As expected, Philippines fell to Australia in a blowout. What’s funny is they didn’t even bring out their best.. I didn’t see the big names. Just the young guns, and they still beat what’s supposed to be a strong Gilas lineup.

On the bright side, I hit my live bet at the end of the 3rd quarter,  took Gilas +25.5 and just squeaked it in. A win’s a win.

Our country should invest more in the young guns. This is what we need to have. We have neve won against Australia and there will be another matches next year on March and July 2026, while we might expect to have the same results. As long as there will be no changes in the Gilas program, we'll never win on teams like Australia. The PBA should also coordinate on this one, players like Junemar is only good in the local league but when there's the international games like FIBA, he can't stand to the taller players. That's why the rules of PBA about limitation in height should be changed and removed.

This really means that Gilas still need to develop more since we've seen lots of errors on their game today. Australia is so strong for them and even on early quarters we could see that Philippines winning chance is so low.

They were up against the number 7 team in the world, so a loss was already expected. But honestly, I liked how they played in the second half, they showed a lot of heart. They couldn’t beat Australia, but at least they kept it closer than many thought. Losing by this margin isn’t surprising at all.

In fact, Gilas even took the 3rd quarter 22–21, just by a single point. But in the 4th, Australia made their adjustments and didn’t allow Gilas to go on a run.

For real, Our big man is outclassed with the natural big on this international level of competition on sports that height matters the most.

PH has a decent 3 point shooting but not enough to cover for Australia easy basket when attacking PH defense. We should be proud that we manage to give a good fight on teams that belongs to top 10 in the world.

But now it’s only going to get harder for us to compete, especially with the new PBA rule that bans players who played in international competitions from joining the league. It sends the message that they’re not really welcome anymore, but when the country needs them, they’re expected to serve. LOL.

Speaking of big men, we actually had a seven-footer who could have given us solid inside presence and bothered the opponent, but unfortunately he got injured. I still remember a Gilas squad with Kai Sotto surprising Latvia, which is also a top-ranked team also.

It’s always good to watch PH matches because of the crowd support. We always have the home court advantage no matter what country they are playing. LOL.

Iran is still a tough team in the FIBA Asia, even without Hamed Haddadi on the roster. I still remember him when he was active with the team, but by now the culture is already built, they don’t give up easily. If I remember correctly, they were down by as much as 21 points but still came back to beat Taipei. That kind of experience is probably where Iran has the advantage. Meanwhile, China beat South Korea.

We are very far from what we need. We are still depending to Justiin brownlee in offense, more than 50% i think of the offense is set for out naturalize player.
We have good young guns in the futrure but i dont think they are good to consder, we are way far from realty. Our offense and defense tactics are still the old basketball.
But I hope that we can make it, we can start by investing to young players and build more chemistry on them.

That’s right, our best chance to compete internationally properly is to attract mixed blood Filipino-Other race to join our basketball team during the olympics and FIBA.

We have a lot of good mixed Filipino players on the NBA that can give our country ranking a big boost. Our country just need to realize that we can’t increase our rank with pure heart since other team have that inspiration too while they have physique advantage.

New Zealand vs Lebanon, what a game... Lebanon had a strong first half, leading by 15 points, but New Zealand came back with a huge second half to take the win, this is the second time I’ve seen a strong team start poorly and still end up winning. The first was Iran, who also had a big second-half comeback.

Lots of surprises in this tournament, and as a bettor, I think some of these situations are great opportunities to bet on a struggling team at halftime.
If they turn it around and win, the payout can be huge.

True, the passion and love for basketball here is unmatched, but at the FIBA level, skill alone isn’t enough when you’re up against teams with clear physical and height advantages. Until Tim cone, develop a system that maximizes the strengths, speed, shooting, and teamwork of the Gilas Line up we’ll always be fighting uphill. Popularity fuels hope, but reality demands strategy. Imagine if Kai Sotto was present, maybe theres a huge difference in result as Kaiju is an experience player outside league and know how to handle foreign players.

Australia for sure because they have a solid lineup that dominates Asia region. I’m skeptical on who’s gonna win between China and New Zealand but if I will bet my money goes to New Zealand.

Still the most dominating team on FIBA Asia is always the country like Australia with many strong team capable of competing strong team in EU and US.

PH is so far to be on this caliber.

I decided to place 2 set of parlay bet on the remaining 2 match with Australia involved.

This way I’m only risking 50% of my bet in case China lose while 86% profit if China won. Doing this since I want to place a bet but still undecided between China and NZ.

All of the 4 are strong teams but I think, between Australia and Iran. I am expecting that Australia is going to make.
The China and New Zealand is also a good match up but, I'm thinking that this goes for New Zealand.
Despite that China is currently leading the game, I still think that there's enough time for the NZ to win this since it's Q2 of the game.

China won. New Zealand didn’t find a way to stop China since every time they are having a good run China keep answering back with same level of aggressiveness.

China 3 points shot on the last 3 minutes is so sick. Their shooting form is so odd yet it keeps coming in the ring even the force shot.

I think they might have a chance to Australia in finals in case they keep this same level of play since they have a strong rebound too.

Thanks, it looks like the Australians is the huge favorite here, although I wanted the Philippines to win against them, but they are too much for Gilas as they have a lot o firepower and when they build a huge lead, the Philippines was not able to mount any comeback.

Really excited to see how China will handle Australia later..Aussies are very defensive and they’ve got solid shooting, so it’s gonna be interesting to watch how China matches up.
