Joseph Parker is the WBO mandatory challenger and they have ordered Usyk and Parker to agree terms within 30 days for a fight to take place before the end of the year. If they do not agree terms, the WBO will open purse bids.

The only heavyweight boxer that has earned the right to fight Usyk has to be Parker,. He has beaten Wilder, Zhang and Bakole in his last three fights and was supposed to fight Dubois before Dubois pulled out citing an illness that was when Martin Bakole stepped in at short notice but was beaten badly as Joseph knocked him out.

If Usyk refuses the fight he will have to surrender the WBO belt and will no longer be undisputed heavyweight champion. In that scenario, Parker will be awarded the belt and become WBO heavyweight champion.

I am not familiar with Joseph Parker, but it looks like he did great in his last three fights. But despite that, I don't think he'll be able to beat Usyk. In Usyk's rematch with Dubois this July 19, he showed how dominant he can be in his fight. I have no doubt Usyk will outbox Joseph if they fought.

Too bad Parker didn't get to fight Dubois, it would have been interesting to watch.

I started to respect USYK game more when he beat Tyson Fury. USYK has a rich history in boxing excellence as at amateur level he won the gold medal in the Olympics. But USYK is that class clown type of guy and not the usual mean looking, trash talking, show bolting boxing heavyweight. After his last fight USYK said that 38 is a young man so Parker being 33 won’t be a problem.
USYK boxing style is polished and usually perfectly executed than his opponents style. Parker is a strong guy with elite boxing talent but USYK is will knockout Parker .

I voted for Usyk to beat Parker. We've seen Usyk's speed against Dubois and so even if in paper it looks like Parker might have a good chance, it might be another easy fight for Usyk here. And if he beat's Parker, then he swept this division for good. Parker's previous opponent doesn't have the boxing IQ of Usyk. They all have the mentality to brawl and uses their power but Parker is too smart with that. However, with Usyk style of a southpaw and being slick, it's going to be very hard for Parker to just play defense early and then wait for his opponent to get's tired. And so if he goes early and fight toe to toe with Usyk, he might end up like Dubois and gets knockout by Usyk.

The best place to put you money between Usky and Parker is on Usky but if you are a risk taker you would go for Parker. I am feeling like going crazy and for some reason I am backing Parker to win Usky. Everything is saying Usky wins but I have seen even Anthony Joshua lose to people he was meant to beat easily.

Parker is the last man standing. They have never met before but I am sure the boxer that beat Wilder, Zhang and Bakole deserves his chance. Parker has been patient. He lost back to back fights against Joshua and Whyte in 2018, then suffered a loss to Joyce in 2022. Since then, Parker has re-grouped and had six consecutive wins.

It was nice to see Parker in the ring congratulating and hugging Usyk after his win over Dubois. There was mutual respect between them I hope Usyk does not vacate the WBO belt in arrange a bout with a different opponent.

Like I said before, am a big supporter of Usyk and I love everything he represents, his style of fighting and what he has accomplished so far in this industry. But what am just saying is that Parker shouldn't be written off until he gets the opportunity to show us what he got. I remember when Anthony Joshua was so hot and he was winning almost everything that came his way. Fair enough, although going into the Usyk fight, Joshua already lost his invincibility when Andy Ruiz beats him. Yeah, he successfully defeat Ruiz in the rematch and then Pulev, but it was the first time that we have seen Joshua being broken already. And going into the Usyk fight, he was the favorite, however, he hasn't face the likes of Usyk before, like very fast and slick as we can say. And again, Usyk is more of a thinking fighter, good IQ that Joshua didn't have and as we all know that style makes fight. So I guess Usyk should be intelligent enough not to fall for that kind of underestimating his emotions. But if there is a chance that Parker can beat him? Absolutely, in this sports just one punch will change the complexion of the fight.

Maybe you're right, as I said, I am not familiar with Parker, so I don't know the full scope of his boxing skills. He might give Usyk more of a challenge than Dubois did, but I still don't think he'll beat Usyk.

Anyway, we'll see what happens in their fight, they still have almost a month to get to an agreement.

I also voted for Usyk to win. Most likely though the heavyweight division is no longer that stack and at least Usyk has almost clean up the division except for Parker obviously. And you are right, he had regroup and have been winning, specially his impressive win against the Chinese as he was able to weathered that fight as we all know that Zhang has knockout power.

And if my memory serves me right, he should be the mandatory challenger for Usyk, but he gave way for Dubois. Now, it's his time but I don't see anyone in the heavyweight division to beat Usyk though. You really have to be very fast and has power to overcome Usyk specially his southpaw stance.

Zhang and Bakole are massive, they are stand much taller and wider than Parker an that was why most boxers were avoiding them but not Parker. He took them on and won. Wilder is past his best but Parker beat him too. He only ended up fighting Bakole because Dubois pulled out of the fight citing an illness but full credit to Bakole even though he was out of shape, he entered the ring at short notice and fought Parker.

Without a doubt Parker deserves his chance. He had to pick himself up after losing back to back fights with Joshua and then Whyte, followed by a loss four years later to Joyce. He had to fight dangerous opponents to get to this stage where he became the WBO mandatory contender.

On a humorous note, Parker has send out a parody video featuring a song trying to entice Usyk to agree to the fight.





Having said that, there is a worrying update regarding Usyk and Parker. According to Parker, they have not heard from Usyk and his team and have no idea whether Usyk will surrender the WBO belt in order to avoid fighting Parker or whether he will agree to the fight.

This is a fight most boxing fans would like to see. I hope Usyk agrees to fight Parker because it will be brilliant event watching two highly trained professional athletes trying their best to win what should be a very tough fight.

Usyk has asked the WBO to wait and to not force him in to a fight with Parker. He claims to have a shoulder injury therefore has asked for an extension on the negotiation deadline. The longer this uncertainty goes on for it seems as though the fight might not happen.

I just saw an article about this and was about to post what I read. Anyway, I also read that if Parker vs Usyk doesn't happen because of Usyk's shoulder injury, Parker might have to fight whoever wins between Moses Itauma vs Dillian Whyte on August 16(today).

  Well, if we’re talking about Parker vs Usyk for the WBO belt, I’d say the probability of Parker actually winning is pretty low at this stage. Usyk is a very complete fighter — great footwork, elite ring IQ, and he adapts quickly even against heavy hitters. Parker has power and experience, no doubt, and he’s been looking sharper recently, but stylistically Usyk is a nightmare for him. I’d personally rate Parker’s chances at maybe 25% maximum, unless Usyk makes a rare mistake or slows down more than expected.

If you look at Usyk’s top opponents in heavyweight, most of them either beat Parker already or looked much stronger when you compare common fights:
Anthony Joshua – beat Parker by decision back in 2018, while Usyk handled AJ twice.
Derek Chisora – gave Parker a really tough fight (some even argue Parker could’ve lost that one), but Usyk outboxed Chisora pretty clean.
Joe Joyce – straight up knocked Parker out, even though Joyce himself got beaten by Zhang. Usyk hasn’t fought Joyce yet, but stylistically a lot of people believe he’d deal with him.

It seems the WBO is stating they will not hand Parker the WBO belt if Usyk fails to agree terms with Parker. They seem to making a title fight between Parker and the winner of the Itauma vs Whyte fight with the winner becoming the WBO champion.

If Usyk does not go ahead to fight Parker, I think Parker should become the immediate WBO champion. I like Parker, when he is in the ring he does fear any opponent. He beat Zhang, Wilder and Bakole when other boxers were avoiding them and he has waited long enough for a chance to reclaim some/all of the belts he lost to Joshua all those years ago.

Joshua is not going to make a successful comeback against a worthy opponent though he might win a couple of handpicked fights in his attempt to get one last title fight. I am certain if Parker fought Joshua today, Parker would win and he would beat both Joyce and Chisora.

If Usyk vs Parker does go ahead, without a doubt Usyk would be favourite but Parker is a formidable opponent. He has been pushing for the fight with Usyk for a long time because he genuinely believes he will win. Hopefully Usyk will make an announcement soon about whether he wants to fight Parker or not.

Parker is the only boxer left standing in the current group of the best that has not faced Usyk yet I have a suspicion he will not fight Parker and for that reason will surrender the WBO belt.

Parker had a fight arranged with the then IBF champion Dubois but Dubois pulled out citing an illness. Parker was deprived of an IBF title fight against Dubois but he went on to beat Bakole. Dubois went on to have a unification fight with Usyk therefore Parker has a right to feel he deserves a title fight.

Maybe in the next few days, the WBO will make a statement on where they stand with Usyk and his non-negotiations with Parker.
