It is about marketing, and marketing is pretty much a science on how to influence the general public and their feelings through the use of images, photographs, sounds and videos; so people will acquire products and services which they would have not otherwise. Yes and that’s what everyone needs to understand. Betting sites won’t want to lose big money to gamers but they know there are fair chances that they will, they use the winners to boost their marketing. A gambling site with large payout can help high staking gamblers to trust them.

Casinos will always showcase gamblers that won big or talk about them because it's a means of them telling you that you can also win big in gambling if you try. However, the casinos didn't say that you should become an irresponsible gambler to the point that you will become addicted to gambling. It's just like on cigarettes ads, they tell you that tabacco smoking kills but still people rush into smoking cigarettes.

Casinos wouldn't tell you the opposite side of gambling, because it will scare a lot of people from gambling, you should be the one to have self control over whatever activity that you engage yourself in to avoid the consequences.

I agree with you... stories like case FedEx are inspiring and almost always the risks involved or even the context, are ignored when used as an argument to justify a bet. Was this a desperate decision? Yes! But it also came from someone who knew lot about the business... meaning it wasn't just luck.

And I'm sure that for every winner in a story, there are hundreds of others that never worked out, that failed before even making the news... so theres no point in just believing and going with the flow without having an good strategy and backup plans for when something goes wrong... emotional and financial toll is enormous.

Anyway, I also believe that seeking motivation is definitely valid! But you also cant pin all your expectations on exceptions and follow a dangerous path... I think that sustainable long term success comes much more from discipline, study and conscious actions than from luck.

I never believed these stories before but after hitting 10,000X multiplier in one of the slot games by Hacksaw, I understood that some of those winnings are genuine and not just ads to lure people. What else you want a casino company to do other than showing huge winnings to the public for more visibility, after all, nobody wants to hear a sad news of failed bets, that shit is negative and never bring new players into the platform. I am very aware of this. I am not making this post like this is a new thing but I am letting people know that success stories are good for business. It’s every where down to even religions, religious leaders show their testimonies on mass media and this can convert members to their spiritual homes, but they have members who have been with them for years but no testimony. Essentially, all advertisements strive to attract customers or users. They employ various marketing techniques, including controlling the viewer's emotions, as you mentioned. However, I prefer to describe it as touching the viewer's emotions (rather than controlling them).

Therefore, I don't think there's anything wrong with that. If we look at advertisements other than gambling, they also attempt to appeal to the viewer's emotions. For example, food and beverage advertisements use compelling stories and visuals to achieve this. So, there's nothing inherently wrong with that, because advertisements can't force us. We have the freedom to follow them or not, and our minds also act as a barrier. Therefore, we must realize that we must think before taking any action, including gambling or purchasing food or beverages, as I mentioned. If we don't think, we could suffer losses, whether material or non-material. In essence, too much of anything is not good.

There are two sides to a coin.

And just as on one side, we have a successful Smith's story who used the remaining money the company had to playback in Las Vagas and won, there is the other side of the where many other "Smiths" have use their remaining money too for the same purpose but lost and it never recovered. Smith is just an outlier and outliers don't happen often.

Emotional learning is an important tool for any activity, not just gambling, and I think it's the initial shortcoming, as many people sometimes lack life experience, which would be empirical and in a way gives you a head start. However, professional research works and helps.

Eh, I think a lot of people know that. Even if they don't, there are a lot of disclaimers about gambling activity in general. People just can't control their emotions, as mentioned above. It's really hard to be disciplined if you never actively tried to learn it, or your life never requires you to control your desires strictly. If fomo/greed is that easy to control I think most business will go bankrupt or have a pretty low profit.
