To be honest, I thought the US Bitcoin or crypto users would be at least above 30%, but surprisingly, just 14% of the adult total population own Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Recently Gallup’s new survey publisheddata on what percentage of US citizens own Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

Do you think this is massive adaptation or just the beginning? I think after Trump won, US citizens started thinking about Bitcoin and crypto. Slowly they are entering into crypto; I believe next year the crypto owner will be double. Because the survey says it's a slight increase from previous years. However, I am just wondering ifUS adult citizens are still afraid to buy Bitcoin. Even the government of the US is adaptive regarding Bitcoin reserves.

Do you think this is still an early stage?

Do you think this is still an early stage?
If we have early, middle and late sage, I think we are in the middle stage. The amount of money need for bitcoin to increase this time is much higher.

I just use that as example but there is no late stage.

We are in the middle stage that bitcoin price will still increase 10 times high and get to $1 million but the time needed is higher. It would not be more than 15 years from now.

Then the late stage would begin. Like I said, no late stage because the price of bitcoin will continue to increase but to get to 5x after $1 million might take decades.

This data is still not that important because it does not tell us how much they own and how they own it. There's a big difference between 5% portfolio allocation and a $50 try it investment.

Do you think this is massive adaptation or just the beginning? I think after Trump won, US citizens started thinking about Bitcoin and crypto. Slowly they are entering into crypto; I believe next year the crypto owner will be double. Because the survey says it's a slight increase from previous years. Most people have no idea just how early we still are. They look at the high price of Bitcoin and think that the game is mature, but we are in the early days of starting maturity.

My question actually is how was this stats gotten and how accurate is this stats? My questions pours out because bitcoin which is the main coin I think most of them will buy is pseudonymous which means that a US citizen can anonymously own bitcoin without actually having it attached to his identity, and if it is so then the we can say that the stats isn’t accurate as it doesn’t captures everyone. The only way I see this stats are gotten is from centralized exchanges under government regulations and not everyone has there bitcoins or crypto bought or stored there.

But overall I wouldn’t be surprised seeing this numbers because for me bitcoin is still early in most countries most especially in those strict countries which are just relaxing their laws currently to it. I think we will be seeing more investors going forward most especially since the government laws are relaxed now, this will make others who were restricted to pick more interest globally into bitcoin

This is not a good indicator. I mean only 10.8% of US adults own gold while 11.6 percent owns silver, so does it means it's early days for gold and silver as well?

Is the main goal to force everyone owning it? Because 14% is freaking huge number. If anything, this is indicator that people trust less in a dollar and US government.

as when 2025 powerty data (SPM) comes out, i am guessing that rate has exceeded that 14% of current hodlers. And just holding bitcoin isn't any kind of guarantee to escape that poverty, if that hodling is even going to be legal in US at that point.

Sincerely speaking am surprised seeing that only 14% of US adult in total population owns bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Normally after trump won the US election I was expecting massive adoption of bitcoin in the US, but with the result am seeing here am not impress. But all the same it's not too late for those US citizen's who have not yet get started with bitcoin to get started, because bitcoin is still on rise, so as time goes on we expect more new ATH's so less keep buying bitcoin and hold for long term.

Interesting statistics.

Conservatives own more cryptocurrency than liberals, even though conservatives are suspicious with new thing, many people who hate Bitcoin are old people and most of them conservatives.

The higher the income, the higher they own cryptocurrency which is make sense. Higher earnings have more money to risk.

I think it's just the beginning of Bitcoin adoption. The last time i saw a data said around 22% of Americans owned Bitcoin. However, it feels weird to see this says only 14%. So, which is true then?

Talking about the adoption, we're still at the early age. We have only 106m that adopted Bitcoin, and probably already increased a bit as this data published last year. However, it only around 1.3% from the total population, which is so small.

I also wondering do ETF also being counted when calculated this?  We know it's related to the indirect ownership, but still represent tens or hundreds thousand of people.

I actually made something similar to this one on my local board
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5551626.msg65621724#msg65621724
We are not late but we may just be forgetting how lucky we are. So many speculation i have seen today and one outrageous prediction was bitcoin will reach over $20 million

What I do is see myself as lucky and get bitcoin every week saved, I have to amount but as far as I can save more than $5-$10 minimum worth of bitcoin I am making my future better.

Do you think this is massive adaptation or just the beginning? I think after Trump won, US citizens started thinking about Bitcoin and crypto. Slowly they are entering into crypto;

These numbers don't surprise me. Not like I knew these exact figures, but they are expected. Only about 8% of the world population holds bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. That is about 600 million people in general, so the number of people who hold crypto in the US shouldn't be a surprise.
14% of the adult population is about 36 million because the adult population of the US is about 261 million. That is not a bad figure. 36 million people from one country is a lot.

I believe next year the crypto owner will be double. Because the survey says it's a slight increase from previous years. However, I am just wondering ifUS adult citizens are still afraid to buy Bitcoin. Even the government of the US is adaptive regarding Bitcoin reserves.

Bitcoin adoption will grow in the US, but I don't believe it will be because of Trump. Trump is more unpopular now compared to when he was running for office, so I don't see how his influence is going to bring a significant number of people to crypto by next year. Bitcoin and Crypto adoption are increasing in most crypto friendly countries in the world so with Trump or not, it would have still increased from what it was in previous years.

Do you think this is still an early stage?

For bitcoin, yes.
For altcoins, I don't know.
If bitcoin is going over 120k with less than 8% of the world, imagine what would happen when 10-15% of the world holds bitcoin.

Recently, there has been a lot of information about bitcoin in the media related to Trump and the news background about government bills related to bitcoin. Together with the current high rate of bitcoin, this creates a positive news background, which undoubtedly works as an advertisement for bitcoin and increases trust, which leads to an increase in BTC-users.

I have doubts about the doubling of BTC-users next year, because sooner or later the current bitcoin cycle must end, which means the cryptomarket will begin to fall. And as you know, people will not want to buy bitcoin, seeing that this asset is getting cheaper. New users will neglect the best time to invest due to fear of ending up in a loss.

Of course, this is only the beginning and we are at the beginning of a path of great changes (both good and not so good) in this industry.

If I am a bitcoin user I would not be participating in such surveys, to keep my data less exposed. I am sure some of the American people have also been secretive about their use of bitcoin.

Again a figure more than 10% is a good number. You can expect more than 50% right now, its just been a few years that crypto has boomed across the globe, hence dont count from 2009 rather count from 2018-2019.

Either way we long timers should focus on accumulating on our stash of bitcoin, forget what others are saying, one day we will have the biggest bags. Cheesy

To be honest, I thought the US Bitcoin or crypto users would be at least above 30%, but surprisingly, just 14% of the adult total population own Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
Hah, its completely opposite for me, I thought that percentage is much lower than 14%. And tbh, I still do.

I don't trust any of these surveys as they can be easily manipulated and I think bitcoin would be much higher if indeed 14% of US adults owned crypto.

If I am a bitcoin user I would not be participating in such surveys, to keep my data less exposed. I am sure some of the American people have also been secretive about their use of bitcoin.
I think that an average crypto owner has no idea about importance of privacy.

The value of Bitcoin may just be too high for a regular person so most probably if there is something to be used by the older people, it will just be the stablecoin as they see Bitcoin's value is too volatile to be trusted. They want stability.

If there will be an adoption of crypto that will happen, it will probably not Bitcoin but stablecoin. Bitcoin will probably just for the risk takers who are trading constantly thats why the most Bitcoin will be owned by the financial institutions.

Do you think this is still an early stage?
This is not a good indicator. I mean only 10.8% of US adults own gold while 11.6 percent owns silver, so does it means it's early days for gold and silver as well?

Is the main goal to force everyone owning it? Because 14% is freaking huge number. If anything, this is indicator that people trust less in a dollar and US government.

as when 2025 powerty data (SPM) comes out, i am guessing that rate has exceeded that 14% of current hodlers. And just holding bitcoin isn't any kind of guarantee to escape that poverty, if that hodling is even going to be legal in US at that point.
That's not a good comparison. I don't know anyone who owns gold or silver, and I know many people who are decently rich. Those things are old and outdated instruments that are not interesting and the returns on them are terrible. You can use gold as part of a diversification strategy but other than that it sucks too. Because of this I disagree that 14% is huge. We are talking about groundbreaking technology. Does internet have a 14% penetration rate?  Wink

Complete stupidity. Stablecoins are very risky with no gains to normal people, Bitcoin is safe heaven.

CDBCs would be the answer, but it would be far from what Bitcoin envisions, better stick to it if you don't want to be left out of the self-custody train.

I kind of get it if only 14% of US citizens have Bitcoin or other cryptocurrency. This may be as a result of the past administration's criticism towards cryptocurrency. However, right now the ties have changed, and the current president wants to make the US the crypto capital of the world. He has backed his words with action by passing 3 crucial bills into law recently. I know the percentage of citizens that are still skeptical and those not interested in crypto are still very high, but with a pro-crypto president at the helm of affairs and more favourable legislation in place, I believe the numbers will progressively increase.

I dont think the status of a early adopter exists today no longer, that was the status more than 5 years ago. Currently i would say that bitcoin has reached the highest levels of the world, or it is becoming a topic of conversation. No matter if they accepted BTC or not, bitcoin will go on in the future. The reason that there are only 14% is probably because the price of bitcoin is very high in there view and many are afraid to buy something. Money is seen differently all over the world and in some countries the bitcoin prie is extremely high. I think they dont really understand it right now.

This 14% also include Bitcoiners that have their Bitcoins residing in non custodial wallets? There is no way to track a Bitcoiner that is not present on exchange like Binance. I am sure the exact number of people having Bitcoin or any-other crypto is now much higher then 14%. Moreover Bitcoin is a global currency not limited to one to two countries. In the end it matters how many people in the world are well aware and possessing Bitcoin or other crypto and this figure is now quite satisfactory.
