This actually shouldn't be happening because you shouldn't use your own comfort to discomfort others. I just saw the video on YouTube, and it is really sad to see how a company mining Bitcoin just built a giant mining facility in a small town in Texas, and the noise is really disturbing the elderly residents. Could you please drop a link to the video?

Anyway, some people can over exaggerate issues just to give the industry a bad name. The government just gave a license to a sand dredging company close to my location. The sound of trucks carrying sand is causing noise pollution. I have to adjust because I can't fight the government.

However, think big mining facilities should be located outside residential areas to avoid the inconveniences caused by sound.

The government has full control over controlling operating environment and calming pollution.

Link to the news

Everyone should be comfortable in their home, if the noise is unbearable they have the right to complain about the issue, as i know companies or mining structures shouldn't be located near residential areas because of noise and gaseous pollute in the environment.

I went through the comments and skim through the YouTube page and I can only see one thing. This is pure politics and this is why I don't like to see Bitcoin and politics.

The residents have every right to complain about noise pollution, it's toxic to the ear when you hear the sound of machines that runs 24/7 and never stop for a break for even one hour but let's look at the the topic and details of the contents; Come with me.

Let's start with the thumbnail of the video.

This is is misleading, the subject looks more of click baiting for views and targeted audience with 2 days and 2 million views. Bitcoin mining machines make noise but is this the best caption for the content? Obviously no.

I checked the YouTube handle, you can see what the page is about. https://youtube.com/@moreperfectunion?si=TPlJQFzqfdhM7SwI

They also have fund websites.

Let's get back to the content:

I was expecting to see the reporter go home to home. Get talk from people but that site doesn't look like something in a residential area, there are few people that lives in that surrounding. You don't expect mining farms should be in the woods.

The state definitely approved this place for mining activities, they can't do it without the approval of Texas government but you can see all the contents were channeled to the governor and the president who are Bitcoin supporters.

I don't see kids here, I didn't see middle age people. Just old people who live in the county. Though, they  have every right to complain about the noise but this is not what I was expecting. This is a targeted content.

The comments are all obvious.

That should not make you not to at least stand for your right, noise pollution over time can cause you health problems then you will be taking your own money to treat the problem. Don’t sit and say you can’t fight the government because they are meant to protect you. You can start a protest and reach out to them. If mining activities is affecting the peace of the elderly close to the bitcoin mining plant then the Texas government should look for solution.
Bitcoin mining plant should have a distance limit from where people reside. Or if the residents can be compensated to move away from location close to an already established bitcoin mining plant .

I’m all for innovation but not when it disturbs people’s lives like this. Noise pollution from mining facilities needs to be regulated better especially in residential areas. I'm not sure but I as a state in the United States of America, I believe that there are local authorities in Texas who are saddled with the responsibility of regulating operations in every environment. Reaching out to them I believe will bring a lasting solution to the issue raised instead of trying to make a content out of it. The US is a coordinated country where laws are strict and defaulters face the consequences of their actions so they should report to the right authority.

Unfortunately unless you live in an expensive place, a lot of businesses would not care and the government wouldn't either because business is business and money is money. They usually do not care about the people or the place or if it is being modernized. This is not only applicable to bitcoin mining sites but also with malls and condominiums and things like that.

Sounds like those bitchy climate activists who keep claiming and wailing about how Bitcoin mining is causing climate change. How many factories for example are very noisy in our communities day and night? But well when it comes to Bitcoin it has to be a special case!
What I know is that some of this activist are just hell-bent on getting funds from donors at the expense of tarnishing something else. In fact, it's no longer surprising to me whenever I keep hearing what they come up with.

The video oddly targeting bitcoin mining industry in my opinion.

Lets be real every factory tend to make these kind of noises, even producing wastes too, bitcoin mining is a lot better than those factories if being compared and I think this is just cherry picking.

On the other hand, I also curious whether there's solution to contain the noise. Is water cooling a solution at some point? because every problem relating to mining that I saw always talked about noises. Can it be handled like those data centers?

Mining Bitcoin is not supposed to be done in a living area, but in an isolated places where it will not affect the residents around the company because of the several health issues the mining will be possing on the citizens
When Bitcoin is been mined, it increases the  level of harm been done to human health during air pollution emissions, and so if the old man is 500 foot away from the mining company, then he would have being passing through a serious health challenge if he had non before.
The noise pollution noise exposure, cause by mining activities including hearing impairment, ear infections, headaches, stress, sleeplessness, disturbances, and hypertension can shorten ones life, therefore the government should find a lasting solution to this problem, because it will not be affecting only the old but everyone looks living around there.
