Today the Eurobasket finally begins and I got the best timing to arrive in Europe. So I won't have to watch the games in the night, as I usually have to. The Germany game will start at 3:30pm, just perfect. Gonna watch that one and the Latvia vs Turkey game which begins right after.
What a great first day I have on my Europe trip, great food and watching Eurobasket.

Not the same case here, my timezone makes it a bit more difficult to see the games live. I did manage, though, to see the game between GB vs Lithuania, and it was like a preparation match for Lithuania. With a +20 points difference, can't say much for the game. Only that Valanciunas looks strong and ready to lead his team.

Good warmup for Lithuania. We made just 2 3-pointers from 19, but also, Lithuania made all time Eurobasket record with 54 rebounds.
Turkey made big statement by beating hosts Latvia 73:93 and making Arena Riga completely silent. Expected close game until last seconds and we got such big result.
Portugal made surprise by beating Czech Republic. Honestly, without Vesely and Satoransky Czech Republic is very meiacore team. Though, scoring just 50 points in whole game against team like Portugal is shameful

Turkey defeated Latvia 73-93 in their first group match.
I expected the match to be tough, but it turned out to be easier than I expected.
Latvia failed to capitalize on their home advantage.
Latvia only showed some resistance in the first period. They were ineffective in the remaining periods.
Kenan Sipahi surprised me the most.
I didn't expect him to contribute so much.
Serbia is the big favorite in this group; they will easily defeat Türkiye. My concern is Estonia. Estonia could have a tough match.

I should have made some couple bucks today but I wasn't lucky enough. Well, I had zero interest in basketball until last few weeks when a close friend gave me a code for that. I was Impressed with the Turkey and Latvia game as they gave me exactly what I wanted. The momentum from the German machines during the 3rd and 4th quarter was hell.

We played quite strongly in offense against Latvia today. We got a big score contribution from nearly all of our starting five. Our performance in defensive rebounds was also impressive.

This win by a 20-point is a solid start for us in the end. The biggest threat our group is Serbia of course. We might lose that one but I believe we have a good potential to win all the remaining games.

I don't doubt Alperen and Cedi on this road. I just hope Larkin can also continue to perform like this consistently.

I didn't have a chance to watch the Turkey match yesterday, but I was glad we won. Seeing our performance in the friendly matches, I wasn't optimistic. It was nice to beat the hosts, Latvia, by a large margin yesterday.
I watched the first half of the Serbia match, and it was clear that Serbia would defeat Estonia by a large margin.
There's no team in Europe right now that can beat Serbia with their current roster.
They're the heavy favorite in this tournament.
Today's most interesting match is Greece vs. Italy. I'll watch it if I get the chance.

Turkey played a very entertaining basketball game.
In the last quarter, we played poorly thinking we had already won the game, but overall it was a very good match.
A basketball player named Alperen is 23 years old and a very good player; he could become a star in the future.
I didn’t have much hope, but turkey really has quality players.

Indeed was a very bad start for them, but at least they have the excuse that they are missing enough players from their roster. Georgia takes the chance and gets the win, which will be valuable for them. However, one defeat or one win doesn't affect much now.
Serbia was partying and smashed Estonia by 34 points difference. Markkanen leads Finland to a great victory against Sweden by 3 points (which proves that it will be a tough opponent for anyone), Turkey makes it easy against Latvia (I won my first bet), and Israel had Roman Sorkin in great form and won Iceland. Let's see what the rest of today's matches will bring.

A tough loss for Spain, no doubt. Spain, which has always been at the very top, currently doesn’t have a team that can do more than possibly advance from the group. A generation change has happened, and the Gasol brothers can’t play forever
Still, i believe a new generation will come that will keep Spain at the level it used to be

Change of generations sometimes is painful, but Spain has bright future. Look how their youth teams dominate in all age group championships. In this Eurobasket they're not going with any expectations and big goals. Still, didn't expected that they will lose to Georgia.

Yeah it was a home court advantage for Latvia but Turkey was just too strong for them. Alperen Sengun was really good on defense and Kristaps Porzingis I guess didn't play well imo.
But the good thing is Kristaps Porzingis playing in EuroBasket 2025, because as I remember he didn't play in the FIBA World Cup qualifier, like against the Philippines.

I'll never forget that Latvia vs Philippines game, when the Philippines won in Riga, Latvia. That was the first time the Philippines ever beat a European team in FIBA iirc.

From what I saw until now, referees' calls are not so controversial. I didn't watch the match between Finland and Sweden, but from the scoreline, it looks like a hard game.
Greece did the job mostly with its defensive line, great and massive. As for the odds for the match between Slovenia and Poland, Slovenia was the favorite with nearly the same odds as Greece. I'm guessing that this was a mistake from the bookmakers, based on Doncic's appearance.

I watched the game. Really impressive from Giannis 31/7/2. Great stats, the man is truly world class. I thought Spain would show up against Georgia, but they lost and not by a small margin. A possible threat for Greece could be Bosnia and Herzegovina, but if Giannis keeps playing like this, they will definitely finish first in the group.

Well to be fair, Italy doesn't really have a player that could actually stop Giannis, the matchup is just too favorable for him. He made it look easy at times and thanks to him they on that game.
Georgia vs Spain was really disappointing if you had hopes for Spain. They basically continued the trend they showed in their exhibition games so far. The group is relatively strong so they shouldn't allow themselves any more hickups.

Yeah, they just proved the rumors were true about them being a disappointment this EuroBasket. Mamukelashvili and Bitadze ate them. I guess Spain will not be the wild card this year. I even had high hopes for the Hernangomez brothers to step up their game, or maybe they don't have the same energy as last EuroBasket. Also, that's not an MVP caliber for Willy.

Their next game is against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Nurkic will be a pain in the ass for them.

Türkiye played incredibly well again, and everyone on the team excelled. We weren't very defensively strong in the first period, but we played brilliantly the rest of the game. Alperen Şengün and Cedi Osman played so well that if they continue this way for the rest of the tournament, I'm confident we'll finish in the top three.
Even in a game where Shane Larkin didn't score, we scored over 90 points and had no problems offensively. Alperen Şengün had a triple-double (-1 assist).

The Czech Republic attacked very well and played a very tough defense, and it was great that we managed to get through this match without any injuries. There are some minor issues, but I think they'll be fine by tomorrow. The Portugal match is crucial, and that game will be very tough
