling is not missing out on profits because people will avoid it on their own due to their beliefs and even if someone will be tempted to play I think the number will not grow to the level that it will be profitable for operators.

However, on country that has natural high number of gamblers I believe banning it will just make the gambling problem work because people will result to illegal gambling just to fuel their urge to gamble.

Yes, at the end of the day, casinos are going to be operating anywhere.

Countries that don't allow casinos to operate are basically losing money.

It's something that countries should consider, really. They can make a lot of money, but it does come with issues...

When a government is corrupt, they themselves know that the public does not trust them. They try to stay in power. Those governments make new laws only for their own benefit. Whether the public accepts them or not is not important to them. If the government of a country understands this well, they will understand that since they will not stop gambling by banning casinos, they will not want to lose their taxes either. Only when a government is intelligent enough do they take a decision like banning casinos.

Sad truth when politicians speak out of their agenda, most of those words if not all are lies and just to bring votes but most are just promises that will be forgotten after winning the office, relating that to banning gambling businesses, though they are talking about supporting it but most of them in power are the sole protectors of this business, either directly related or they are the one who mostly using their services, they don't care about it as long as they are collecting their shares.

There are many countries in the world that strictly follow their religion, such as most countries in the Middle East. Just as there are many countries in the world that are strict about religion, there are also many countries in the world that are indifferent to religion. The governments of some countries may think that legalizing online casinos in their countries will improve their economic situation, but some countries may go against the prohibitions of their religion and legalize gambling in their countries. I don't really want to argue about these things, but I think that's why I said it like this.

One thing that always seems different to me is that if the government of a country wants to completely ban any site in their country, they can, but they ban all these banned sites in their country in such a way that the people of their country can access these sites using VPN, in this way, banning a site or not is the same thing.

In my country, things are exactly the same. It doesn't take rocket science to understand their agenda. Politicians often talk about restrictions or reforms, but in reality, many of them benefit from the industry. Some are directly connected to it, while others are regular users of these services. At the end of the day, they hardly care about us as long as they're collecting their share.

Well said...
Politics all over the world is now like a business, they spend as much as they can to get the office by all means within their power, and when they finally get there, the first thing is recovering all the money they spent while trying to buy the favour and votes of people. It'll only take an honest government to really decide to ban gambling within their jurisdiction, considering the fact that they usually tax casinos and collect their cuts. And like we know, most of the government we know doesn't have such honestly, because they're mostly concerned about how they'd benefit from something and not whether it'll affect the people.

I think our individual beliefs will have much influence in giving an answer to your question about gambling being a sin, bad or not. Honestly, I don't belong to that religious school of thought which demonize gambling as a sin but rather you get your results from gambling base on how you engage in it. If you're gambling responsibly you would have no issues with addictions and vice versa.

Any government that planned on banning gambling in their country must first planned out job creation opportunities and skills for the citizens. Outrightly banning gambling while the citizens most are unemployed and underemployed,  it's waste of energy because they still find alternatives to gamble in order to make profit from lucky wins.

Most of them after acquiring positions will start to find ways to recover those money that they've used while campaining, you will see them again doing something when their terms needs to re-elect, they will throw money just like they are really care and they are mostly present to whatever events or issues that will gain people interest, then after everything are done and they again retain the position whatever the support they are broadcasting can easily take away by money that will be provided under the table, and just repeat the cycle, that's the sad realities.

You know, it is such a huge missed opportunity for the government. When they ban gambling completely, it does not actually stop people from betting. They just go to offshore websites or use VPNs instead. So all that potential tax revenue just disappears. Instead of taxing and regulating the industry properly, the money flows out of the country completely untracked and untaxed.

Plus, the government misses out on licensing fees and all the jobs that legal casinos and sportsbooks could create. It is like they are refusing to accept that people will do it anyway. So why not make it safer and actually benefit from it? That money could be used for addiction programs or public services. Right now, this whole situation is just making foreign operators rich while regular people get no protection and the country gets nothing.

That is correct my friend. Sometimes the government makes this laws to fight themselves. If one party is has anything to do with a casino and the party is benefiting from the casino. The other party which is the opponent will want to fight against them so they either make a hard laws in other to stop the other party from benefiting as a form of punishment to their opponents. However like you know that the government is very corrupt and they are neither ready to change or want other's to benefit more than them.

Yeah, I agree with that. Politics is a very dirty profession, and I think most of them are corrupt. It's very rare to see a politician who will really abide by the rules. Most of them use their power to bend the law and take advantage of their position to step on others. I am not saying they are all like that, but most of them are.

About them supporting the gambling platforms, especially the local ones, there's a chance they are invested in it, or they are paid to do so. Well, they are unable to play according to the rules, but it doesn't mean they can offer their support and protection in exchange for money.

Yes, at the end of the day, casinos are going to be operating anywhere.

Countries that don't allow casinos to operate are basically losing money.

It's something that countries should consider, really. They can make a lot of money, but it does come with issues...

If legal casinos don’t operate in a country, illegal ones will, those that registered in other jurisdictions and bringing no revenue to the national budget. The internet and VPNs have made virtually any website accessible, so for those who want to gamble, a ban on casino operations in a specific country won’t be a real obstacle. That’s why strict prohibitions always come with losses and an increase in grey shadow activity. It’s better to allow such operations under your own terms than to deal with the consequences of something you don’t control.

snip

I agree with you. Taking it further, one cannot separate gambling from structural issues, more especially economic conditions. If unemployment and lack of good job prospects are endemic, then gambling is a recourse despite the dangers. It is for this reason that outlawing it without addressing the root causes will only push the activity underground. Governments need to prioritize job creation and skills training so that citizens have alternatives that are more and better than relying on "luck" through gambling.
