I just signed up and have seen ton wallet now available. What do the real crypto guys think about it? never even heard of ton and its available to a very large crowd.. the mobile app cant verify on same phone easily due to bugs on minimizing which is stupid for an audience that large. killing crypto maybe backed by the big banks...conspiracy?

I hate to hear about crypto (except bitcoin) because of how they are shit coins and full of manipulation, but know that even something greater than Telegram and other things that are centralized like exchanges and banks can not kill crypto.

There is a way that you can get seed phrase which is in 24 words but when I tested it on BIP39 tool, I noticed it is not a BIP 39 seed phrase. Yes, I agree with you. The Telegram wallet is completely centralized.

AFAIK, there are several versions of the TON address. If you are using TON Keeper wallet, you'll see several versions (not all, depent on your first address creation). The first is the W5 W5 version and the second is W5 v4R2 version. These will generate different addresses. You can check by importing your seedphrase into the TON Keeper wallet. You might find the first address you own. If not, you can ask your Mobile app wallet support.

Its not new, pretty old and I think very very confusing to use for the first time. And I'm saying this as someone who kinda knows how to use wallets. Seed phrase is super hard to find. There's way too many options also, but all centralized wallets seem to have 100 things you don't need.

It is super convenient tho, you can send to usernames without doing anything else a traditional wallet needs (like address). To be objective this kind of easy functionality is what Bitcoin would do well to have.

I would not use this wallet as there have been many complaints about funds being blocked. When blocked, KYC will be required, and even this does not guarantee the funds will be unfrozen. This is a custodial wallet. If you want to have a wallet inside Telegram, then there are a lot of verified non-custodial bot wallets, including those from well-known crypto exchanges.

I've never checked whether it's BIP39 or not. I'm not active on Telegram Wallet, but I use it when I'm working on Notcoin and Dogs tasks.

They also provide an exchange with P2P, so it's normal for them to require KYC. As long as you're not suspected of account farming, your account won't be blocked. If you're blocked, and you can provide valid proof, it should be unblocked. I once had tokens that couldn't be withdrawn because I mistakenly entered the built-in address instead of the TON space. The process so far is good, and I received the tokens I requested after following their procedure. However, I agree that it's better not to use the built-in wallet if you don't want to do KYC.

Of course this is correct. It is better to use any wallet directly, rather than through some other service. But basically, Telegram has such an opportunity if someone absolutely needs to use such a bot wallet.
In general, there is MyTonWallet or Tonkeeper specifically for TON, which is preferable to using a custodial wallet in Telegram.

Telegram wallet integration gives it huge reach, but it’s still new to most people outside crypto circles since we only knew them as social group channel and chatting.

The wallet might have bugs and awkward verification flow but I already used it and so far its working good. I dont understand what you mean conspiracy? Nothing wrong with ton wallet, at all.

Ton Coins and its Telegram wallet have been around for quite some time. It seems you're new, so you're also experiencing this issue. It is quite helpful because it can provide for many coins in one wallet, but for security reasons it is better to consider it because everything related to Telegram crypto needs to be watched out for.

I only used the wallet for airdrops, but that was last year. When many were disappointed, the wallet was barely touched, not knowing if there were still funds there.

If you can, it's always better to use wallet app designed specifically for wallet only because it concerns about security much more than extension of an app like ton wallet.
I've tried it and I think the UX is as simple as other wallet, personally never liked it.

On the second point if you are talking about phone verification on telegram, yeah they sucked, even using new mobile phone number they won't allow you to verify and I've got plenty of people that faced the same problem. The problem is there for more than a year already.

I have been the integrated TON wallet on Telegram and it is convenient of you are pretty into the app and desire to make some micro-payments/ micro-purchases within it with cryptocurrencies, only using a minimum part of your money, as we are talking about a hot wallet/custodial wallet.
If you are going to hold an important amount of money on TON, Bitcoin or USDT, then I would not recommend you to use the integrated wallet on Telegram to store it, it is better to use a hardware wallet and have total control over your money.

Just like the OP, there are lots of folks who are yet to know about Ton (The Open Network), a layer 1 alt that's decentralized and founded by Nikolia Durov, the Ton coin is built on Tonblockchain and from my understanding Nikolia is related with Telegram that's why a wallet was intergerated in Telegram. Those who participated in the Tap to earn projects back then on Telegram and other ones like Dogs, Cats etc should already be familiar with the Toncoin cause those are memecoins built on Tonblockchain. Anyways to be on a saver side instead of saving in the Telegram wallet those who buy the idea of Ton and are thinking of owning it can store it on the Tonkeeper wallet.

Don't trust any of that because all that their are after is to get hold and control your coins so if you take telegram Wallet serious you be heading to a wrong direction regardless of how popular their have becomes in recent time, I cant and I don't trust them for anything even with all the hypes around them.


What the use of having a wallet that I can't recover or have my seedphrass with me, and for sure it will be losing my freedom for my coin just like what I have with exchange.

It's an inferior wallet.

I would personally never use it. You lost access to your telegram account and suddenly your money vanished. Mind you it's not strange for people to lost access to their telegram account.
Just use the proper mobile wallet that is self custody and where truly own your crypto. You're literally need 1 minute to set it up and you're already being spared from having the custodial wallet instead of these self custody wallet where you truly own your crypto.

I got to know about telegram inbuilt wallet during the crazy era of telegram airdrops from different programs, hamster, dog, tapswap etc but I didn't use it because I know it is not secured as it is custodian type of wallet where you don't have access to the private key. That is risky to use. Ton keeper wallet is what is preferred instead because it is non custodian. I fear to use such wallet that has third party control like exchanges too, if you have fund with them you need to be careful despite not much negative incident but it is better playing safe. Stay away from them if you can.

I've been noticing something different with the Telegram wallet regarding TON lately, unlike before. But I don't really care since I don't use the Telegram wallet,
nor do I do any swapping activity on it.

Regarding the TON wallet on Telegram, I'm not that familiar with its features either, because I lost my motivation to use it ever since I saw the airdrop scams
that happened there since last year.
