I heard of a discussion the other day, that some high stakes poker players aren't really rich themselves but will rather play with other people's money.
There's a suspicion of money laundering but the justification can be something else also. Some tournaments have rules where you can give your seat to anyone to play with your stakes. So some millionaires who like poker will prop up a decent poker player just so they can have a seat on certain tournaments and play a little bit themselves.
It does make a little sense if you think about it. Some millionaires fund specific teams so their sons can have a spot for instance. So it doesn't sound that weird. On the other hand, poker is a little different. I'm not sure if tournaments like this exist. Or perhaps they're tournaments that aren't broadcasted.
If anyone has any insight on high stakes poker feel free to clarify.
