I think those who are born poor and are growing up poor have relatively small ambitions. It's probably because they're aware of their place under the sun, and aiming for the stars is probably perceived as too much or unreasonable and, therefore, pointless.

Those who have been there but have fallen for one reason or another have higher goals because they've been there and, therefore, they're aware and confident that such goals are within reach.

However, in the end, it's still about individual character. It's mainly the reason why a poor boy becomes a rich, powerful, and respected man despite the odds. In the same manner that it's also mainly the reason why a rich, powerful, and respected man falls down.

I believe that there is no fixed behavioral pattern for that; a poor person may take the experience of the poor background that they've had and turn it into motivation to never want to remain at that level, making them fight for more in life, while someone who was born into a rich background but is now poor may also not feel the motivation because depression has taken over that state of mind coming from them never having experienced that sort of level in life.

It gets down to the individual level and how they have been affected and are reacting to the experience.

The second thing that you said there can also be applied on the first one. I know this is crazy but there are also rich people that wants to experience a simpler life.

@OP, I think more people are more prone to staying poor because they lack on resources which also cause them to be less motivated but they are surely aware of the greater things in life. They know that the rich people exist and mostly has those greater things. The most easy thing that they can do is to get jealous of it, get annoyed, and say that life was so unfair. Rich are also aware of the worst things in life. They are aware that being poor is a thing, so this also makes them to try hard to not fall on that category.

This is true you can't possibly think about moving out of poverty when you're not making any effort no, it never works like that. alot of people dream dreams but couldn't make effort not to think of chasing their dreams, majority of the wealthy people we see today was once poor but thier determination/effort towards chasing their dreams made them to be where they are today that is to show that life isn't all about dreaming dreams, after dreaming we should be attempting to chase our dreams not just after dreaming and you just fold your hands and be expecting the dream to come to fulfillment when you don't even make any effort.

It made me think of whether there is a difference between people who grew up poor and people who grew up rich when it comes to their dreams and aspirations and goals.

Sounds like something Salvador Dali said. He said to his student who said that he is prepared to eat less to focus in his art. Dali said that he should prepare by eating caviar. But Dali was a surrealist, and this sounds more like manifestation to me, which is basically bs.

In reality, if you don't have rich friend circle or rich family, you need to make a budget and sometimes tighten your belt (which can mean different things to different people). But i assure you that if you get used to large budget, that doesn't mean you should live like that when you don't have enough money to sustain it. I know that several people even sell their stocks / cryptos when they are down, because they are used to expensive lifestyle. Even though that means they can't sustain it very long.

Dreams can be seen in two ways, one is active, and the other is inactive. Everyone in the world dreams of becoming rich, but accordingly they cannot focus on their dreams. If you only dream while sleeping, that dream will never be able to bring anything good. If you make every effort to realize it along with dreaming, then only good things can be achieved. Many people today have come from the root level and have become rich. They have dreamed and accordingly worked hard to realize their dreams.

Lack of opportunities. That's one reason why the poor remains poor, but nowadays, there are many ways for these poor people to grab those opportunities. I don't think that they're just complacent because there's nothing to be complacent for at first place.

Also, poor people remain poor because of lack of knowledge on how to have a better life, and this is the reason why I always wanted our government to have at least a course or at least subject with regards to financial literacy in school so that students whether they're poor or rich will know how to handle their finances because let's face it. Poor money handling is also one reason why they remain poor.

There might be poor people who're just working just to survive, but there are some poor people who still have a dream of having a better life that's why they're doing everything that they can just to achieve those dreams.

This might not be everyone's ideology but it's better not to be rich at all than to be once rich and fall back to being poor, there's nothing more devastating in life as this.. riches to rags is not a good condition to find yourself in because It comes with a lot of depression, people in such situations might end up doing something that's illegal to make money because they will be desperate to get to where they were once in life..This is mostly caused by mismanagement of money and careless decisions

Only a few people can survive for long in a state of total poverty who were previously rich, this also depends on their own mindset. Usually those who are rich have high standards of style, and when they fall into poverty they are not used to this situation so there are negative cases due to depression, but with those who are poor certainly have the desire to be rich, it's just that not everyone does it with action sometimes they only dream briefly and have resigned themselves to their situation so they just live their daily lives with what is available. But certainly no one wants to survive in poverty because this is not the purpose of life.

I think that’s the most difficult place in life one might find themselves, come from a place of wealth and luxury to a place of nothing, not having what to offer others and worst still, yourself. It’s always a difficult adjustment to make but once you’re there, it’s never up to you no more.

It made me think of whether there is a difference between people who grew up poor and people who grew up rich when it comes to their dreams and aspirations and goals.

I think there is a huge difference between these category of persons. It tells on how they invest and live their lives. While the poor might find it too risky to invest what they’ve got because they are scared of losses, the rich don’t because, there is always more where that came from and they understand that, only through risk taking in certain types of investment can they build wealth.

The reason why rich stay rich and poor remain poor is that it takes literally 0 effort and knowledge to make money from money.

I'll give you a nice example. Imagine a guy who inherits wealth at young age, for instance gets a large residential building from his grandparents. He already has tenants who used to pay his grandparents and now they're going to pay him. Since he's getting free money every month, he can simply tell a bank manager to do something with it, like invest it into ETFs for him, or just choose a good savings account.

Let's say he's getting $10k a month from the tenants, in a year he's going to have 120k saved up. His wealth manager is going to easily get him a safe 10% a year, so he's going to get another $12k interest.
He doesn't have to do anything, just have fun, travel the world...

On the other hand a poor person will always struggle. You get a parking ticket but have no money to pay it? You have to take a loan. Your kid gets sick? Take a loan! Eventually you end up in a debt spiral you can't get out of.

my granddad used to say "to make it with money is easy, I want to see you making it without money"

I agree with most of what you posted so this is the reason one should always study and invest, my granddad started by working for someone until he could build his own business, it took years and he donated all his life only to work, I don't know if he was happy tbh, but he definitely changed the future of his family.

Riches to rags has to be the worst experience that anyone can ever go through in life. It's better to start poor and end up rich than to be rich and later become poor. This has a way of breaking down your self esteem and your mental state. People who fall from riches to having nothing are those type of people that have no discipline and keep spending without thinking of saving or making an investment

Poor people simply don't have too big dream for the most part because they know those are out of reach but once they know how to be successful they'd aim for greater thing much like rich people.
It's just difference in the upbringing, once yo learned there are greater things out there you will yearn for it. Although unfortunately most of poor people just never get better financially because many things, some of the poor people that can leave their poverty sometime become even richer than the middle class or higher middle class.

Rich people always try to be rich and they are doing different businesses to become more richer in the future. People are doing effort in making rich but that is not an easy for everybody because people who are poor will be poor if they have not best strategy to become rich. People are doing excellent effort to become a wealthy person and for that reason they are doing wrong thing which are against the rules and regulations but they are doing that to earn money. I mean, it's easier to get athletic and more healthy than fat and less healthy

But how about poor people in the street? how can they turn their live around? Even in the digital age, it's going to be very hard for them to fight a job unless someone reach out and help them out like what we have been seeing in tiktok (although it's obvious for click and clout), but still they made a follow up and make sure that the people they help will have a job and they will survived.

So very difficult for those poor people, they really need the help of someone or the government itself to get out of their predicament and be self-sufficient at least. And to the poor, I can't imagine their situation, they might have given up already in their lives that they will remain poor.

Don't mismanagement, misplacing and mispriority might lead to the rich becoming poor again, money is planned, money has to be Chanelled, as a rich person, you must work out ways on how to upgrade and multiply your money so that you won't get stucked, I understand why you said what you said because becoming rich today and getting poor tomorrow or will I say ik the future can send one to early grave, yea there are decisions that can lead individuals to bankruptcy that's why it very much adviseable for people not only rich people to make informed and calculated decisions to avoid ruining what they have built overtime for themselves.
