I don't think the US politicians really cares about this because we have been seeing different donations for other countries like Ukraine and under developed countries to support them  while Americans keep struggling to survive. This idea looks primitive to me if the citizens are the only one participating in this and instead the money that is being pumped on allies and neighboring countries to maintain rapport should be directed to a separate account so it can be used to clear some of these debts. Maybe I'm not really making a sense here but accumulative efforts would make a great sense.

The total US debt is close to $36.65 trillion and the country have received about $67.3 million since 1996. How long will it take for these donations to offset the debt maybe a century. The problem with the US is misplaced priority. Instead of seeking for means tot reduce public debt they are busy spending money on wars and others things that doesn't contribute to the prosperity of the US economy.

Supporting developing nations or those in needs are not bad. The US can give aids or grants to nations that are suffering from natural disasters, wars and others but sponsoring wars instead of using diplomacy is expensive.

What I don't understand is how USA will be the biggest donor to poor countries that needs aids and fund wars for their allies then depend on their citizens to help pay their dept. My question is where these citizens among the decision makers when they where collecting loans? And where this citizens that they are asking to help offset their loans part of decision making on countries to fund for poverty alleviation and wars? If the answer is no which is obvious then they should cut cost on most of their government expenditures and have reserves to service their dept. I think America, is bigger than asking their citizens to help pay their dept, except maybe big corporations that are benefiting massively from the American government.

Does he donate a significant portion of his earnings to pay the national debt or does he expect that average citizens should pay out of their pocket and it's not Donald Trump's or other billionaires' duty to pay national debt? It's a crazy way to reduce national debt, they might only collect a few million or in the best case, few billion dollars but it won't be enough for paying even 1/100 of such a huge debt.

No no, you can donate in other ways too. The issue here is that Venmo is a funny money payment method that somebody wouldn't expect to see in an official government capacity.

The most popular use cases of venmo is for craigslist listings or splitting bills or something like this. Small instant payments. Kinda like paypal but more convenient as in the US the documentation required is less strict for small amounts.

Obviously this program to donate towards the debt isn't working. If only the US government wanted to stop imperialism they could put their debt on Track, but that doesn't seem to be the case as government after government wants to expand the military industrial complex.

Everybody is welcome to spend money they earn in any way they wish but workers do their bit to pay off the National Debt via income tax any way. Our governments don’t care about us so I would suggest that nobody sends any money to this Venmo. P.S. Depending on technicality, it isn't actually the US government that prints this money but yeah, they're still responsible for all that printing and rising debt. Use to remember being taught that central banks (or whichever entity in the Fed Reserve in this case) are there to advise and prevent governments from excessive spending so hey maybe the Fed Reserve knows something I don't.

I don't think it started since Trump sat.  Its been this way for a long time. This plan has been set before Trump. Whichever is the president, this will still happen because of the policies, de-industrialization and wars.

If US ends up printing more like the countries who defaulted, it will take a decade or more because the plans for using stablecoins is already running through the Genius Act. USD will still be used widely but its value may really shrink.

It would be a good distraction from their corruption though. When the average American is struggling to make ends meet, they can't ask questions about stuff like "why do our politicians including incumbent president Trump, rape children?" ie. the filth in the Jeffrey Epstein case... Or "why does a terrorist organization called Israel run a child rape ring inside US soil for US politicians and decision makers, recording them and then using it as blackmail?"

I am wondering if the national debt is now going beyond a control measure in US? I know it's in trillion but compared to the overall GDP of US, it should still be manageable by the administration.

The Venmo part isn't the most important issue in such case, perhaps they're affiliated or something (maybe their CEO is a republican haha), it is actually questionable. The most ridiculous part of this is that they're asking for donations on a huge debt that will never be repaid and is solely their own responsibility. Perhaps they should start selling the private jets Trump is flying on, or the expensive limo costing up to $1.5M, but requesting free money, the taxation isn't enough, seems a much better choice.

What a funny and unserious way to reduce a national debt. The US debt is $36 Trillion. One billion dollar is equivalent to million dollars multiplied by millions. The US population is 300 million. Has anyone done the math? Does anyone really think that this way the US national debt will be reduced? How many Americans will really donate money daily, weekly or monthly? I feel like 90% of people will ignore it and won't donate and the rest will donate a tiny amount of money. It's a huge disrespect that the government asks the society to pay for their mistakes and extravagant life. Perhaps the money printing were done to be used in support of their friends at war such as Israel and Ukraine which is really not a new burden the American government has been pushing onto her  citizens. In as much as the US continuos to interfere in and meddle in other countries conflicts the debt can never be covered because checking from the inception the debt amount has constantly increased over the years.
