Many miners discuss rising costs and energy waste here. I’ve been experimenting with reusing the waste heat from liquid-cooled miners (~50–60 °C) to run a membrane distillation unit. The process turns that “waste” into distilled water — which can be reused for cooling or sold in coastal areas. Curious if anyone has tried something similar for off-grid farms

I'm thinking about setting up a small Bitcoin mining at home, mainly to learn and maybe earn a little BTC over time. I’m not expecting to get rich. I just want to see if it’s even worth trying in 2025. Any tips on setups? Appreciate any help or advice you could share. Thanks!
Sure you can mine but I think it will take you time before you can mine out something reasonable because of how expensive it is you can't just start it and you start expecting quick returns, this is what will take enough time and more money to win.

Is home mining worth it yes absolutely but not the way you think.

A if you need...

Love this breakdown and summary. Will be saving it for future reference.

Yes, thats a very good breakdown if you are planning to start mining at home.  But keep in mind that these are just rough figures and that philipma did not mention many other factors that can affect your profitability. For example, mining difficulty that will inevitably go up, risk of hardware failure, etc.

Touche, yes. I was taking their comment from the angle of "you're not going to make money" ... which is what you're saying, too, just a little more direct.

To my mind home mining is interesting to build up some knowledge.

Personally i expect pv modules getting even cheaper ober time while you dont get anything for your electricity while production is high. Mining seems to be a perfect combination as you may easily scale up/down your power consumption by 5-10x

Bitcoin mining in 2025 can still be profitable, but it depends on factors like electricity costs, mining hardware, and Bitcoin's price. If you have access to cheap power and top-tier equipment, you might make a profit. However, with increasing difficulty and halved block rewards, it’s harder for small miners to stay competitive. Most people now join mining pools to get more consistent payouts.
