Is KuCoin a scam? Destructive reviews on trustpilot

I considered using KuCoin (based in Singapore) because a friend told me that they have a KuCoin card and they do not share information with foreign governments.
I have done nothing illegally, but I do value my privacy.

So I read into KuCoin and found reviews on trustpilot.
It gives them a score of 1.5 out of 5 and there is a huge list of traders who lost their funds.

What are your experiences with this place?

I don't think that Kucoin is a scam, because I haven't heard of any scam allegations on the exchange and everything is running smoothly when using the exchange. You should know that in every exchange, there will always be p2p traders that will likely want go scam you if you fall for them. That doesn't mean that it was Kucoin exchange that is the scam, because if they find out such person, his account will be blocked. You should also note that Kucoin is only an exchange where you buy and sell crypto pairs or use for p2p trade converting your cryptocurrency to fiat and not a wallet to store your assets. If you are planning to buy bitcoin, it's good that you use an open source noncustodial wallet like Electrum or Blue wallet to store your funds for safety.

I have been using kucoin for years but never had any misfortune of getting scammed nor seen anybody having the same thing. I have had countless deposit, trade there as well as p2p deals, and like i said never a issue. So I'm not sure whether it is a scam. I have user other cexs like binance bybit the experience was the same as kucoin. Anyway, even if it is a reputable exchange it is always advised to not to use cex's to store funds. Because they can confiscate it at any times. Remember not your keys not your coins. If you are looking for a short trade, or p2p deals, (beware of scammers, only choose merchant with high tradecount and reputation) I believe there isn't anything to worry about. Just my two sats...

I haven’t really heard anything that bad about KuCoin, to be honest. I follow crypto news closely and chat with plenty of traders on social media, and while ages ago people used to joke that KuCoin didn’t have a “real” office (same goes for Binance, by the way), that’s pretty normal for crypto exchanges.

If you’re concerned about exchange reliability, maybe look into Bitcoin payment processors too. They mainly work with businesses but many now also welcome individual users. The oldest is BitPay, but if privacy is important for you, BTCPay Server is worth checking out — it’s open-source and self-hosted.

If you want something easy to use, with fiat options and features you’d expect from an exchange, try a wallet like Cryptomus. They don’t share your info with governments and they use dynamic addresses to keep balances private. NOWPayments is also good — they support a big list of coins.

One piece of advice though: be cautious with services that promise “no KYC ever” — they can often be riskier than they’re worth

We all have differing experiences of using KuCoin and that depends what where you are in the world.

For me my experience using the exchange has been a pleasant one. The only time I got pissed with them is when they delisited my country's currency and P2P feature but still charge a tax which I thing is remitted to the governemnt to continue to allow them to operate in the country.

Aside this, everything has been great and pretty smooth with them. However, if someone has a bad expereince, they are free to move on to the other top exchanges. The key word is top exchanges.

Kucoin is one of the exchanges with quite good reputation in the market and so far, I have not heard any allegations about them. Even though I don't use it often, but like everyone else, I've never had any problems whenever I use it. So far, everything seems fine and smooth.

I just checked on CMC, this exchange is ranked 9th among the top exchanges and on coingecko, this exchange is ranked 12th and rated 9/10. So you can completely trust to use it.

This is why in Bitcoin there's an idiom "don't trust, verify".

Even you trust your friend for many years, it doesn't mean you can trust him 100% regardless he had no intention to scam/give false information.

Service providers can be many thing, it could be their sister company or even government because they're accepting banks.

Whether Kucoin is scam/shady because they only got 1.5 from 5 on trustpilot, it's not always true, AFAIK Kucoin is still legit. The same thing happened to Binance, they only got 1.6 from 5 on trust pilot https://www.trustpilot.com/review/binance.com

But, most people hold their coins on Binance and their coins are still safe.

What I noticed about Kucoin is that their withdraw fee was too high for me. Far higher that other exchanges that I am using.

Another thing is that they started to implement taxes. This one is the main reason I stopped using the exchange.

About the bad review, check other exchanges, you will noticed that they are all reviewed not that good on Trustpilot also. I do not know the reason but the exchange was not bad when I was using it except those two things that I mentioned.

I have used KuCoin for some time now, fast and reliable. I've never had a problem trading XMR -> USDT -> EUR.
Just as with any other exchange, divide large amounts into smaller ones and never send the next portion until you have withdrawn the previous one.

As far as I know, Kucoin is one of the reputable exchanges at the moment. I have been using Kucoin for more than three years now and never have problem with them. Regarding the review on trustpilot, I can't disregard it since everyone has a unique experience using any platform. One thing I know is that a user region also contribute to this exchanges treat them since they are operating according to region jurisdiction.

KuCoin is a well-known, established exchange with a good reputation. I've been using it for a long time with a KYC verified account, and I haven't experienced any problems during this time.

Every user has their own personal experience. Some accounts are not without problems. Sometimes, some users cheat or commit illegal acts, or they may encounter a problem and receive a weak response from support. Therefore, they submit negative reviews on Trustpilot. However, this does not mean that KuCoin is a scam.
So, from my personal experience (apart from being a centralized exchange) it's a good exchange.

If you value your privacy, you won't use a centralized exchange with KYC like Kucoin.

Much better if you don't fully trust the reviews given on Trust pilot but just make this a guide to be more careful dealing on the platforms you are inquiring.

For longest time I'm using kucoin but never encounter any problem with them. Maybe those people just expect to win on their trades and suddenly lose due to some bad market movement also poor decision making then create bad reviews as part of revenge.

This situation is happening that's why I don't pay much attention on that thing unless if the feedback came from the community of Bitcointalk since we could read lots of real time reviews coming from legitimate people in this platform.

It is understandable you are thinking about privacy and looking for good way to cash. And your research about KuCoin showing  low Trustpilot score of 1.5 out of 5 and many complaints about lost funds is huge red flag. This is showing serious issues with security.

Cashing out large amount of crypto while trying to keep your privacy is indeed tricky but given KuCoin negative reviews it is smarter to look for other reliable platforms even if they require more identity checks or consider well regulated P2P options to ensure your funds are safe and accessible.

But if you ask me I personally use KuCoin but I didn't face any issue. They have high withdraw fee and minimum deposit threshold just due to this I rarely use KuCoin.

I didn't use Kucoin myself and I don't have experience of using this exchange but I know many people who work there without any problems si far. Kucoin is a well-known exchange and got a good reputation. Trustpilot cannot be a reason to say if Kucoin is a scam or not. You can easily spend money and ask people to give positive or negative feedback on Trustpilot by offering them a small amount of money. This is what many other platforms do.

Don't always trust on what is posted on the internet, they are not mostly the actual condition or situations, try to engaged in making your own research for yourself and know, trust pilots and online reviews are not trusted to a certain extent, we may have to intensify more deep in knowing about the actual situation with an exchange, Kucoin is not a scam site base on my knowledge, but some can say bad of it online for any reason base on their personal experience.

Why not consider decentralized exchanges, for your privacy only if you really what to deal with large amount of money.
