Maybe not. Shopee is known for very cheap items and I doubt there will be people wanting to pay in bitcoin. And is bitcoin that big in south east asia? But I thought that if bitcoin gets accepted in shopee, it will be a huge sign of adoption.

With the populatity and adoption of Bitcoin I believe that businesses wouldn't mind to accept it but most customers prefer to make payments in traditional currencies but if the demand to make payments with Bitcoin increases they would not have much option than to accept it. E shops and every street corner shops want to make sales and I know that with time they will be giving their customers the option of making payments in Bitcoin afterall it is an alternative currency. We need to give Bitcoin a chance, it is a volatile currency which most holders prefer to hodl for investment profits. I personally prefer to keep my Bitcoin for investment while I spend my traditional currency for payments, many holders also prefer the banking system which they have been conveniently using for payments.

We can't say it's impossible, who knows in the future they will apply it to reach a wider market. If for the market in Southeast Asia, maybe to enforce the acceptance of Bitcoin in transactions on these online shopping sites cannot be applied due to regulations. If their target reach can go to Europe, who knows they will support payments using Bitcoin to make it easier for their users.

They also need to adapt with the country's regulation. From the countries you mentioned above, three countries i.e. (Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam) only allow to trade and hold, but it's illegal as a payment tool, so definitely those countries aren't possible. I don't think it would be successful, many people in third world countries are poor and not understand about technology, some of them also stupid as hell. They prefer to use Cash On Delivery even though the apps already offered banking payment and e-money.

Accepting bitcoin payments will benefit it and help BTC become more popular but if we stand in the position of the business. Honestly, I don't see any benefit to them or their customers so I don't think they will implement it anytime soon. Most of these online shopping platforms have return and refund policies. Just think, how complicated and costly would it be for businesses to issue refunds when the price of bitcoin fluctuates hourly? Not to mention transaction fees are also a problem because most of the items on Shopee are cheap items, as you mentioned. By the way, Uber has not officially accepted direct payments in bitcoin or cryptocurrency, it is all just plans. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/uber-once-again-considering-crypto-030119942.html

As far as I know, there seems to be no final announcement about that matter op, I guess the management of Shoppee has not finalized whether they will make or include bitcoin as one of their major payments in their online shop, so far it is not at this stage as far as I know. So, for now, their normal or regular payments are still the ones they have implemented on their platform for their regular customers, but I hope this will happen not only with bitcoin but also with other cryptocurrency assets.

When Bitcoin was starting out I also thought it would be great if more physical and online stores can accept crypto as a form of payment. Now? It really doesn't make sense to me why businesses wouldn't opt for their country's safer and official payment services for security reasons.
The only way I see why E-shopping sites would ever consider crypto were if somehow, using crypto allows for faster transactions with less fees. Which could happen for international E-shopping services for non-refundable e-commerce products I suppose. Volatility of crypto is less of an issue in my opinion.

I didn't know about the existence of Shopee because, as I understand, it's a regional website and not a global one. It's a very popular website in South Asia. E-commerce websites can accept Bitcoin at any time but they don't do it because there are regulatory issues. They also need to sell products ina stable environment and it's not an easy task to accept Bitcoin transactions within a few hours and not be affected by its volatile price. I believe that soon there will come time when major e-commerce websites will accept Bitcoin payments. Is Shopee in the list of top 10 e-commerce websites? Is it nearly as popular as Amazon, eBay and Etsy If it is, then Bitcoin adoption by them will be a very good sign and it will leave its footprint.

Yeah, probably. Some already do & more might in the future if bitcoin gets easier to use & more stable. But it depends on stuff like laws, fees & if people actually want to pay with bitcoin instead of cards.

Will E-shopping sites ever accept bitcoin?
There are several financial network methods that are used by Shoppe to send and receive money to shoppe accounts, such as spaylater, spinse, seabank, other banks and insurance all as far as I do not use crypto or bitcoin. Other networks used by shoppes, such as Astrapay, Dana, Gopay, Linkaja, OVO are all used Fiat money, I have used shoppe shopping sites for almost three years, for now no one uses Bitcoin. Yes, Shoppe is one of the largest sites in Asia, they should accept crypto payments, which knows maybe in the future, but for now there is no crypto circulating there including Bitcoin still with Fiat.

I wouldn't say it's impossible because when Shopee is in countries that don't prohibit their citizens from making payments using Bitcoin, why not. This means that the company must know how the regulations in their country operate like in countries like Vietnam, Indonesia and some of these Southeast Asian countries. So far in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines, I know there are several electronic payment methods that they accept. I think it's because of the rules that apply in those countries like mine. I know that because I am a Shopee user.

Some already do via bitpay I believe. The thing is bitcoin took a big reputation hit because of the spam attacks that raised the transaction fees temporarily. Lately the fees are way lower but the damage is done already. People think high fees can return anytime, that’s why they hesitate to use btc as a currency. That’s why businesses don’t bother to invest in the infrastructure. It is because bitcoin transaction fees are not reliable. Yes they are cheap now but nobody knows what will happen tomorrow. Businesses would rather invest in credit card payment systems and customers also follow the same path because it is way more convenient. The situation might change for the good in the future but it is what it is now.

ShopeePay: This is Shopee's digital wallet, allowing you to store funds and make payments both online and offline. SPayLater: Shopee's "buy now, pay later" option, allowing you to pay for purchases in installments. Google Pay & Apple Pay: These digital wallets can be used for payments on the Shopee platform. Linked Bank Account: You can link your bank account for faster payments and top-ups. SeaBank: Shopee users can pay via a linked SeaBank account. Offline Payments:Cash on Delivery (COD): Pay for your order with cash when it is delivered to your address. Cash Payment at Physical Stores: You can also pay in cash at participating convenience stores. Payment Centers/e-Wallets: Shopee supports various payment centers and e-wallets like GCash. Other Payment Methods:Maybank2u: Shopee users with Maybank2u accounts can link them for faster transactions. Installment Plans: Shopee offers installment plans for certain credit cards. Remittance/Payment Centers: You can also pay at Shopee-supported remittance and payment centers. Over-the-Counter: You can deposit payments at participating banks. Bank Transfers: You can perform ATM or online banking transfers to Shopee's designated accounts. Source
If we do tend to look up with those payment options then we can say that it is that almost complete or everything but it do lacks up with crypto and for sure they might be already wary about this stuff but still decided to have that kind of observation mode but if ever they would be that accepting Bitcoin payment then it would be a good news because it do shows that recognition and adoption, but for a person point of view then would you that really actively be spending up your Bitcoins on purchasing something, if you can be able to do it with fiat? For sure we would be that thinking that spending out our precious Bitcoins is that such a waste if we can actually be able to buy it with fiat and hold our coins then it would be the preferrable way. The thing here is that we do have that option at least.

Most of the big companies not touching this because they are well aware about consequences of this while many countries are bringing regularly changes into their policies about crypto and bitcoin which is the biggest problem for them. Difference of lifestyle is also having issues as mentioned many developing countries are having no things like these, so companies can go ahead in few regions or countries but not for all which is another problem but still countries policies and regulations are having serious hurdles for them which are never been easy to avoid and go ahead. Bitcoiners can hope things will take changes, and they will be able to have this on few companies agenda because this could be also huge success for crypto if happen even takes time.

But I thought that if bitcoin gets accepted in shopee, it will be a huge sign of adoption.
I believe what's the major setback is that Bitcoin is banned in most Asian countries like China, North Korea, Taiwan and others, so you don't expect them to accept Bitcoin whereby their countries are against it. If would simply put them at rough edges with the government and that would be the last thing the businesses needs to thrive. ASAP the ban is lifted, you'll see that they've instructed in place to integrate Bitcoin for payment option. The restriction is the only problem hindering actual integrations. For Shopee, they've branches in countries that accept Bitcoin, I think they could integrate Bitcoin payments for people in those countries. If Bitcoin comes into e-commerce, it would sound really good to the Bitcoin community and can foster more adoption since it's usability has expanded.

Are you aware of the e-shopping site called Shoppe? This platform was first launched in Singapore in 2015 then reached to Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines. Basically covering the south east asia. It got me thinking how Uber accepted bitcoin and I wondered if is it possible that e-shopping site accepts bitcoin?
Maybe not. Shopee is known for very cheap items and I doubt there will be people wanting to pay in bitcoin. And is bitcoin that big in south east asia? But I thought that if bitcoin gets accepted in shopee, it will be a huge sign of adoption.
I am not aware of the e-shopping site but one that has been very popular in my country is Temu, located in China. They came into the Nigerian market with very aggressive marketing and they were everywhere and anywhere you think that human interactions takes place on the internet. But they cannot accept bitcoin even though it will have been great. Since it is the regular non-bitcoin people that mostly shop there, they had to fix any cross border payment issues that may come up and made it easy for people in my country to be able to use their cards to make direct payment using our local bank cards. Bitcoin may get accepted in the future and I look forward to it.

You made it clear that they came from China which banned Bitcoin outrightly, and came to important in Nigeria which obviously isn't very friendly to crypto currency transaction , making it a double disadvantage for crypto payments to be accepted. Maybe if Nigeria government is more open to crypto dealings within the country, Temu might adjust easily because I see great flexibility in that company although I still view it as scam for personal reasons and the way they bug people with promotional emails and notifications

Some already do, isn't that the whole point. I mean we are not going to overnight see all of them accept, but some of them already do accept. Plus, the big ones will start to accept with more and more nations and governments start to make it more common. I remember clearly when one time Steam accepted bitcoin payments for a while, don't think that's still possible but I remember that.
So believe me when I say this, we are getting a lot of people who are doing a lot of job on this, and we are going to get more and more websites accepting with time. As long as we have that, we are going to be fine, and when we grow big enough and big companies see that small companies make money that way, we will see amazon level of companies start to make it accepted too.

Why not? Bitcoin is not just for expensive stuff. With Layer 2 solutions micro-transactions are becoming more and more plausible. Even if you only accept Bitcoin and few people use it, it shows you are innovative and forward thinking. For an e-commerce provider that is competing with other e-commerce platforms, this could be a significant differentiator and win PR wise. It looks cool and its the wizzy thing to do!

Shopee could implement this, as it's not impossible, although most people probably wouldn't use Bitcoin to pay for affordable items on Shopee. When we still have money to use for payments, it wouldn't be logical to give up Bitcoin just for a specific, affordable item on a platform. For an investor who already has a strong belief in Bitcoin, it would be unwise to throw away Bitcoin to get a cheap item on a marketplace like Shopee, especially since the platform already offers many other services accessible to everyone in Southeast Asia. Meanwhile, Bitcoin's popularity in Southeast Asia has actually increased significantly, as I can see from the number of Bitcoin transactions and investors in Indonesia. This is also likely the case in other countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, and the Philippines, so I assume most Southeast Asians are already quite familiar with Bitcoin.
