During their third year of engineering, a team of three students developed a unique interest in Binary Coded Decimal (BCD) logic—a method of representing time using four-bit binary values. What started as a simple curiosity led to a late-night idea: *Why not build a watch that displays time in binary?*
The result was *Vāch*, named after the Vedic goddess of speech, who is revered in the *Ṛgveda*, the world’s oldest known religious scripture. The name reflects how the watch “communicates” time through a series of LED pulses.
Over the course of six months, the team moved from breadboard prototypes to a custom-designed PCB. Along the way, they navigated common challenges—firmware issues, wiring errors, and debugging setbacks—with growing determination.
In the end, *Vāch* became more than just a project. It was a blend of traditional inspiration and modern design—a minimalistic binary watch that visually expresses the passage of time through LEDs, offering both function and a unique aesthetic.
