I think that this is not the best way to pay rent yet, at least there are people who want to hide that they are dealing with crypto, and paying with bitcoin means showing that you have bitcoin. Maybe I am too careful, but I would prefer that the person from whom I will rent housing does not know that I have bitcoins. Perhaps a little later, when this type of payment becomes the norm for almost everyone, then I will change my mind.

Paying in bitcoin seems like an exaggeration to me, because if we look at the content of the article, we see that the payment is made to centralized platforms that exchange bitcoin for fiat and pay the landlord in fiat.

I could have titled the article: “You can exchange your bitcoin for fiat currency more easily to pay your landlord.”

Of the four cities mentioned, there is only one where you can pay the landlord directly in bitcoin, but this is mainly for luxury rentals, and I would guess that these account for less than 10% of the total.

I think it's dangerous to pay rent using Bitcoin, I mean, we're tourists or immigrants where we have to be careful since we have no family or close people who can help us. Whenever I want to rent a flat, I act like a poor person in order to not make other occupants being curious and broke my door at midnight. Not to mention if the owner have extra key which can open my door. Hence, I bought a second lock door to make it more secure.

Before this time, it was a thing of pride to use Bitcoin. But the current security concerns caused by the constant attacks by criminals on Bitcoin users have made people want to live privately. I will also not inform any landlord that I own any cryptocurrency because they will assume that I am a millionaire. However, I am blaming the government for these attacks. They have the responsibility of protecting lives and property, but because they have failed, people are now living in fear.     

But paying with Bitcoin might be the best option for some immigrants like digital nomads who might not have access to bank accounts and other financial privileges.

The keyword for me is "conveniently," which is exaggerated, considering that even in these top countries that have been mentioned, you will still find homeowners who will outright refuse accepting payment in anything other than the traditional fiat.

If you're looking to visit a country where you find vendors who would accept payments in Bitcoin, you should probably consider countries that have a high number of adopters or people who are currently investing in Bitcoin because in such countries you will be better able to find individuals who would likely be more willing to accept payments in Bitcoin even though they do not put up an official announcement about it.

Apologies! But I honestly think that paying rent in Bitcoin is a stupid proposition. Rent in many cities is a sizable amount. Do not spend your Bitcoin for anything right now. If you can, invest back into Bitcoin.

The world is moving to another global conflict. The Fiat money is not going to cover your expenses for the future. To save your Bitcoins in a way which can cover your future expenses.

Do not disappoint when Bitcoin price goes down by 10%. Rather make it a point to buy at that price point.

It is still better than having nothing imo. And if we follow your logic, then almost no online business that accept crypto is really accepting crypto for real as almost (probably all) of them use a payment gateway like bitpay.

What do we say about them? For example does namecheap accept crypto or not? As far as I remember this domain/hosting company accepts crypto via bitpay. How would you describe it?

I think as long as you can give your crypto and get something in return, it means you are buying it with crypto. Who gives a damn what the merchant gets? I don’t.

I was thinking that El Salvador will top the list, being a country where Bitcoin is a legal tender, it's surprising to see that even countries like Berlin is among the cities and even ahead of El Zonte. I was not expecting to see any Argentine city on the list because I have not heard much about Argentina and Bitcoin except that they elected a pro Bitcoin president. Maybe this is what is helping the acceptance of Bitcoin in the country and I hope they go further even to the point of making it a legal tender.

I was looking to see if OP would mention the UAE, as the last time I checked, the UAE, most especially Dubai, is a crypto-free state.  The adoption rate there is drastically on the increase as bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are accepted for services rendered. And from the findings, one can pay for their hotel accommodation, flight tickets, and even the government accepts it for some services as well.

El Salvador has a total population of 6M plus people, that's just a small country and Bitcoin a legal tender doesn't mean people are really using Bitcoin to buy and sell things over there. Their could be immigrants there that maybe using Bitcoin but I'm not really sure if the citizens are making purchases. I could remember the government airdrop $30 to around 4m people in the country but guess what? They all sold it and refused to use the app that was design for them to use.

So far so so good, only the government has been buying Bitcoin on a steady from their income generation but their growth hasn't been great on the economy, but Bitcoin is better. There has been news that they are trying to raise money from IMF and the condition of the loan terms are not favorable to them, they want their Bitcoin exposure to be less, they want them to reduce the rate at which they are buying Bitcoin which is something I don't expect them to yield, but the unanswered question is who is going to loan them billions.

You are right too, but would there be an option for BTC? I don't think so..

In an ideal world, it should be possible. On the other hand, I don't think it's impossible for a merchant in a 3rd world country to accept crypto (especially in a tourism spot) unless the government explicitly jails them if they do that. Then again, whether you can pay your rent with Bitcoin or not isn't a deal breaker for me because it doesn't represent other things I can do with it (like buying digital stuff).

I definitely give up and doesn't need even to mention anymore. unless you're buying something really expensive (like a yacht...) you can easily change a some satoshi and get cash. I would never pay a rent in btc (and personally I dislike questions about " how did you know btc"? )
Nowadays it's full of services that allow this kind of payment... If a seller doesn't accept at a fair value btc this is not my issue...

Exactly even though Bitcoin is legal currency there but most people do not use it for everyday shopping. Government under President Bukele has been regularly buying Bitcoin which they see as national asset. And yes big challenge for El Salvador has been its relationship with IMF which has been worried about risks of Bitcoin. To get major loan El Salvador recently agreed to change its Bitcoin policy making it so businesses do not have to accept Bitcoin anymore and limiting government involvement. This shows country is trying to balance its pioneering Bitcoin plans with need for traditional financial stability.

I personally never encountered such crazy mark up, But I guess it does happen sometime knowing that some payment gateway charge too much fee for processing and that includes conversion fee, payment gateway fee, etc.

But if it's just sending bitcoin directly to the merchant like peer to peer. I don't think such mark up will happen otherwise the merchant is just being greedy.
