I have been trying to fix this issue for almost 11 months now. It started when I was installing the Bybit app on my phone and mistakenly filled in my surname as SINDAY instead of SUNDAY during the biodata setup.

As a result, my Bybit account name doesn’t match my bank account name, and this causes problems whenever I try to use P2P trading.

When I made enquiries, I was advised to log a complaint through the app’s help centre, but the issue has still not been resolved. Friends also suggested I update the app, which I did.

Even though the Bybit app has improved, especially with the addition of an AI-powered help centre. My case seems to be an exception. From what I have seen, it can only be resolved by speaking directly with a live agent.

However, every time I try to contact them, I am told they have many complaints and I should check back later or wait. It feels like my issue is being overlooked, and I honestly don’t know what else to do.

The last time I tried to sell Bitcoin, I had to use my brother’s Bybit account instead.

Can someone please advise me on what steps I can take to fix this issue?

Have you tried contacting them through their e-mail maybe?

Even though the Bybit app has improved, especially with the addition of an AI-powered help centre. My case seems to be an exception. From what I have seen, it can only be resolved by speaking directly with a live agent.
AI powered help centre is waste of time most of the time, just a chatbot programmed to filter people out without providing meaningful help, the right thing to do is always to find a way to contact them directly. It could be that your inquiry probably already in their system but still hasn't processed. If i were you i'd ask every week.

Submit a support ticket via the Bybit app with a clear subject like “Name Correction Request  and input SINDAY to SUNDAY” and attach your valid ID, bank document, and a screenshot of your profile. If no response from it then try to email support@bybit.com with the same details. For faster action, how about try escalate on X and tagging @Bybit_Official with your ticket ID. If still unresolved and no response on both suggestion then consider withdrawing funds and opening a new account with correct details. Might work that way.

Only their recovery team can resolve this issue. If they're not available right now, the only option is to wait your turn, as support said. If privacy isn't important to you, look for alternative global P2P exchanges that operate legally in your country.

For more specific cases, such as mistaken identity, they sometimes require a video call to resolve the issue. This is based on the experience of a friend of mine at another exchange. Sending unsolicited documents first didn't help at all, and they ended up resubmitting.

Exposing ticket ID also puts OP at risk of being contacted by scammers.

I am not using Bybit, but I have an account there, and it is fully verified. If you are going to use their support AI, it will only bring you a guide that exists on their system.
I think you better contacting them through their social media accounts; they are responding fast on their X account here's their official twitter https://x.com/Bybit_Official

Or also try other social media accounts like Discord, Facebook, and Reddit; it seems they are responding faster than contacting them via email. Just avoid random strangers who PM you

I just wanna know why bybit and why are you still using it if they aren't solving your case. Eleven months is a lot of time mate! Do you have any significant amount of assets in your bybit account? To be honest if I were you I would have moved to another exchange with good customer support. I don't know where you are from, but I guess you have some other popular alternatives! So my advice would be change to other exchange. And regarding p2p, I found almost all of them had similar exchange rates, as well as security measures.

I don't know why OP is taking minor things as a big deal. He can create an account with a new exchange with his name spelt correctly. If he has a good amount of funds in Bybit, he can move his coins to a self-custody wallet without any problem. He is only complaining about p2p trade via to receive payment. Only if OP, doesn't want his data to be with more than one exchange. I use three exchanges for flexibility.

Even if you update the app several times it will not give the opportunity to reset your bio data, if there is any means this could be changed it can only be done by the bybit technical team, however what I still don't understand is how they were able to verify your account when there was a misspelling on the name because usually when the name doesn't match with the one on the identity is mostly not going to be successful. Well is difficult to use P2P with an incorrect name because they would definitely make sure that they restrict you, however the only way to it is when you have a vendor you could be selling to through transfer but I wouldn't still advise it if you don't no the person because with that the exchange cannot guarantee your safety so actually try and keep contacting the support and luckily your name could be corrected.

KYC data might be one of the reasons why OP is still trying to fix the name spelling though. Tbh, a lot of us aren't comfortable handing over our personal bioinfo to these exchanges, especially with all the hacks and data leaks happening everyday. Still this whole thing feels like way too much hassle for what it's worth.

New users might hesitate to try more platforms especially when there is money involved so if they did a successful one then they will try to stick with it.

I don't use bybit but usually exchanges matches the bank name with the KYC documents we submit not with the name we enter while setting up the app that is bit weird and definitely not worth 11 months to change it.

If he has a good amount of funds in Bybit, he can move his coins to a self-custody wallet without any problem. He is only complaining about p2p trade via to receive payment. Only if OP, doesn't want his data to be with more than one exchange. I use three exchanges for flexibility.

11 months is actually a long time to have ditched an exchange that doesn’t reply to your complaint. Since there are other good exchanges that can offer such services, I wonder why he hasn’t moved there with his funds to enjoy the services he’s been denied here, their loss if he did earlier. The only option is to always use another person’s Bybit account for P2P services which he claim to have been using his brother’s own. It seems he’s so obsessed with this exchange and he’s the type that don’t like exploring other options if they offer same thing and he can access the whole services on one of the exchanges he already registered on.

May I ask if you must use Bybit? What about other tier-1 exchanges? not available to you? any particular use cases? Honestly, I would consider just switching to another platform, and leave this stressful situation behind. No one likes to talk to a wall...

Back in the day, they used to have very quick customer support. I guess not any more. I guess the only solution is to persistently keep sending them messages until you get noticed. 11 months is a damn long time to keep waiting! Even what's funny is not certain exchanges allow you to edit any changes with KYC especially the names, location etc, bybit is just being too rigid.

Also, If I were you, I would have already looked for alternatives. Bybit is not the only platform where you can sell and buy your coins while connected with your bank account.

I have been trying to fix this issue for almost 11 months now. It started when I was installing the Bybit app on my phone and mistakenly filled in my surname as SINDAY instead of SUNDAY during the biodata setup.

As a result, my Bybit account name doesn’t match my bank account name, and this causes problems whenever I try to use P2P trading.
If the spelling is wrong on your account and different from your identity card, then how have you verified your account? During the registration and verification, it's mandatory to submit your personal information along with the documents. So how did you successfully verify it? You have to talk with the support and connect with a human representative; they could help you to solve the issues. If they aren't supportive enough to solve your issues, then try to write on their social media pages along with support ticket numbers. So they would be fixed quickly.

If finally you are unable to solve the issues somehow and you are forced to use only Bybit, then you can delete your account permanently and create a new account. Go to security options and account settings. You will find delete options there. Before deleting your account, remember to withdraw all of your funds from Bybit. Otherwise you may lose funds and be unable to delete. If your account hasn't been flagged for some reason, then you could delete it.

This is a simple issue that is not supposed to take 11 months to resolve. Even though I'm wondering how you passed their KYC with such discrepancy in your name, you can simply reach out to the support who will help you resolve this ASAP. Although there have been report of recent that Bybit support have become so terrible, maybe that is the reason you are not able to resolve this simple issue simple issue for this long. As I understand it, you verified your account on the Bybit exchange, but I don't understand how you managed to pass verification on the exchange if you entered your last name incorrectly. The only solution to your problem is to open a ticket via E-mail.

This sounds like that one problem where it's supposed to be simple but cex just kinda ignores it.
If I were you I would abandon the exchange and just switch to another, their fee is really high anyway compared to its competitors.
