Have you ever made a mistake that resulted in the total or partial loss of your crypto assets?
Personally, like many people at the time, I stored my secret key in a file on my PC... which I accidentally deleted. I lost everything.

I think no matter how care free you may be pertaining this, you will most likely fall victim of this circumstances and otherwise become an accident. I was also in this situation and have lost hope already but what saved me was the fact that i sometimes write down some reasonable key password and that's how I was able to recover that assets.

Everyone can be careful and try their best to keep important wallet information so as not to experience accidents. Our ignorance regarding the risks that we are very likely to encounter makes people easily underestimate small things. This leads to carelessness. After the loss, they will feel regret for losing all their assets. Hopefully, they will become more concerned about this.

Yes, just missed BNB at its early stage, and the same thing repeated when BGB was around 0.5 cents, and I was observing like hell, but later I bought it at $8, still waiting to see major changes in my portfolio.

Basically, I try to learn from the mistakes and experiences of others so as to avoid making any type of mistakes on my own. Notwithstanding, I know that a time would come when no matter how cautious I am I would still make my own mistakes which is vital for personal experience on learning.

They are pardonable mistakes and there are mistakes that cannot be pardoned. If you do the former, you will be fine . If the latter, you will regret it for a long time to come.

Got corrupted metamask wallet file due to power outage. High chance that the file writing process got interrupted and it became corrupted. Apparently I didn't back my privkey nor the seed phrase. As a result I got corrupted metamask data that can't be accessed and lost my money about $300 .
It was really dumb, I thought I already backed it up.

Losing a wallet or private key shows just how fragile digital ownership really is unlike other assets where you might have a legal trail or an institution to fall back on in crypto once the keys are gone the asset is effectively gone forever that finality is what makes so many people cautious after the fact it’s not just about losing money it’s about the realization that one tiny slip a deleted file a broken hard drive even a spilled cup of coffee can erase years of savings or effort in seconds.

That’s why veterans always preach redundancy and diversification of storage one backup is never enough because if that single point fails everything fails safer practices mean splitting storage across hardware wallets paper backups and even metal plates that survive fire or water damage some go further using multisig wallets where access requires more than one key which lowers the risk of a single accident wiping everything people even store backups in different geographic locations to protect against natural disasters or theft,But beyond the technical side there’s also the mindset side people often underestimate the risk because they think it won’t happen to them until it does ignorance breeds carelessness then comes regret and after regret usually comes discipline once burned most never take key management lightly again they create detailed processes they rehearse recovery steps they warn others to avoid repeating their mistakes in a strange way the loss teaches a level of responsibility and awareness that becomes priceless later on in the crypto journey.

I can relate. I also experienced that kind of fatal situation where, just like you, I didn't even save my files on a USB drive when my PC had a problem. I had a saved seed
and a private key for some altcoins whose value had increased, and the amount was enough to buy a house and lot.

My regret was immense, but to avoid getting stressed or depressed, I just let it go. I just pretended that nothing had happened, and I've moved on.
Because if I kept thinking about it and getting stressed, it wouldn't bring the assets back anyway, to be honest.

A genuine crypto investor or trader would come out boldly to share the true story of their losses, because they are not made complete without having a loss story, so i also have my own to share, because i started very bad as at then, thinking that things are going to be more well with the way i invested on altcoins and how i do sell on panic at my early days in cryptocurrency, before losing to a certain extent and learnt my lessons.

Mistakes are bound to happen for a beginner in the crypto space that is the essence of having a mentor who guides you and teach you on the various things to do to avoid making mistakes which could result to them losing their hard earned money, yes the process of learning from the mistakes of others, learning from an experienced investor and being consistent is the best way to avoid the mistakes.

Fatal means deadly. As in, the result should be death. If I ever made a fatal mistake, then either me, or someone else should have been dead. That has never happened, I have never made any crypto mistake that resulted in death of anyone.

That is something I am pretty sure nobody here has done as well, if anyone has ever had any FATAL mistakes, I would like to learn how that happened. I mean I have heard about it, like people who unalive themselves after making a big mistake and losing all their money, but that is not something they can come here and write. So let's assume that nobody here made any fatal mistakes. And if you ask big mistakes where we lost money? Everyone made some, it's the most common thing in all of crypto.

Everyone got a story to tell but being able to learn from the mistakes comes with a lot of confidence and patience. And as a trader you're not above making loses cause it's meant to occur snd you should be ready for it, but the manner in which you manage the situations matters in every way.

I'm pretty sure almost everyone might have made mistakes which resulted in losses. Humans learn from their mistakes so it actually is a good thing to make a mistake but repeating that mistake is foolishness. I'm pretty sure, you won't store your keys again on any such file and will take utmost care of those.

For me, my mistake once was trusting all dApps and linking my metamask wallet without doing proper research. One of the dApp had multiple clauses which resulted in all of my funds being transferred to an unknown wallet.

Even now, if I deposit even a single penny it gets transferred right away to that unknown wallet which I'm pretty sure someone developed in such a way. Not only me, but a lot of others have ended up being scammed such way. This made me realise how dangerous it is to link your wallet to any unknown dApps.

Everyone got a story to tell but being able to learn from the mistakes comes with a lot of confidence and patience. And as a trader you're not above making loses cause it's meant to occur snd you should be ready for it, but the manner in which you manage the situations matters in every way.

Traders must be able to manage themselves when experiencing losses and also manage their capital before they occur. While avoiding losses before they occur is usually possible, traders can do so as long as they know how and possess a reasonable level of patience. However, there's no guarantee of success when it comes to losses and profits, even though every trader always takes advantage of every opportunity to achieve their goals and profit before they experience losses due to price corrections in the market.

For sure, but unlike some people in here answering to this, i don't see if i missing out on something as fatal a mistake. Hell it might as well been same kind of mistake to buy it and not something else. No one knows beforehand. Everyone has missed out on something.

I have lost some to exit scams, and send to wrong addresses. Invested to scams and dying projects. And once in a blue moon, to coins that mooned.

Thing i have learned so far is that you can always come back from nothing. You just need luck and determination. Not giving up trying is best advice i can give. If something fails, try another approach.

A similar thing happened to me in 2020. At the time, I had around $2,500 in Bitcoin stored in a personal wallet, which I was still using Electrum. Unfortunately, the smartphone I was using suddenly stopped working due to a hardware failure. I immediately panicked because my wallet recovery backup was stored there. I tried to repair the smartphone in the hope of regaining access to the wallet, but all my hopes were in vain because the machine had to be replaced and all the data stored on it could not be recovered.

After that, I tried to save the recovery backup in several different places as a precaution so that the same incident would not happen again. Carelessness and mistakes can happen to anyone, but all of them are valuable lessons to be more alert so that the same incident does not happen again.
