Weird Adress - need help

back in March 2017 I sent 4,45 BTC to an address and its still sitting there, I think the addy was mine but I can't remember.
If anyone can find whose address it is ( DEX e.g. ) an I can get control over it, im willing to pay a reward for helping!

How can we actually be certain that you didn't just pick a random address online with bitcoins in it? Actually more than an address would be needed to get those coins if they are yours and if you have any further information you can share here but take note not to share any sensitive information like passwords to wallet dat files, private keys or seed phrase. And if this is really yours be careful as you may receive PMs from people intending to scam you.

I dont think you can find out who "owns" that address since there are no other clues on the blockchain. But even if you could, how would that help you gain control over it?  Its obviously not a centralized service or anything like that because the funds are still sitting there. So your only path is to exhaust every possibility on your end: try to find old wallet files, seed phrases, private keys you might have saved. If you cant find those, consider those 4.45 BTC permanently lost.

You have to have its private key (or seed), else nobody can help.
Do you remember by chance if you've been using Bitcoin Core or Electrum back in 2017?
Maybe you've been extending your seed with passphrase? (I think it was also a bug in the past and even empty passphrase may create different addresses?)

PS. As said, avoid helpers in private, some may be scammers.

You're trying to gain access to that address just because you think you sent funds there, but you're not even sure? That's really hard to believe. No one would seriously attempt to retrieve the private key of a specific address based on such uncertainty, especially considering how incredibly difficult and unrealistic that is to achieve.

I have sometimes experienced the same thing as you, but maybe a little differently, the wallet isn't usually my primary wallet and is usually used for testnets or airdrops, so I save the seedphrase haphazardly or carelessly. Luckily, I can always retrieve it when I check my phone or computer records (whether in notepad, my personal WhatsApp chat history, saved messages on Telegram, etc.), and the transaction date is also usually be my reference, so I will use it to check my activity around that date and time. Maybe you can try my method, so I hope it will help you find it.

Like you don't even remember ever creating any Bitcoin wallet? May writing down the seed phrase or backing up the private keys?

I know it wasn't a big amount as it is right now, but at the time of transfer, that was BTC worth 5,484 USD in there. I don't think you could just transfer that to any random address without carrying out any extra measures of recovering the funds, especially knowing that Bitcoin grows in value so fast. In fact, a few months later that year, BTC went all the way to 20,000 USD. Are you trying to tell us that you did even care about the 80K+ USD you had in the address at that time?

OP, you will have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that this address belongs to you; otherwise, nobody would listen to you, and if you receive a PM from any random account with respect to this matter, then you should know they are scammers. You just have to be careful out there because you have unveiled something as sensitive as this wallet balance, and also not to get tricked into giving out any pin, key phrases, or anything whatsoever being demanded by anybody who claims to help you get back your assets.

If if you use a DEX, you own the private key of that Bitcoin address and only you can recover that wallet through private key. You are here to ask, this means you have no private key for recovery.

Judging from the kind of transactions you conduct in the address linked to your profile, it shows you are not new in the industry. That wallet holds a large amount, and if you can somehow check through the transaction history, go back to where you sent out all the bitcoin from the wallet. If you can remember when you created the sending wallet, maybe it can give you a hint as to when you created that receiving address.

That address doesn’t belong to any CEX exchange; if it did, the money could have been moved long before now to a different address, if its DEX its same thing like owning a private wallet which means you should have access to the key.

It's a standard legacy address.

And it doesn't matter whose address it is, only with the private key or the seed you can gain access to the funds and you said it's yours then you should have the keys and if not then you can consider the funds is lost forever because there is no way you can find the privatekeys when you have no idea of characters in particular order.

Remember this: "not your key, not your coin."
If someone sends you a PM asking for a private key, it’s likely a scam.  So be cautious.

No one will help you here except yourself.
If you think that’s your Bitcoin address, consider which device you used to create that wallet, there should be a wallet.file on that computer that contains your private key.

If it were possible to just gain control of a BTC wallet through its public address, don't you think the BTC network would have collapsed by now. Even if the threat of quantum computers were real today, it still wouldn't be able to help 'steal' the coins in this address, because this address has never spent any coins, so its public key is unknown.

In the BTC network, ownership is proven through private keys or seed phrase, without that there is no way to 'own' those coins.

How could it be yours if you remember sending the Bitcoin from another wallet? Unless you had multiple wallets back then, it's a bit unlikely. As others have already mentioned, you cannot do anything with an address, you need the seed phrase or private key. Anyone who says the opposite is out there to scam you, don't believe anyone through PMs. Look through old files and text documents to see if you have saved anything relevant from back then, otherwise there's no way to recover a wallet that might not even be yours.

It is impossible to crack a Bitcoin public address for having its public key, then private key.

The procedure from Bitcoin private key > Bitcoin public key > Bitcoin public address is one-way, and irreversible.

If it is a two-way procedure and can be irreversible or cracked, Bitcoin would have no value as your bitcoins are not yours even you created it with your Bitcoin non custodial wallet because later everyone can get your private key by knowing your Bitcoin public address.

It could be in your transaction history because you sent the funds to someone, either as a payment for something or some other kind of stuff, it doesn't have to be that the wallet is controlled by you. However, if you feel you sent funds to yourself, can you remember what happened to the seed phrase of that wallet?

Since you have access to the sending wallet can remember why you made the transaction? Did you mine bitcoin at some point in your life and if you do, can you remember the device you used and anything related to your early involvement in bitcoin? If you can answer some of these questions, you can get a clue of what to do if the wallet is actually yours.

It has already been verified that the bitcoin is not in any CEX, as for DEX, can you remember if you have used any in the past? If yes, which of them and how were you able to access it then?
