I check on this section but not found anything related just because of this creating this topic because for me its important one I am from Pakistani community where now 3 merit sources are approved but @irfan_pak10 never been online after approval of his merit source application what is point to have merit source like him.

Maybe my community will stand against me after this thread but still I want to ask from community what is point of merit source and if someone is having no time then why we have merit source like him in last 7 months just 7 posts and once came online is this ok or just waste of sources hopefully someone will give better update about this issue.

Irfan_pak10, the merit source application was made since 2020 when he was very active on the forum, and he and three others from your local board were approved recently. If he’s not active, you should still have two others who are very active on the local board as merit sources. People have life outside the forum; maybe he is probably busy with something else; you never can tell.

I have also searched, and I could not find anything in relation to inactive merit sources. As far as I know, they will continue to be merit sources until the admin decides to replace them or remove them entirely, just as he did last time when he approved more than 15 new merit sources and replaced old inactive ones. You just have to be patient until the admin has time for the merit source update.

He's still very fit to remain a merit source, I looked up his profile and I found he was last active July 19th this year and considering the time span from there till now it's not even up to a month (it's a little common with some members) chances have it that he never knew he was a source.

Rather than creating this thread your local board community should consider trying to reach out to him off the forum (could help) since from his profile he's a quite trusted person here.

I have no personal issue with anyone here I post this just for information because community needs active merit sources who encourage newbies as Pakistan is one of the best countries who are doing good in crypto and need more peoples to help out newbies with their knowledge and experience.

@irfan_pak10 done good work in the past, but now he is busy with his new business so if he is not able to give time surely he needs to give update about this here on this forum about this.

Being a merit source is not a paid job.

I see he is one of the newly appointed sources, and he announced that on June 11 means theymos considered him as an active member. If he isn't active or sharing the merit then he may lose his merit source status in the next update until that let the remaining active members to contribute to the active members for the quality posts.

And so that you know, not only merit source sends merits, anyone who earns merit can also spend it.

Man, I don't even understand why you would complain about this! To my surprise, I didn't even knew Pakistan had 3 merit sources! While others are struggling to get just 1, you guys have 3 sources! No board yet so many sources. You do realize the benifits you are guys are getting, right? If I belonged to your local, I would have been grateful . I wish we had one source. Also, as Findingnemo said, being a merit source isn't a paid job. You cannot tell a source how to be one. Everyone has different preferences when it comes to merits, and you must realize we have a life outside of this forum!

Anyway, one thing I wanna know, did you ask your local folks or irfan_pak10 why he wasn’t distributing his allocated merits? This could have been solved easily there.

I'm not sure whether you are aware of this but every merit source gets different amount of merits. So this could be one of the reasons why he didn't/couldn't distribute much to your local members.

@irfan_pak10 is not only a merit source but a valuable bounty manager that most of us know. I believe there's some reason why he isn't much active these days but it's too early to decide that he isn't doing his job as a merit source. I hope soon he'll come back to the forum and might start doing his job by meriting merit worthy posts of that local board.

Ok, so he was appointed recently and has hardly been online since then. I'd say that he will remain a merit source for a while, even if inactive but if this keeps going he will be removed at some point.

I think OP has got a point here. I don't know him or irfan_pak10 but there is no much point in having an inactive merit source.

Things happen so fast in life, my friend. While some people might open up about what's going on in their lives, others may not. The good thing is that he is not the only merit source available, even in your board. Maybe he will make a comeback in the near future, but even when he doesn't Theymos will take care of this when he is updating or adding new merit sources in the future. There's no need for panic or concern.

My only thought is that his probably engaged with much activities that is taking up his time, since he was active last month and sent out merits it also means op and any other person dissatisfied with him should have patience for because they have 2 others doing the voluntary job.

They might have to wait quite a while for that. New merit sources were added based on existing applications. If there were members who wanted to be a merit source, they should've applied. We don't know when theymos will make an update again but I don't think it will be anytime soon. In the past, there were also members who were merit sources but weren't active on the forum or didn't use their source allocations at all. I don't think irfan_pak10 being active or not will change much. Especially if there are already two more sources in that local section, they won't have any problems. Still, if they're in need, all members can PM me good posts in their local board. I'd be happy to check and evaluate them in my free time.

He's very much aware that he's a merit source; he made a comment about it on one of the threads where the pending list of merit source applications is updated, here and on his local board, and the admin also sends each of the newly approved merit sources a DM, which @Mia Chloe, as one of the new merit sources, can attest to, so they won't miss the update that they are a merit source. As long as they might have come online after the approval, they will get the message.

There is already a new merit source for your local thread (not just irfan_pak10) -- he was just made a source in the last few months. The thing is I'm pretty sure he operates a farm of accounts, just like you do. So you have to get at least a couple of your accounts on his good side so he will merit your posts (if he's not too busy meriting his own accounts).

Did it ever occur to you that if you focused on growing just 1 account you might already be a Legendary member by this point?

Yeah you are absolutely correct!
Merits source spending doesn't accumulate, immediately that month passes then source decays or disappear. The next month they starts with new allocation and it comes right back when exactly they spent it on the previous month. So, if his allocation is just 100 so it would remain 100 every month without increasing or decreasing.

Besides, (naive question) why do newbies need merit?

need more peoples to help out newbies with their knowledge and experience.

I find it even more irrelevant if for those reason, you're only trying to awaken your local merit sources instead of identified geniuses. Helping you to gain knowledge and experience isn't a merit source primary task. Even with 0 merit earned, you're entitled to all the information here, except for a few subforums like Ivory Tower, which even those aren't as well-visited.

I agree with your opinion that a user who has received a merit source and is absent for a long time (or shows extremely low activity) should be deprived of this privilege of being a merit source. In the interests of the forum, another user who meets the requirements will be appointed to this position.

I believe that instead of sitting and waiting, it is necessary to inform the administration about such cases. So that they are aware of the changes, because the administration has other tasks, therefore, these moments may be outside their field of vision. Addressing them will serve as a reminder.

Yeah, Smerit operates differently when it’s earned from when it’s loaded on merit sources from Theymos. When it’s loaded, it comes with a 30days decay period where, whatever you spent is replenish on the same day you spent it in the following month. When you haven’t spent nothing, then you haven’t got nothing to be replenish and there is no accumulations to it. You just have the number you were allocated and that’s it, it stays optimum.

Merit source is a huge responsibility for those who take up the role, it’s not paid for and still they are required to carry out this role of staying active, going through several posts and accrediting merit to the deserving ones. New sources were recently created after over 5years of pending applications so, some of the inactive ones in today could be excused for not being so active. I get it that the role requires of them to be active but, fire dies down after years of waiting and besides, a month has little significance to over 4years of waiting in line.

Give it the time it needs and if it’s necessary, there would be a reshuffling of the sources and even more sources could be created. @OP, you are not wrong for your observation and raising your concerns on expectations but then, just understand that there are circumstances that would require some users to be more present elsewhere.
