Relevance of Ivory Tower sub

Serious Discussion and Ivory Tower subs posts aren't that many for obvious reasons but Elite Tower is kinda dead. Is it relevant to keep it after all these years? I think merging it with Serious Discussion will be better.

I think the reason the two boards exist is that they have different restrictions

1. You need to be at least of a Jr Member rank to post in Serious Discussion board, and at least of a Full Member rank in order to post in Ivory Tower board.

2. Posts in Serious Discussion do not increase your post count but just activate potential activity period, while those in Ivory Tower neither increase the post count nor activate the potential activity period.

I must agree that there is less activity over there, perhaps because of less spam these days and the merit system effect (not easy to rank up like back in the day) but there is no harm in the existence of those boards. If anything, they should first get rid of boards like the press board.

It is pretty irrelevant -- the only difference between it and Serious Discussion is that you have to be a Full Member or higher to post there. However, Ivory Tower isn't doing any harm where it is... Its existence isn't particularly offensive, and I suppose there may occasionally be times when someone wants to post something and not have the thread overrun by low level accounts or sig spammers.

Yes but the differences isn't that big.

If anything, they should first get rid of boards like the press board.

That was suggested long time ago but the spam level declined a lot since most signature campaigns no longer counts posts there. Instead many topics shifted to Bitcoin Discussion.

I agree there is no harm and at the same time there is no point to have another archival-like.
As I mentioned above, signature campaign members avoid wasting their time in both subs since no signature shown in both subs.

I don't have any problem with Ivory Tower or any other inactive sub, I just prefer to merge them with the main one to avoid having so many subs without a valid reason, just like local section. Theymos et al. do not open a new one unless there is sufficient people and posts.
