Couple months ago, I jumped into research on how to know if your data is safe or has been leaked on dark wed without you noticing.
As someone who works or does some online jobs and has registered in so many site, and have has participated in so many crypto projects, that involved registration with your email, there's a time, that a platform I have used before and stopped using for Couple of years, but later the need to use the platform arise, when I used a particular password which I used then, I got a pop up notification that this password go involved in a data bridge. So I began to research how to verify this on you, and found a website called “pentester”

This platform is a cyber security platform that helps you scan your data penatration on the web, and help you scan data's such as email, passwords, phone number leaked, date of birth you used are exposed on the dark wed, there's a free search result and also a paid plan to disclose more details, and low and behold I was able to find my email, phone number, even the password I was using then, I had to change every detail I was using then.

So I decided to bring this to the awaness of this our local board, for people that are not aware to become aware, always integrate Google Authentication on all your social accounts, or any place you have registered online, because some of the platform we registered used to sell or leak our data. And I even saw the list of platforms that I have used that compromise my data, stay safe and stay secure online by protecting your privacy.



Here are some Tips to stay safe on the cyber space.

1. always use an email that's not attached to any exchange platform which you use or trade cryptocurrencies.
2. Don't use a phone number that is linked to your online social media account or bank Account.
3. Ensure you integrate Google Authentication across all your App, and social media accounts.
4. Don't Use same password for a long period of time.

There are lots of sites you can use to do that but most are paid(which means you have to subscribe to get a full detail about it) , there’s rehashed, haveibeenpwned  and lot more tools to look that up..Although this will contain lots of other compromised credentials apart from checking yours particularly..Another method is getting the torrents uploaded on D-web from time to time  but that could be dangerous as you might download a malware instead..
You advice are good actually, you should add this too.. Avoid unnecessary registration on every site you visit..

This is a good advice but I have a way avoid things like this to occur. I have two separate passwords, emails and phone number that serves different purposes. For my important sites that has to do with finance or containing private important information's. I use a specific details there, and I dont save passwords. While for random sites, I use any password for them. I am doing this to stay safe.

For the free plan this pentester required only email, and I was shocked with them showing me the hints of the password I used, and how was that supposed to be possible?, the data bridge, we all need to be extremely careful, we don't know who is watching us, especially when you're a Bitcoin and #cryptocurrency person, moving funds here and there.

Op, you raised some crucial points here and this data leaks are not new, majority of sites we use today used to sell your data, even Facebook sometime in April 10 and 11 2018, testified before the congress men regarding a possible data leaks for political advertisement, if I'm not wrong, and he admitted about the company's mistakes.
Some Apps we used secretly collects and sell our data, I used to notice how video or content that I watched on TikTok, will appear on my Facebook timeline, Instagram, Twitter and even on YouTube, how did they manage to know that? And forward those ads across other of my social media platforms that I use.

You can even do yourself more harm than good, especially when you did not properly secure or protect your i.p address to try to run a torrent upload on the dark web.

Many people underestimate how easily their personal information can end up on the dark web, especially when using the same password across multiple platforms.
I agree with your advice on enabling Google Authenticator (2FA) and using separate emails and phone numbers for sensitive accounts. I’d also add that people should regularly check for data breaches on trusted platforms and never click suspicious links that could lead to phishing attempts.

This is the most common mistakes people do in the cyberspace. Sometimes we even use the same password across different platforms including confidential documents which has lead to many compromising their security across multiple platforms.

Although most times the worries with Most people is the fear of forgetting some passwords but to me it's safer to click on the forgot password route as many times as possible than to become vulnerable due to lack of precautions while using the cyberspace.

I just came across this post today, nice one OP people have to take this very serious, “no b play something”. I’ve been a victim of scam from a site I registered online, sometime in 2021 my bank account was hacked somehow there was no missing atm card or any link I clicked, I just started seeing debits thank God I just bought some goods that period, So it wasn’t a very huge fund that was left but it was something, they first started small with recharge Cards and then moved to send 5k, 10k until they emptied the Account by the time I could get to the bank the deed was already done and when asked what happened the customer attendant said it was from a site I visited, it was only a betting site I visited that period Since then I’m very Careful about putting my details online.
I had to delete everything block the account block my bank from online transactions,changed passwords. I learnt the hard way and it wasn’t funny.
So guys should take this very serious.
