Does it make sense for Amazon to develop its own Stablecoin?

Would like to learn your thoughts on whether Amazon should develop its own Stablecoin or leverage an existing Stablecoin, like USDC and USDT? Understand that Libra from Meta failed, but Amazon should have a larger volume regarding cross-border transactions and payments. Welcome any thoughts on the topic and any referrals to existing cost-benefit studies on this (not sure if the big consulting firms have researched the subject). Thanks!

Same question could be ask to Trump if it makesense for him to launch USD1.But then seem the Genius Act is already a law, sooner every bank and every large companies are able to laucnh its stablecoin.

If Amazaon expands to all countries around the world, USD will still dominate and that dedollarization will fail. This must be strategic for US.

Bitcoin is not only the existing coin, although almost other unstable coins are shit coins. If bitcoin is not the only coins that is existing, know that there will be more people or companies that will create their own stable coins.

They will turn it business and profit making just like Trump family did with USD1.

Having their own stablecoin will greatly help in cross border transactions. With their own stablecoin, they will be effectively saving a huge amount of money from bank fees and what not! But Amazon should not launch a public stablecoin like USDT or USDC. Large organisations which are focused in certain type of businesses, should remain their focus intact.

However, if they want to reduce the fees paid to the banks for cross border or even inter-department payment, stablecoin is a great alternative. That reduces a lot of dependencies.

Well I o think it will be good for Amazon to have a own stablecoin. It will save them Billions in only from credit card fees and from bank transactions. But there will be alot of government regulatory if they do it. 

I do like to use Amazon prime but I do not know if I will use the Amazon stablecoin. They will have to make a special price or something like this for me to buy another stablecoin. I do think Amazon does have alot of risk if they do it.

Honestly sounds good.

If they can make stablecoin, integrate it with their product and also directly integrating it with crypto. I'd see it as massive benefit for me since I used amazon a lot.
No need to have huge market cap, just enough market cap to use their e-commerce, aws, and so on and I'd instantly ditch something else.

But i honestly don't think they'll be doing it.

Very happy to learn your thoughts! Do you have an estimation on what percentage Amazon could save by shifting to Stablecoin? To be more specific, any ideas on the compliance cost of Stablecoin, given that it is currently not 100% under regulation, like Tether? Thanks.BTC

Yeah it kinda makes sense for Amazon to create their own stablecoin. They’re huge & a coin could make payments faster & cheaper especially for global stuff. It could also help with things like rewards or subscriptions. But they’d have to deal with a lot of regulations which might be a headache. Still if any company could pull it off it’s probably Amazon. It’d be interesting to see if they ever go for it.

Well if they can able to do it and make the stable coin they made so useful especially if they accept it on their own platform then why not?

This provably would give their platform user a good option to use their stable coin to pay for their bought goods. Also they would have an option to use it for other things in cryptocurrency market especially if they allowed to trade it there.

Curious if they really do it since as of now they are exploring many things and provably they do lots of studies since they don't want to create a mistake for launching their own stable coin in future.

I don't see any point in them creating their own stablecoin, as they don't really need one. If they want to implement payments using stablecoins, we already have the two largest ones ($USDT & $USDC), both of which are also somewhat centralized, in line with what the major platforms prefer.

Then, Libra's failure is also a consideration. So, I don't think it matters much. Talking about cross-border payments, Amazon has many payment methods that support worldwide payments, right?

If you can get people to use it, anyone should create a stablecoin. It is a way for the issuer to get dollars that they can earn interest on, without having to pay interest to the people holding your stablecoin. It is basically free money. Circle and Tether are going to get a whole lot of competition from established banks in the next couple of years.

It does not. The primary reason for which everyone is developing their own stuff is greed and power. If they really cared only about stuff like cross-payments they would just use an existing token and support its infrastructure. We don't need more stablecoins, layer 1 chains or tokens. We have more than enough, but greed controls most people so here we are.

They are Amazon and they will have an easier way to implement it since they've got a lot of customers and have an established name. It could click but it could also lead to misery as not all of their customers are aware with stable coins. So, that's probably why they don't do it and if their business is doing fine, they might not touch it for them to just keep doing it. Because any change could lead to massive losses on their end and that's why they don't even trying to touch any stable coin or crypto adopted on their platform. But thanks to the third parties that they're allowing gift cards to be exchanged for crypto. So maybe, they should just support those third parties that are allowing to do that.

Would not be easy for them, legally speaking.

It is not an easy thing for a 1+ trillion company to build their own stablecoin. The law related part of it would be such a huge deal that we are going to end up with bunch of issues on it if we are not careful.

This is why amazon will probably not do this since it would require them to handle SEC and courts and what not for many years before they can. They can accept and already existing stablecoin I would assume, but even that is an accounting hell. Just imagine the accounting firm (or inhouse I suppose?) that has to deal with accounting of amazon.

Must be a hell already as it is, I am sure that they wouldn't want to increase that to something even further and get more headaches.
