That's quite accurate in our day and age. The past few years, especially after COVID-19, there are more than a handful of vacancies, at least where I live, but the shortage in jobs os mostly a worldwide phenomenon. You shouldn't stay in a job you don't wantz you'll find another one, don't listen to employer propaganda that you won't find something better, there's always something better, don't waste your time and life somewhere you don't belong.

We should be grateful, but this doesn't mean we should be stuck somewhere we don't like spending our time in.

I'm going through a similar dilemma regarding my job. It's an easy job in the sense that I don't have to use my mind much and don't have to decide on risky situations while it's tiring doing repetitive tasks. It pays ok, above average salary in my country but I'm not satisfied with it. I have greater ideas and plans in my mind and has the confidence that I would be able to earn more than what I'm earning now whichever path I take. Yet, I'm not confident enough to leave the job to venture into my business ideas.
The good thing about my job is it has a permanent pension plan. I just need to work 9 years and if I resign, I'll be paid a pension till I live. It would be smaller compared to my salary about 30% of current one but it would be enough for me to just eat and live. When I have such support, I could venture anywhere and take many failures without failing to ground.

While it's good to be content with what you have, It is also dangerous to be too comfortable. Yeah you should be grateful for the job and do it well but that does not mean you should not strive for something better ...
People tend to get comfortable too quickly when they start earning a certain amount from a job... It is bad to be greedy and committing fraud just to earn more... It is more beneficial to grow in your career by improving your skill... When you become more skillful you automatically attract better opportunities not opened to you before..

As long as the work they're doing is consistently earning them, there's no need to look for other jobs with incomes that might not be as good as their current one. There is no problem in job hopping. They have a plan on why they do that and that increases their value and salary depending on the tenure of their stay for each job and company that they've worked on.
