Nature has already given us different crops and plants for feeding so I wonder why some humans cause of so much knowledge they've acquired would create Genetically Modified Organisms as an alternative when we're still consuming what nature provides and living a health life, I'm not in support of these GMO's cause of the health issues it could generate on the long run.

 These GMOs shouldn't be tolerated at all as it not only cause harm to the body, the environment also suffers from it. GMOs introduce the risk of herbicide resistant weeds, can destroy beneficial insects because of the amount of toxicity.
Meanwhile for the humans, GMOs can cause a potential increase in allergies which if not properly checked or controlled, can be deadly. It also forms a resistance to antibiotics and as well be a driving force for unknown long term effects.
 The tolerance of GMOs is not a genius idea, rather a means to shorten the lifespan of people so it goes without saying that GMOs cause more harm than good.

I don't know why some countries Will allow this GMO that is a harm to the governments and citizens. Do you know that this GMO has eliminated many of our natural crops. Anywhere you planted this GMO close to other natural crops it will make them not to grow well to bring out good fruits for farmers. Well, it is okay to say no to GMOs but I think we should focus more on getting things right. It's not ethical to use humans as experimental hosts which is where the scientists are getting it all wrong. A proper analysis of these GMO based foods would give the world a good healthy food. But the problem is that the previous problems and allergies caused by unexamined GM foods has created that eternal phobia for such products. We have some experimental animals like the Mouse and others that have nearly the same body system with humans. If they can be proper regulations of the standards for these GM foods, I won't be totally against it.

Most science innovations have always been fought against at the initial stages until a proper research is carried out or until the world gets to accept such technology. The US understands that a complete ban of GM foods would be a perpetual blow on science and creativity. Being a science hub, they've been devising several laws to regulate the release of such foods and they also reveal it periodically. There are so many benefits that can come with GM foods even though they're still not achievable. A total ban of this research will be a hit on science and innovation.

Food allergies are not only related to GM foods, many people are allergic to natural foods and some of these foods are the target of GM technology. The problem of eyesight that comes from continuous intake of Cassava was targeted and a Yellow cassava with improved quantity of vitamin A was created even though it's not fully released. Other targets are low sugar foods for diabetic patients and so many others. I think the world can do better by giving the technology a chance to improve and tighten up the regulations guiding it in order to make the best out of it instead of abolishing a potential saviour of humanity.

I heard about this GMO food protest in the United States of America however my question is what is the duty of the government one primary duty of the government is to protect life and property GMO food are harmful to the human body and if the government is encouraging GMO food then they have failed on there primary assignment or duty which is to protect life, GMO food because cancer and other sickness to the body which can lead to death so why are the government still wasting time in banning it, if the United States government refuse to ban it then it is clear that they don't have the interest of the citizen at hand.

Are you sure you read my entire comment? Let me summarise what I said. In the first paragraph, I discussed briefly one of the reasons why GMOs have become popular. Let me ask, if someone offers you food that contains GMO crops while you are starving, will you reject it? My position is that these scientific crops could be beneficial in certain conditions. How are you sure the food you imported is naturally produced?

In the second paragraph,  I agreed with the OP that health supercedes every other benefit. My post even identified other negative effects of cultivating GMO seeds. And my recommendation was that the government should review agricultural policies to control the flow of these scientific crops into the market.  Could you please identify where I supported the use of GMOs without conditions?

Can anyone in here give any data that actually proves or even suggest that GMO is harmful to anyone. Preferably from legit groups of scientists that have made it their lives to study this field. Like any release from EFSA for example would be nice.

I've read so much about this GMOs and their harmful effect to the human body, and I had their seeds does not regenerate, so whenever you want to plant a particular crop, you need to make order for it, unlike our natural way of having seeds for plants for regeneration or replanting, and I also read from other source though I am not sure, they said that hence you use any GMO crop in a particular land, there is high likely that you cannot plant any other natural crop on that piece of land because it won't grow as the land has been effected. So with some of these harmful effects that people have perceived GMO to be, then it shouldn't be allowed, apparently there's nothing wrong with our natural way of planting crops, and is not as if you are into some sort of food crisis that we need food urgently for us to start going artificial in looking for food.

I main problem with GMOs is the fact the long term comsumption of them have not been studied to rule out they are harmful and a threat against the health of whole populations in developed countries.
I remember some news I saw about the United States allowing some supermarkets to seel Genetically modified salmon to people and allowing companies which produce that fish to sell it without any identification, so people would not know what they are eating.

You are correct OgNasty, and that is why I find it difficult to eat out however one can't even totally stop eating out because a situation may occur that we cost you to eat out however one should not make it a regular habit to be eating out, a lot of restaurants nowadays don't really care about the health of their customers all they really care about is to make money and so they cook any kind of food even though is not healthy for human consumption, a lot of health challenges you see people facing these days are caused by some food they have eaten.
There's a story I saw one day online where someone was in a hospital battling for his life and what brought him to that situation was the food he ate at a restaurant.
I don't even drink again these days because a lot of drinks that are made especially in clubs are fake and this things can cause cancer or damage a major part of our body let all just be careful as not to fall victim of all this and also pray that one won't fall victim.

A short time ago, the average life expectancy was much lower than it is now, and back then, there was no such thing as GMO. I don’t want to be misunderstood as supporting GMO products, but I don’t think it’s such a big deal either.
