If I want to compare between gambling and alcohol the one that is more harmful and it's addiction can be very damaging than the other I'd say that it's alcohol. From my point of view, its harder to get addiction to alcohol, when gambling makes people addicted much easier. The gap between "I can not see my day without alcohol" and "one more drink and I will feel sick" is huge. While gap between playing once or rarely and becoming addicted gambler is only one really big win away. Or gambling can make you broke in a second, while it takes months or years for alcohol to mess persons mind.

Btw, example with alcohol legalization, restriction and ban are great examples that all those methods dont work as a solution for addiction. There are countries where alcohol is forbidden, yet people still find where to buy it. Selling alcohol after 8 or 10 in the evening is forbidden, yet people still manage to buy it or drink from supplies.

Anyway, even though alcohol drinkers are more than gamblers, I find gambling more dangerous because its harder to spot addicted gambler and more harder to convince him to treatment. I also think that treatment from gambling is a much longer process.

It’s sarcastic how some substances or activities are legally allowed even with significant risks while some other less risk ones are not allowed and the law punishes the users or consumers. I believe we also can compare how adult content in some regions is allowed and being promoted in special places, TV, magazines… while gambling is strictly prohibited.

Talking about alcohol with the drink responsibly warning, that’s just how the world works, as long as that country is earning money from the industry of alcohol, they will allow advertising for it. Whatever addiction it is, in my opinion, both can be detrimental to the person on their own ways. Because they have their certain negative impact to the person who is addicted to it. Whether being alcoholic or gambling addict, there's certain part in their lives where it can truly affect their way of living. I have grown up with the impression casinos are more legally obliged to inform their gamblers about the risks of gambling addiction, even more than brewers are required by law to talk about alcoholism to their drinkers. I don't know why, though.

In fact, alcohol advertising is not allowed everywhere in public places, and even less so on television (especially during prime time).
In the country where I live now, alcohol advertising on TV has been banned, but it's funny how alcohol producers try to be cunning. Yes, high alcoholic drinking also causes high suicide risk, but often gambling addiction is condemned and people are afraid to show it. With a lot of addicts not telling their losses and how stressed they are and hiding it and acting normal it makes it so hard to see to find and help them. Anyways while this two addictions are very harmful, i will say gambling is special, because it can not be detected easily and the high probability that someone has to hold all the burden by himself.

You're right. In gambling the ads cannot be controlled, very high billboards, famous influencers, popular website and even football jerseys are medium for advertisement. It's a normal thing now and can be seen almost everywhere we go.

What makes gambling more dangerous is the mental health. When one is addicted it damage the persons silent till it become worst. Many relationships are broken because of gambling and still people are still finding a way to come out of depression as a result of gambling.

You are absolutely right, when it comes to gambling and drinking of alcohol, both are super harmful when addiction get involved, but then, gambling is way worser than drinking, and this is because it doesn't cost much for an alcoholic to get high and possibly rest or take a break from drinking at that very moment.

But for a gambling addict, he may spend every penny he has on gambling and won't be satisfied, this can be very frustrating 😤, which is what usually leads to anxiety and depression, which in turn could lead to suicide.

You damn right that's the worst place any individual could ever find themselves, it's enough to be an alcohol addict, coupling it with gambling addiction is just complete suicide. I mean even a normal gambler who's not even addicted could even end up making wrong gambling decisions when he gambles while drunk, so I'm trying to imagine how severe and devastating the impact would be for someone to have both addictions.
