I remember a post here before saying that it was better to just not aim for experiencing luxurious things because you will get used to it and it will be difficult when you go back to not being able to afford them. It made me think of whether there is a difference between people who grew up poor and people who grew up rich when it comes to their dreams and aspirations and goals.

Are poor people more prone to staying poor because they have become complacent? Or maybe because they are just not aware of the greater things in life since they have never experienced it ever? As opposed to someone who grew up rich but later on in life became poor, since he has experienced what it is to have a better life maybe he will be more motivated to get there.

Everyone has dreams, both the rich and the poor, but the dreams of the people who have a good startup background are easily achieved based on the opportunities that they have, more than someone who is just starting up from scratch. Even some people who grew up in wealthy backgrounds are also those among them who are very reluctant and don’t just care about anything aside from remaining at the same level that they are; nothing concerns them, and they don’t strive for a much better life.

The poor, as you classify them, also have very big dreams, even above those who are already higher than them, not because they have been there before but because that’s what they desire, and they work very hard in achieving that. Some inspiration comes from their life experiences, which they will not want their next generation to pass through, whatever they themselves went through, and as such, will want to also make a soft landing for their future generation.

Poor people who don't have any motivation to get out of their situation will just remain there for as long as they can. But those who aspire to get out of it and live a better life, they're for sure going to have a better life through their hard work and determination. While those people that have been in that situation and don't desire to have a better living because the condition that they are in now are convenient for them already. So they stay there for as long as they can and there is no more reason for them to thrive and work harder because that's how simple their kind of living is. While the others will just reason out that there's a different meaning of being rich and poor in heart.

Both are true.

Like this thread Be grateful for what you have now, if the poor people grow up in a "kind" environment e.g. the parent raise them well, the teacher and their friends accept them, and not getting bullied or harassment, it's high likely they will stay poor because they no longer have motivation and always "be grateful" over their poverty.

That's why sometime I don't really hate bullying, harassment, brought down etc because it could make people motivated to prove them wrong.

Making generalized statements about rich people being this and poor people being that simply doesn't work for me.
I know that most poor people are simply not educated enough to get rid of their poverty. Many poor people are hard working, but they are also not very ambitious and got used to the "get a job, live paycheck to paycheck" lifestyle. Many poor people are just lazy.
Some rich people are entitled to a luxurious lifestyle, others aren't. What matters the most about being rich is achieving financial freedom and not having a boss. Using your wealth to get a hot girlfriend is also pretty important. Having a luxurious lifestyle is a by-product of being rich, but it's not the most important thing in life.

it is easier for a rich guy to become poor than it is for him to go back to becoming rich again. the ladder that connects riches to poverty is just like that which is used to climb the top of the building. coming down is always quite easy but it always take so much to pull yourself up the ladder. it is better to work really hard to pull yourself up and at the same time set modalities in place that will keep you standing up and never come down again. riches to rag is almost like a curse that everyone should never allow happen to them.

I believe that there is no fixed behavioral pattern for that; a poor person may take the experience of the poor background that they've had and turn it into motivation to never want to remain at that level, making them fight for more in life, while someone who was born into a rich background but is now poor may also not feel the motivation because depression has taken over that state of mind coming from them never having experienced that sort of level in life.

It gets down to the individual level and how they have been affected and are reacting to the experience.

It is better for you not to have tested luxury than for you to be a wealthy person before and finally became poor. That could become one of the worst things that can ever happen to anyone. Wealthy is fun, enjoyable and comfortable especially when you are such a person that like taking control of everything around you.

It would be an unforgettable scenario for a rich man to later become a poor man. It is better for you not to have seen the light than for you to see the light and later end up in the darkness. This has been one of the reason why so many wealthy people are very curious working hard to make sure that they don't end up becoming poor.

They would do anything possible to keep the income coming than make decision that will take them back to penury especially if it's someone that has tasted penury before.

There are so many factors to all of this, most people born rich already have that advantage to keeping them steps ahead because there's a good availability of resources to fund the dreams whatsoever it is. The most challenges they will face will be with management of which if they are able to conquer, they will mostly get a smooth ride to the achievement of that which they have made a goal so for them the resources isn't something they will have to go in search of first before they come back to their goals but this isn't an express assurance of success, they can fail too.

For the ones born poor it's actually a whole lot for them because the scribble for limited resources alone is enough them to at some point loose fate in their dreams because in most cases they have to first go gather resources and then come back to chasing their dreams of which in some cases they may have spent too long a time to gather and you see that some of them start late when there rich peers are already advancing and achieving more, all of this put together makes some of those poor give up on the dream and settle for that which they can find around thereby making them look like they remaind poor there after.

Let's say you already have a job, but your expenses are usually greater than your income, you don't have the means to save money, or your income is insufficient to meet basic needs. It's difficult to climb the financial ladder, so you remain in the same financial zone, or you might make some changes but they're not significant. The category of poverty itself varies from country to country, but at its core, it refers to those who cannot meet their basic needs.

They have hopes and dreams, but often face numerous obstacles that are extremely challenging. We know that achieving the best possible position in life requires effort and strong determination. Some find it difficult to do so and give up, while others end up living a modest life but still find happiness, even if they don’t become wealthy.

I agree with you, it takes a lot of forces to pull an object up, and if that object is falling, the law of gravity takes its full cause
and it falls down with so much force and energy. This is almost the same thing in terms of climbing the ladder of success, and that is why it is always encouraged that people that have succeeded should always spread their tentacles in a bit to maintain their success. Most times I found out that, it is the children of successful people that makes the story of riches to rags come true, because they did not build this success on their own, so it is hard for them to see it that it was somebody's sweat that made them to be up there, so some of them just wake up one morning and squander what they've left for them.

I've got a lot of poor friends but they're not poor in attitude, they're full of hope and one day that they'll get out of the bad situation that they are in. But the sad truth of many of them is they're living in survival, they have no hopes for better life in the future for as long as they have something to eat. They need a helping hand and some of them are grateful if they will be helped. While the others, they've got attitude issues and not grateful when people help them because what they have in their minds is they're already poor and yet these people trying to help them think that they're not helping willingly.

Getting rich by luck usually don't end well for many people. I've seen people getting rich from lottery, living rich for a few years and they went back to where they were before and sometimes even worse because some of them loaded up on debt which is worse than losing what you already have as now they lost what they don't even have. People who get rich slow on the other hand they usually learn how to stay rich while getting rich so they know how to secure their position. I know not every lottery winner end up being a loser but you can't deny that what I am telling is a common occurrence. If a person somehow end up being rich because of his luck, he should immediately spend some time on educating himself.

Let me clarify one thing, no one wants to stay poor. Rich wants to become richer and poor wants to become rich.

Then why poor can't able to achieve even if they work more and be passionate about things that they do is because they are focusing and working on something that is not going to benefit them in any way, I am talking about employee and employer here. All our works and it's benefits goes to the employer and we just take and agreed to take a fixed cut from them. So it requires smart and where to focus our hard work to become richer but poor can't afford to think such when their survival itself becoming harder with inflation rising up.

Exactly, there are different type of people in our society some of them try to change their life and som of them like to live where they were. Life is full of hardships and challenges which everyone has to face. Uts true some people are born in poverty its not their fault to be born in poor family. But if they die poor its all their fault because they haven't struggle in life to change it and live a better life. There are some people who struggle and push themeselves against their comfort zone and work tirelessly they change their life to stay happy. They don't have resources but they do all that by themselves and their struggle become their fuel. There are some people who don't care to chnage their life because they lack potential. They have worst mindset just to work like animals and go home to sleep without thinking any idea to chnage their families lifestyle for which they always remain in poverty and die. These kind of peope should think about their children's future and struggle to make it better.

Yes the wrong set of priorities, or not being able to set priorities. Most likely the later.

When it comes to dreams, everyone feels this way, it's just a matter of how serious they are about achieving it. And most of those who strive are at the level of people
who come from really poor backgrounds.

And the ones who go through more hardship are of course those who come from really poor backgrounds, because others who are rich are already rich so the hardship is not as difficult

It is much dangerous to go from rich to poor as it is to go from poor to rich. The motivation would be easier psychologically for the the poor guys who's working on going up the ladder. I think he would be less distracted by former glories and pomp that could serve as a distraction for the formerly rich to stay patient to work up back to the ladder.

Except in cases where someone who was rich before had to build many lives into privilege positions before accidentally fall down to poverty. There's a high tendency that those lives he had built would give him the wings to quickly fly high back up there.

Yes, i think this thought exists in which people compromised with their circumstances. They don't even try to resolve the problems or enhance their resources. the main reason is only that they are never embarrassed by the facilities and luxuries a person has at the same time. This case is not adjusted in every circle because there are people who try to sort out their problems and want to become rich by seeing rich people but the way adopted in this regard are wrong and negative so they get in more trouble. there are examples where the people from poor families make their lives more comfortable and more facilitated by education. i think the matter is all about the thoughts the time is for those people who think big but in the other case the problem is even more serious because it is very difficult in fact impossible for the persons who cherished all the luxuries in life but while being poor compromised with the circumstances is a great problem because he knows the difference between each and every thing. Riches persists to be tough to control and has rendered too many one time rich men hopeless at a point of crash in the market. In 2008 during the great recession most people whose house lost value and sold less than what they borrowed to build it, had the lenders foreclose the home, and some of the families who fell victim hardly made it up the ladder again.
