We've had some discussions here regarding fix matches being real or not, but today something astonishing happened where I was watching today's game that made me start to believe this narrative about fix matches being true.


Today someone came in where we were watching the Crystal Palace vs. Liverpool community shield game, a fan of Manchester United, and joined our table of discussion. As the discussion was on going, the supporter said his friend gave him the Liverpool vs. Crystal Palace match to bet as a fixed FT draw. Most of us did not believe it until he showed us where he staked the game, and at that point Liverpool were already leading by 2:1, so he said he was about to lose #100,000 (Nigerian Naira), but he's not worried because there was an agreement they had that if the game did not play, his friend is going to refund him. Particularly, I do not totally believe in a possible fixed match of a thing, but to my gratest surprise, I couldn't believe how the game ended in a 90-minute draw.

According to the guy, he said this is not the first time, that he's friend trust he's source, whereas he never disclosed any information to us upon our efforts trying to get more info.

Discussions about fixed matches have been coming up recently...I'm doubting the fact that they actually exist but when It comes to big leagues there's no way that's happening..,How much are they hoping to get from a sports book that they don't make as a league or club...we all know the amounts of money people spent to buy players, just signing a new player cost millions of dollars and a club can sign 4 players in particular season especially clubs in top leagues

what is an 100 thousand naira when we are talking about fixing a match? it is so small that it does not in any way influence the outcome of any game and is never worth the risk of fixing a match. maybe your friends source has the ability to do proper analysis that has high probability of giving him good returns. there are people that are good risk takers that have masters the art of selecting games that might not be seen by the majority of people.

if you want to think of stakes that makes you think that at some point such games can be fixed is what the likes of drake does when he uses an amount that is extremely huge to make his prediction. even with that, he still looses most of the time which shows that it is not just too easy for anyhow person to try to influence the outcome of a game that is played by all people all people across all the part of the world. fix matches happens but you can not really determine which is a fixed match just by mere analysis on a single game from one individual.

Fixed matches are real, of course, but nobody expects them in the big leagues. In a big game like the Community Shield. I also would not like to undermine the efforts of Crystal Palace because they worked hard for the win in the second half.

For me, I say it was just a lucky prediction.

I wouldn't call it a fixed match but a good prediction from someone who understands the strength of both clubs. Big leagues don't involve in fixed matches because the consequences are far higher than the advantage and no one will play stupid. The match was filled with thrill and endless actions for that reason; I wouldn't believe that the match was fixed.

I believe in match fixing or pre-determined fixed matches because I am primarily a cricket fan and I have experienced match fixing in cricket several times. Sometimes there are many players who are banned for match fixing and they mainly engage in such match fixing by contracting with betting sites. Players earn huge amounts of dollars for match fixing, and betting and gambling sites that fix matches essentially make huge amounts of undisclosed profits on those matches.

It is about $66 so my assumption is it's just an educated guess not actual insider information, who can mix match in the level of the match you are talking about.

In general, fixed matches are real and there are proven cases about players who had great potential to progress in their career but ended up in jail or banned from participation at any level while it is cases where millions of dollars are involved and only a few can make it happen not for a hundred dollar it is not possible. Convince me I am wrong.

Off cause matches are fixed and if you can get it then you are good to go but the funny thing there is that even if someone told you this particular game is fixed sometimes you won't believe the person untill it happened and even when you agree with the person you won't still heavy stake the game because you are still having some doubt within yourself but it is normal because sometimes it can be wrong information and you can lose a lot of money. As a matter of fact this is one of the reason some people owe debt because of this kind of situation, someone will just come and give you game that it is fixed and you will go borrow money hoping to pay back with the profit that will come out when you don't have any source of income and you are not sure of the game either. I have friends that predict game and sometimes they always say a particular game is fixed and no matter how they play it, it will end draw sometimes it happens while sometimes it doesn't.

I doubt they fix matches at such level and the community shield happening a draw is not something to make us draw such conclusions. Rest assured fixed matches happen everywhere otherwise I don't explain the transfer cost of 100 million Euros or more for a single player yet they don't exist in such an open game like the one describing here. I think his friend only gave him info which maybe is his own idea or prediction like in many other cases otherwise if he was so sure that it would be definitely a draw then he could have bet his house on the even and in case of a win had two new houses  , oh wait he never did that, did he? Of course not as there are many as this friend of yours, I personally know a handful of such persons.

It's only local league sub league could have such chances of manipulating matches and if you watch me carefully I do not like going for sub league or local league because they are mostly being influenced and rigged. But this could be very hard for a higher leagues because they pays more attention to them so, any manipulation would be thoroughly dig out to know those that are involved in such activities and could get penalized.

I am still having doubt about these fixed matches, and just as the OP stated, anyone that claimed to have fixed game is not disclosing where it came from, it always secrete between them and the game supplier, should we we call it luck or perfection in analysis and prediction? Or should we also call it fixed game?

What I understand here is that, some people are very good in guessing, and some people are very good in making analysis. Since Crystal Palace did well towards the end of last season to win the FA Cup ahead of many big teams, they had the potential and the chance to also win this match today; and for the fact that Liverpool has signed some players and lost some, they will surely fight hard to get the trophy which is the reason why the match was played like that.

Although, Liverpool wasn’t playing well in the second half, I was even expecting Palace to win the match before 90 minutes, but the pressure Liverpool was putting towards the ending, they really wanted to win the trophy as well, and the players looks very sad at the end. How can this be a fixed game?

Matches that are fixed have been reported in the past because the accomplice was caught and due to the unusual nature of the game play. You will find them in leagues that many people, including the media, are not interested in, that is, lower leagues where the wages are low. The players and officials may become accomplices here because their earnings are low and the gain from carrying out the act is high financially.

The big leagues have stricter regulations to catch any fixed match even before it happens, and if it does slip, the penalty is very stringent for those involved. Besides, players and officials in big leagues earn way more than those in lower leagues; therefore, the promise of any higher financial gain will not even catch their attention.

Fixed matches are reality, but i doubt that they would do everything in their power not to leak their winners, and someone blabbing their mouth could be in real danger, as the word eventually gets out and it's criminals they are babbling about. So i really doubt that anyone would be as stupid, that they would leak the info.

But there's a one other option that i can think of. In tv series Peaky Blinders (that was based on reality), criminals leaked winners of fixed horse races intentionally, and after people started betting a lot based on those tips, they double-crossed the public and gave name of the wrong horse, so others lost money and criminals got good odds for their horse.

Match fixing is real, but I doubt if anyone involved would dare leak out such a secret because they know the dire consequences for exposing such as their lives would also be at risk, but still, I wonder how such information leaks. There have been lots of scenarios of such in the past in other sports, also, among players and coaches who were penalized for such acts. However, I believe fixed matches are common in local leagues with small teams, not too popular to attract attention, so that their things would be done within themselves and not attract international committee.

that was exactly what happened tody, I even told the guy that he doesn’t know what to use his money for, and why he would be relying on someone else's predictions in the name of a fixed match.

So... I don't even need to get into the merits about if this actually happening, right?
With so many cases already documented at various leagues around the world, with several players and even soccer referees punished for this, there aren't denying that there is indeed an underground market for irregular betting.

But... I am also sure there are many rumors and hearsay just to move money... coincidences or even misinterpretations by some bettors about a game that was simply "poorly played"

I've heard several stories like the one you told.... many people claim to know the result from "a friend of another friend". I just ignore them most of the time because I prefer to stick to my strategy and assume that these frauds are isolated cases these days.

He most likely just got really lucky, sorry to disappoint. You should observe with him since you are just here myself we might be back on the current summer ambitions but we don’t. Think of this as just wasting have some moved from moge.

Personally I do not doubt anyone that talks about match fixing but we should understand the difference between match fixing and good prediction so that we do not contradict the two. Your friend that predicted the Palace and Liverpool game to be draw must have gotten the information from those people that are involved in pool games because most of them have that mentality of england games to always come out draw so when they are lucky with a bet they usually see all games as fixed games. Fixed games do exist but that can only happen in the bush leagues there there would be less monitoring of the games.

That's really surprising, because these things can happen, There's always corruption everywhere, information can be leaked, and now that the referees have control of the VAR and everything, we don't know how much they were paid to get a certain result, Everything is a business now, and even in football, dirty and corrupt dealings continue to be seen. In match fixes cases I have heard, it's always some criminals who approach players (never heard of sportsbook) to fix games and regarding money, man's thirst for money is endless, and if one is getting paid well for little 'effort' (sure, the potential for disastrous consequences is there) then they may decide to do it.
