It is just a label since it is mostly a personal occupation.. Professional gamblers are people who are regulars at competitions, or have their income primarily from gambling activities like poker.  In some countries, participants in certain gambling competitions need to register for tax purposes.

True that but we cannot remove the fact that some people get more serious about their gambling activity, either for profit taking or bragging rights.

There is no such thing as a professional gambler or making an income from gambling. Most who call themselves that are either trying to get you to pay them to help you gamble or want to become an infuencer for websites and attract gamblers to their site.

This shows that what you said is true. Sometimes people are lazy to read ToS that are too long or other reasons, but it is very clear that gambling is not to get rich, but to have fun.

Yeah, I actually wanted to do that but most times people hardly trust other site to click on them, I am number one example that hardly click on external like to read through that site, and of course I could had quoted as you said but skip me.
However, I think all these are just belief and people who so much believed on something like professional gambling could like face this, but usually there are people who are losing their wealth just to gamble and if they don't apply knowledge or responsible gambling they could end up becoming broke or even penurious.

If you give a link and people do not click on it but be commenting, that can make them be posting rubbish. If you are doing that, it is better you start clicking on the site also, read what is there before posting. It will help you a lot.

Also do not let what you feel about others make you do something over how you will be a quality poster.

Therefore, nobody can be a professional gambler, because he will end up losing and become an addict in the long run. Is there really anyone called a professional gambler, no i don't think so but if there is, then it's just sarcasm or  myth. No one is actually a professional when it comes to gamble, though we find some people calling themselves professional gamblers because they managed to pull some series of win for a while. We all also at some points in our lives experience series of wins but as luck would have it, we cannot always depend on it because gamble is filled with uncertainties.

I have posted before that anyone that is a mathematician can be able to calculate games expected value and the probability of how they can win. This is enough for them to stay away from gambling if it is about profit for them, or they can gamble and continue to have fun with the games but they know already that they are most likely to lose. Some people are having fun with beers 🍺 and other alcoholic drinks and other things, so having fun with gambling is what some people do. Nothing is a professional about it at all.

In my opinion, choosing a career as a professional gambler is very frivolous. Perhaps some young people do this because of their inexperience in life. But I guess after a while they choose for themselves some other, more reliable way of earning money. Maybe I'm wrong. They exist in reality, and a few of them become successful for this. Of course, we never see them quite often because they don't label themselves as professionals when gambling.

It's too bad to say that gamblers always lose. Well, that seems acceptable in the fact that it is true when doing this in the long run. But why are people still gambling? Because this is not all about money and winnings. But also a learning experience. And from that experience, many people had changed from beating to being responsible when it comes to money management.

I don't know how this sounds to others but to me I don't really go with the idea of gambling as a professional, is there anything like being a professional gambler? Trying to live off gambling is really not ideal. Imagine depending on something that is not assured for living, I think you will only end up making things worse for yourself and also being a professional means it's a full time job for you so the possibility of being addicted to it is high even if you are maintaining good gambling habits.

I don't believe in the word Professional gambler is you will still end u relying on luck. No matter the analysis your predictions in these games are not 100% sure and why call yourself a professional when you still need luck to succeed.

I would never ever throw away my job for that. I'd rather not become a pro gambler.

The thing also when you become a professional gambler, you can become arrogant and prideful. When you think of yourself as a gambler who is better than anyone, this is where it can go wrong. IMO, it's best if we think like we are always a newbie. Learning new things is more fun than being a person who knows it all, but just lying to himself.

In poker, there's different people who have different strategies. Sometimes watching them can help us learn more about the game and how people think when they are at the table.

It's true, it can become a chaotic life once we enter the world of professional gambling. Having a manager will probably help financially, and it will be less stressful if there's a contract included, win or lose.

I never dream to be a pro poker player or a pro gambler. That can give me bigger risk because I don't know how much money I will lose. I don't care if they can have a chance to big win, freedom to travel or other things like @OP's mention because the risk will be bigger and I cannot hold it. I don't want to consider a career at the card table or pro sports bettor. I can not afford more money than I used before because gambling is just a fun activity for me that I do occasionally.

I do take issue with you claiming "blackjack expert" or "roulette wheel spinner" could ever be defined as a professional gambler. If you are card counting, the only way you could possibly win this game long term, then you will get kicked out of every casino eventually and it is non viable. Roulette wheel spinner? As if there is any skill involved whatsoever, you have no control in this game and the odds dictate that you will lose your money to the house, so how can you ever become a professional in that scenario? If you had mentioned poker, that is a serious game that very intelligent people can make into a job.

Well I haven't seen someone who is a professional gambler. Like it is only gambling that the person does for a living. I don't really think that something like that exists. If there is anything like professional gambling, there should be an institution that will be graduating and awarding degrees to people as professionals in gambling. You can't call yourself a professional without a degree in that field. Without a degree or a professional body to certify you, then you are a quack. Therefore there is nothing like professional gambling. Gambling is a game of luck and chances. Taking it as your lifetime career is digging your own financial grave of lifetime poverty.

All is true but is professional gamblers always winning? or one can be considered a professional gambler based on experience, bankroll even though he is losing? or was a professional gambler can also have a low bankroll? I'm not sure what could be the exact definition of that. I only know few professional gamblers and most of them is in either good in poker or sports betting, I haven't encounter a professional gambler that specialty is slots and other kind of casino games.

The only same thing that I see with those professional gamblers are most of their game can be predicted or use an analysis or strategy in order for them to earn.
