Different people have different opinions and information about a particular topic. Especially online platforms so it is advisable to not just believe everything you are being told or read online.
    This is where DYOR(Do your own research) comes in..  you need to personally explore and  understand what bitcoin and other cryptocurrency stands for. 
The importance of this is numerous

• This will help you protect yourself from any scam activities. There are alot of Scams in the crypto world so doing your own study will help you spot th at first glance . These scams offers reward that is too good to be true

• It helps you reduce FOMO. The hype behind a certain currency can make you act based on emotions and thus can be very disastrous as you could lose your funds.. when you research properly, you will be able to know when to invest in a project

• You will be able to accurately make your own decisions instead of blindly following an influencer or a celebrity. These people have commissions for endorsing projects and will make money irrespective but it's different for you when you are not properly informed.

• There is risk in bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general but when you accurately do your own research, you will be able to make calculated risks and this will prevent you from losing funds more than you can handle.

• It will help you understand the purpose of bitcoin and it's long term potential instead of only focusing of its short term price movement..

Ensure you confirm any information that comes from these platforms because false news could emanate from them. Yeah, both Bitcoin and cryptocurrency are involved in the risks; it's just that they has a limit on like, the trading. But the best way to avoid the risks in both of them is what you’ve mentioned earlier, which is to do our own deep research on how they operate. Because even though people say that there are a lot of risks in the Bitcoins, and you know how you can handle it by calculating the risks that are involved, you will never have a problem with the Bitcoins and cryptocurrency.

It’s wise but not really necessary to do research on every information you come across..if it could impact your decision making , knowledge and reasoning, then why not? But sometimes you just have to ignore some infos because they might not be of help & even misleading somehow for you.. so it’s better to ignore such , channel your energy into something more beneficial to you but yeah no knowledge is a waste! You can do it your way I.e you can choose to reaserch everything though it might not be realistic or healthy btw..just don’t let it affect/cloud your decisions (yeah you could get trapped while trying to to know everything as well)

Bitcointalk is no doubt the best source of information because everyone here is involved on spreading the factual info that everyone needs to have. You aren't being a smart investor when you can't detect if the crypto you want to buy is a scam or not. The only time you have to give excuse is when the project you're investing into wasn't a scam when it started but later changed and started scamming because of some reasons.
