Congratulations to Hakimi. Last season was the best of his career by far. I watched him play against my team (Liverpool) and against Arsenal. His contributions was pivotal to PSG winning the UCL last season. Truly deserved.

The league Oshimen is in right now kinda shadows spotlight on him. If galatasaray gets eliminated soon, no Europe coverage for him. Lookman and Salah haven't been at their best in recent times. Especially Salah

I don’t know how Ademola Lookman made it into the discussion but yes Lookman has been a shadow of himself recently. Victor Osimhen will have to move to the La Liga or Premier League clubs if he wants the football career he deserves. It’s a pity that his talent is limited because the Turkish league isn’t exactly considered top tier. Osimhen has been linked to some big clubs recently, I hope he signs a deal soon.

It's true that victor osimhen career will take a leap if he can make the move to the Epl or the Spanish laliga, but i don't look at Galatasaray in a way most of us are looking at them because they are a team that can compete against the bigger boys if they can be consistent, we say how they defeated Liverpool in the champions league this season, and I believe that more promising performance is coming from them this season in the uefa champions league, so victor osimhen made the best choice for himself and his happiness to remain at Galatasaray because happiness comes first over everything.

I don't really understand what some Nigerians and the super Eagles coach is saying about DR Congo using voodoo in that match, which made them to qualify for the FIFA world cup competition for next year.

I don’t even know what to call the super eagles coach, I feel he is just looking for excuse for his loss. DR Congo didn’t use anything in the match, if they had used Vodoo, then why did they get to the stage of playing a penalty shootout? They should have just won the match easily. Also why did the DR Congo lose some penalties also, they should have scored all their penalties. It’s annoying to see our coach say things like this, since DR Congo made use of Vodoo, then he should have used it also, all we wanted from him was to make super eagles qualify for the World Cup, but he couldn’t achieve that for us.

The super eagles coach just allowed his emotions to control him, and i think that is what made him accuse a D.R. Congo player forcefully of using VOODOO during the penalty shootout in the play off finals. I am very sure D.R. Congo did not use VOODOO against the super eagles because VOODOO doesn't work in football, and if it were true that a D.R. Congo player used VOODOO against the super eagles, a lot of people could have seen the D.R. Congo player when he was performing ritual so that the VOODOO would make the super eagles players miss their penalties or when the D.R. Congo player was keeping the VOODOO on the pitch.

Achraf Hakimi deserves the award ahead of others, so far this year's award has been a consensus from everybody, this is to show how outstanding the winner was in the year in preview. Hakimi was a key member of the PSG champions League winning squad which dominated the French league and the champions League last season and even played in the club world cup finals. Hakimi has shown consistency even this season before his injury and we can see that in way Morocco qualified for the world cup.

If not, the Super Eagles messed up this World Cup qualifiers, Victor Osimhen would have pipped them all to clinching the award,  but reality dawned on him that he lost it to Hakimi as a result of the Eagles' poor performance. At clubside, Osimhen is performing per excellence and there is no doubt about it.

However, our female goalie won the female best keeper, and our female team won the best team of the year. In general, I just feel the performance of the Super Eagles had a downturn in the awards, making our players who were nominated lose to their counterparts, as we got numerous nominations in various categories.

It's a well deserved win for the Moroccan, there isn't any sentiment attached to this due to the player's wonderful campaign he had with his team last season winning a three out of the three competitions they participated last season, I believe it was those feats that made Hakimi outstanding last season and also made him the favourite to win the award for best footballer in Africa for the first time in his career and perhaps the first time a defender is going home with this award.

The world cup would have helped to add to his personal stat, nevertheless if Nigeria can win the AFCON and Osimhen finishes as the best player of the tournament, wins the league for Galatasaray and several other competitions, Galatasaray also doing well in the Champions League with key moment from Osimhen, he can be able to beat the other African best contender for the award.

Osimhen really needs a good club that will compete in big stages like Champions League and with high chances of winning it, Galatasaray doing well in the Champions League is under probability, obviously they can't aim directly on the title because they are not included among teams that have the capacity despite having one of the best striker in the world.

Lol, can we just move on from our failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup and stop blaming everything on it. Achraf Hakimi is the best player in Africa, it does not matter if Nigeria qualified for the World Cup or not. Hakimi was excellent last season and his contributions to PSG's success cannot be overemphasized, as they won everything.

That said, we can hope one of our own wins it next time. But as far as this one is concerned, there was no one more deserving of the award than the Moroccan, Hakimi. Congratulations to him, the first defender to win the award in 52 years.

But what if they use the world Cup to no the players they can award it?, the international football has use champions League to give the most competing award so since this was the period of world cup they might see it important to do so, so if they use it then Victor Osimhen will not be awarded because they will give the award to a close equivalent to him who are already in the world cup. Eric Chelle isn't insane to just come out and make such spurious allegations, because he knows the consequences, what I believe FIFA should do is to lunch an investigation, if what the Coach is saying is not true, then a proper sanctions should be made to coach else if there is proof in what he said, then DRC should face the music, instead saying he is being too emotional.

See I noticed that this salah and osimhen had a wonderful brilliant seasons together and this really feels good I most say, about on the other side I think Hakimis blends of attacking is kind of not fair and he try his possible best to play defensively, my fear is the challenges that Morocco might face at the AFCON. But still I think Hamkimi really made an out boost the year 2024/25 in which the campaign was a massive masterclass and I guess the CAF all voted  was agreed, that was how he walked always with the 2025 CAF players of the year which till date is still unbelievable to me because I has put all my hopes on Mohamed salah to be the winner.

Seriously I nevermind expected the award to be given to anyone else than Hakimi he hard pain the price for that award and we should acknowledge his potential and performance to take home the award, so let sentiments aside and we should congratulate the Moroccan player for his well deserved award regardless if we lost out of the world cup qualifiers or not, he deserves that award, let look forward to next time not this one.

This is a good decision by CAF because Hakimi did so well and was instrumental to PSG winning the UEFA champions league. Those saying that Salah would have won it are not being sincere to themselves because Hakimi was key to the success of PSG even though Salah also did very well for Liverpool. I understand that the effort of defenders are hardly seen since it is the goal scorers that shines, but those who understand football will known that defending is as important as scoring. Once again, congratulations to Hakimi, now he can aim for world record since age is still on his side.

I want to personal say I my self was a bit anger to see was Nigeria lost that game to DR Congo I would say it honestly sucks seeing a whole well trained professional player give up easily to such country like that, and the funny part of this is that Nigeria people unrated them thinking they could take a better chance at winning the game, funny enough mother luck didn’t shine on the Nigeria super team, now it feels like we have missed a great chance, how funny football can be sometimes it makes you slimes and sometimes it make you lost hope.

Congratulations to Achraf Hakimi, his exploits for both club and country has been rewarded. Honestly Mohammed Salah had the best individual performance followed by Osimhen but the Champions League Hakimi won with Paris St German gave him the edge to win.
 
Congratulations to Morroco too, first time a female player from Morocco is winning the best African female player and they did a double first time. King and Queen of African Football for the year came from Morocco.

Next season I’m sure Victor Osimhen will still be in the conversation and might most likely win it again.
