With the New Tariffs Hikes around the Globe add it with the Government Economy Policies, Central Banks instructed Commercial Banks to increase their charges and that has caused deducting of different levies from customers' accounts. In that you loss money in the banking system more than spending them. That is you loss money when keeping it in the bank from different levies. Cybersecurity levy, Stamp Duties levy, ATM Surcharge Levy, Maintenance Fee Levy, Intra Scheme Transfer Levy, if you send money out from you account, you pay levy, and if you received money from another account, you will be deducted as well. So you pay levy both in sending and receiving. The commercial banking system in this contemporary world is unbearable but we thank God Bitcoin was invented.
In Bitcoin if you keep your money even 20 years, there is no Levies to pay therefore Bitcoin is the best place to keep your funds for your future used. If someone is sending you $200 in locale in the Banking system, the $200 will not complete but the commercial bank would deduct it part and if you keep that money in the bank, sorry is the Word because the levies will be upon the money.

Keep your money in Bitcoin.

I'd like bitcoin holding ever since am into cryptocurrency and I only admit having fiat at hand once am ready to spend in local currency, then I exchange my bitcoin to fiat, while my other portfolio constitutes my holdings as assets which I don't exchange, but rather keep to grow than leaving them in fiat, if we truly understand the role of inflation in our economy today, we are going to discover that fiat is the worst currency we should hold for time, because it's going to degrade in value, aside the charges that will be made on our account going to the pockets of the financial institutions and the regulatory bodies.

I have been keeping my saving in bitcoin since it came to my knowledge that the government is extorting us through banks. This was why I started investing into bitcoin with my extra cash whenever I get paid in other to save my savings from losing value overtime due to the flaws in fiat and the nature centralization.

The problem is that we cannot run away from these extra charges from the government due to inflation and other factors because we must spend fiat in our every day lives. We cannot spend bitcoin that we hodli. We can only save our savings from depreciation but we cannot run away from the taxes impose on us by the government.

My banks charge zero monthly fees, zero deposit fees, and zero cash out fees too. They offer interest 1% APY.

Bitcoin, whenever I made transfer, I need to pay mining fees.

It's not about my intention to grow my money in banks, but I want to show if banks are better in terms of daily transactions.

Bitcoin won in the long run, but it's costly if I use for daily transactions.

The bank charges are outrageous actually but let take a look at it from another angle. If you have $200 as example in your post, after every charges (only ATM maintenance fee in this case if you have one) because other charges can only be deducted when you make a transaction but here we are talking about saving for a year or even more. At the end of a year, you'll have more than your initial balance of $200 including the bank interest of up to 18% on equivalent amount.

On the contrary, you stand a chance of higher profit when you save in bitcoin and likewise, you're likely to wake up one day and see your balance half of your initial saving. You're free from outrageous charges but you're not free fluctuation. I'm not justifying or demeaning any of the above but when we talk about saving with rest of mind, save your money in banks and face outrageous charges. I will only advise you to save your money in bitcoin if you believe in its long term potential and ready to handle risk involved. Both Bitcoin and banks have their pros and cons by the way.

How about cross border transaction? I mean wire transfer. Bitcoin is cheaper if it is wire transfer.

If you want to have cheaper fee, you can use bitcoin lightning network instead. Or you can go for the liquid network or the altcoin pegged with bitcoin price but which I can not recommend.

True, but I have no necessity to send or receive money from other countries.

Still better to use cash, zero fees > tiny fees.

The problem is that we cannot run away from these extra charges from the government due to inflation and other factors because we must spend fiat in our every day lives. We cannot spend bitcoin that we hodli. We can only save our savings from depreciation but we cannot run away from the taxes impose on us by the government.
If the government let people to use Bitcoin as a currency, then they will treat Bitcoin same to fiat.

If you earn $2,000 in fiat and pay $50 based on tax bracket, then if you earn $2,000 in Bitcoin, you also need to pay the same $50 or even higher because capital gain matters.

Same like this which is just currently implemented in our country which we are been slapped with 20% tax by our government on our bank deposits https://www.philstar.com/business/2025/07/14/2457715/banks-slap-uniform-20-tax-interest-income

This is crazy implementation they have done and imagine they made up to the point taking the interest gotten by depositor even if most of us get small return from that institution.

With those things happen I'm really glad that I know Bitcoin because I don't worry much about those things they implement.

I get charged for every money I send.
I get charged for every deposit made into my account.
I get charged quarterly for card maintenance fees.
There are other charges I cannot remember.

I get charged unnecessarily that if I've the opportunity to use only Bitcoin in taking care of my bills (I mean LN, which of course charges lesser fees), I'd gladly abandon my bank accounts. Fiat is a disaster.

The modern banking “ecosystem” (call it that, laugh if you want) is a bureaucratic assembly line for bleeding people dry, one micro-fee at a time. It is engineered for extraction. Cybersecurity levy, stamp duties, maintenance, this, that, next week there will be a “climate resilience charge” or some new way to tax existence. And still, the trust is gone. Nobody reads the fine print. Nobody wins. All upside to the suits.

Banks eat your time. They eat your future.  Even the so-called safe savings melt away. Fiat is a melting ice cube, it has been for ever and will be forever. You can save ten years, and see it melt away, month by month, charge by charge, crisis by crisis, like background noise, like it is supposed to be normal.

Bitcoin changes that. There is no middleman skimming off your inertia. No silent leak. Nobody asking, “Have you considered our platinum account upgrade?” Just code, consensus, a record that doesn’t apologize. If you are lucky, you notice it early. If not, you notice it when it is almost too late.

Seems like there's similarities with your country's banking system and mine or maybe we may possibly come from same location... Having BTC is much more advisable than converting to fiat currency...

Now, beside all you just mention some bank institutions also experience network issues during transactions and in terms of using bank institutions, most individuals prefer using microfinace banks..

So, I'm 100% in support with your idea, BTC is far better than converting to fiat or keeping it in banks..

Keeping money long term is really dumb. Inflation will eat away your purchasing power if you keep your money in fiat. Even if you don’t buy Bitcoin you have to put money somewhere other than a standard fiat savings account. Buy property or stocks or something if you don’t want to be all in on Bitcoin.

If someone is sending you $200 in locale in the Banking system, the $200 will not complete but the commercial bank would deduct it part and if you keep that money in the bank, sorry is the Word because the levies will be upon the money.

Keep your money in Bitcoin.

You're absolutely right, DiMarxist. Traditional banks are eating away at people’s money with endless fees. Bitcoin gives you full control without all those hidden charges — no levies, no middlemen. Just freedom to hold your value.

The most significant advantage of holding Bitcoin is that the price of Bitcoin will grow while inflation will devalue fiat money. I am very grateful that I once learned about Bitcoin and decided to invest my savings in it, it has been giving me profit all this time.

DiMarxist you are right, keeping or saving money in Banks is not profitable and you will be the one losing at the end of the day since you will be paying Cybersecurity levy, Stamp Duties levy, ATM Surcharge Levy, Maintenance Fee Levy, Intra Scheme Transfer Levy just like you mentioned in your writing, however I think there's an exception to this, if you have a huge amount of money and you want to save it in your bank account what you should do is go to the bank and tell them you want to save the money in fixed deposit for some number of years and after that number of years is over the bank will give you back your money and an interest will be added to it, the interest is usually at a higher rate than a regular savings account, and again the longer the years the bank is holding your money the higher the amount and in this years the bank won't charge you for anything or take any Levy from you.
But what you should know is that the interest won't be compared to when you accumulate Bitcoin and hold, if you put your money in fixed deposit for 10 years the interest you will get can't be compared to when you buy Bitcoin and hold for 10 years, so is lift with you to choose wisely.

It’s inflation that should keep us from saving in fiat. Using it for daily expenses is fine since it’s more accessible, but if you’re planning to hold it long-term as savings, that’s where the problem starts.

Over the years, the trend is clear, fiat loses value due to inflation, while Bitcoin has been gaining value because of rising demand. The beauty of Bitcoin is that it’s not controlled by any government, and it acts like a universal money. So for anyone looking to protect their wealth from inflation, saving in Bitcoin just makes more sense.

Keep your money in Bitcoin.

I am sure you are talking about one specific country and not representing the whole world. I personally enjoy zero fees banking since decades. So I don't know what the hell you are talking about! It may be the case in your country, but the situation is very different in many other countries.

I would personally like to keep my money in Bitcoin, only if I am able to pay less/no transaction fees. Otherwise all profits are going to be eaten by the transaction fees for making multiple transactions.

Probably keeping money in Bitcoin works for you but not for many others..

Everyone have seen that the FIAT keeps weakening everyday as a result of inflation which is the reason why most people are trying to protect their money by keeping it in bitcoin. A wise man that has seen how the global economy is right now will know that their money is no longer valuable in FIATs which means that bitcoin is the sure way to make your money still remain valuable but it doesn't mean that all your money should be converted to bitcoins but a large portion of it ought to be in bitcoins. FIAT have failed us, bitcoin is on a rescue mission.

Bitcoin has fees you'll have to pay if you're trying to send out money to someone else address. At times the fees are phigh but other times it's moderate but you'll have to pay a fee at all time you want to send out that money therefore you can't have all the money you received. Why Bitcoin is better than banks shouldn't be because of this reason but because of the main reason that Bitcoin got invented and that's freedom to have control of your money at all times. What happens when you keep your money with banks is that they take control of your money and use it to make more money while you lose when you hold the money in the banks because of inflation.

Yeah the wire transfer analogy makes more sense for on-chain bitcoin.

I use Lightning on Nostr pretty frequently and its awesome, you can send a few sats to people all over the world, and it works just fine 95%+ of the time.

IMO this is the killer use case for bitcoin, micropayments, tipping etc ... could call it "social sats".
