Ethereum is officially 10 years old. Honestly, I thought we’d have smashed $10K by now, but the reverse seems to be the case. Given its potential, I personally feel like it has underperformed.

That said, could this finally be the year we see ETH hit $5K?

The recent dip, coupled with platforms celebrating ETH’s 10-year anniversary, came at just the right time for anyone looking to accumulate. I’ve personally been holding ETH for about two years now, and honestly, I could use a little upgrade in my portfolio.

I guess the real reason for this thread is to hear from you:
How do you feel about ETH’s 10th anniversary?
Do you think it has underperformed, or is it doing okay?

Mostly underperformed up to borderline okay performance. A lot of people who have little knowledge watch only the USD chart, which is wrong. Many people who got some ETH would have bought BTC instead if they didn't. If you look at the ETH/BTC chart it looks bad. It has bad performance even with all the lobbying and bribing that can come from a centralized project like ETH.

ETH prices are rising, but gas fees are also rising, right? So as long as gas fees remain unresolved, it will always be a concern, even with Layer 2. This does not allow ETH to solve the trilemma that Vitalik has been targeting. When talking about ETH, there are many things to consider, not just the price but more about how efficient the network is.

No one knows but let's hope for the best.

How do you feel about ETH’s 10th anniversary?
Not that much to think of, just another day but for the early holders of Ethereum. This is a milestone, just like long time holders of bitcoin who's bought a lot during the early days, they're now in great profit.

Do you think it has underperformed, or is it doing okay?
It is doing okay IMHO. It may seem look underperformed but it's because of our expectations that it didn't met.

ETH underperformed a lot but that's because it has done incredibly well for those that got on board the bandwagon pretty early. I didn't meet it but I believe there was a time when 1 ETH cost $10 or less and the fact that it left that price range and never went back there is a sign that it's one of the structurally solid token especially for an altcoin.

But I am confident that with staking ETF for ETH and US government putting some of their services onchain would mean exponentially growth for ETH. That, coupled with treasury companies like Bitmine accumulating tons of ETH tokens
it would likely happen as low as shit doesn't hit the fan anytime soon (TCOs doesn't collapse).

No one can say it correctly. Ethereum prices have not increased as expected this year, the previous ATH has not been broken so far, Ethereum has underperformed this year. Now if Ethereum's price is $5k it will be the new ATH. Many expect more from Ethereum this year. Now I don't expect much from Ethereum, but expect to see maybe $5k by the end of the year. Let's see what happens later this year.

I was here when it first came out, even before the fork that happened which show ETH and ETC diverge their path. I can tell you that nobody thought it would be as big as it is today.

All these "why isn't it 10k+" questions came in much later, when people saw the bull run it had in 2021.

There were even talks of flipping bitcoin at some point, when you get that much confident with your investment, what seems like an unrealistic expectation, becomes an expectation.

It's underperforming if I'm being honest. It should've hit an ATH by now much like bitcoin but right now just recovered from the dump and coming back to 3.5k. Doesn't mean it will not perform great in the future though. I personally think ETH will go to $5k by the end of the year but of course I can be wrong.
However you can easily see BTC/ETH pair in trading view and find out why it's massively underperforming in this market. Even against something like sui or solana it's hugely underperforming.

The good news is, there are increased inflow of ETH lately, I think smart money are accumulating ETH. I can sense something good is about to come up.

I saw BNB at $2 and $ETH sub 1k but I didn't get in..so I'll say I've got regrets but I'm trying to remedy the situation over the years by accumulating VIA DCA steadily or trying to explore events like candybomb to earn more.. I think due to the potential of ETH, exceptions were unrealistic but I'll say it's done fairly well. If you're looking for opportunities to expand your portfolio, you can checkout candybomb for ETH..spot trading gets up up to 1 ETH if you meet the requirements.

On what basis are you measuring the performance of ETH? Are you saying that an a coin that moved from a starting price of $0.311 to currently $3,562.72 within a decade underperformed because it did not meet the $10,000 target you set by yourself? Ethereum have overperformed in all ramifications and it is only those who do not set realistic objectives that will dispute that fact.

Regrets would be always that in the end and its always been like this and tons of people had missed out those opportunities because what most hinder us is that we've been that hesitant on taking up the risks because you cant be so sure whether the market would be pushing through forward or would be having that very deep correction. If you've been here into this market and been able to experience out those corrections then you would be having that kind of hindrance because you dont like to see your portfolio to be negative and thats why you would be having that kind of hesitation on making up a move and instead on making up some buybacks, you would rather be that stagnant and waiting up for some dump. On the time that you do get left behind then you would be easily get FOMO at the time that the market would be shooting up. Actually it would be that normal that we will be having those emotions at the time that we've been that deciding to make out some investment. Actually it would be just that depending into your own risks management since not all would be that having that confidence on doing so and thats why they would be that hesitant on doing so and there are those who are that wanting to make investment despite of those risks.

1. I feel nothing from ETH's 10th anniversary. There's nothing change happened from the blockchain for even more than 1 decade since it's launched.
2. No, I dont. I'd rate Ethereum is overrated with all of problems that never getting solved. Limited TPS, non sense fees, unlimited supply. I feel its current marketcap is overperformed compared to the its blockchain specification.

I disagree.
I was here when it first came out, even before the fork that happened which show ETH and ETC diverge their path. I can tell you that nobody thought it would be as big as it is today.

It was about 9 dollars when I first saw it, and I do regret not getting some, I wish I bought with all my money, but that is the old days and no need to keep regretting. So nobody assumed a 4k+ barrier would be broken when we were back at 9 dollar price.

All these "why isn't it 10k+" questions came in much later, when people saw the bull run it had in 2021.
What is there to disagree, just look at the chart against Bitcoin. For most of the time it has under-performed and it would be better had you bought Bitcoin instead. Meanwhile you support premining and centralization when you buy projects like ETH.

There were even talks of flipping bitcoin at some point, when you get that much confident with your investment, what seems like an unrealistic expectation, becomes an expectation.
Only idiots were fooled by this talk.  Smiley

How do you feel about ETH’s 10th anniversary?
Do you think it has underperformed, or is it doing okay?

Agree, the new generation coins do everything that ETH does but so much better.

Ethereum is officially 10 years old. Honestly, I thought we’d have smashed $10K by now, but the reverse seems to be the case. Given its potential, I personally feel like it has underperformed.
Actually Ethereum never had any true potential for a long term price rise because of a simple fact: it has unlimited supply. It is like saying fiat will appreciate in value over time!

But apart from that because of all the protocol flaws, the mutable blockchain, its centralization and of course its lack of utility (in real world) makes it without-potential. So in a way the current price ETH has is an overperformance.

That said, could this finally be the year we see ETH hit $5K?
There is always a chance. It depends on two things:
1. Bitcoin price, considering shitcoins that dump against bitcoin don't usually dump as fast as bitcoin price goes up against dollar. Which means ETH dollar price can go up if bitcoin starts rallying hard.
2. The pumpers who are the only reason shitcoins like ETH go up in price. Although it gets increasingly harder to perform big pumps in old shitcoins that had gotten their major pumps, but the pumping team behind it can still pump it to some extent.

I’ve personally been holding ETH for about two years now,
2 years ago around August 2023 ETH price was roughly 0.06BTC and today it is roughly 0.03BTC ...
