I am selling my Radeon HD 5970's. 75 BTC each, shipped anywhere in the US. - Original Box
- VisionTek branded
- Warranty: 3 years mfg warranty per the box (more than 2 years left - originally purchased from Provantage - have original invoice)
- 2GB GDDR5 Memory
They have been used solely for Bitcoin mining. They are clean and have no problems whatsoever, no freezeups, no nothing. Also, they have never been aggressively overclocked (I am kind to equipment I care about). I have always run the fans at 100% speed - even when not mandatory - to ensure the lowest GPU temps. Every one of my cards has solved dozens of blocks in solo mining. They are 100% reliable at the speeds I ran them at. I ran them to yield just over 660 MHash/s. (770 MHz where stock is 725 MHz). The fans are in perfect condition, everything is about as good as you can ask for. I have the original boxes. Each card has two DVI outputs and a DisplayPort output. One of my mining rigs was featured in a June issue of Bloomberg BusinessWeek, these are the same cards I am selling. May be missing DisplayPort / CrossFire connectors, not needed for bitcoin mining. You probably won't need these, even for gaming, but please e-mail if you do. To buy a 5970, go to my website, submit a shopping cart with nothing but Priority Mail shipping, ignore the total, and pay exactly 75 BTC to the order address. Fill out your shipping address, and include the following in the notes: ----- BEGIN COUPON ----- Ordering a Radeon 5970 as advertised on forum ----- END COUPON ----- Please contact me if interested in ordering outside the US. I assume interest outside the US is slim because the costs and hassle outweigh the utility of buying a used card. If you'd like to order Casascius Physical Bitcoins, I can ship them in the same order and you won't pay shipping. Why am I selling? I stopped mining around the time my third child was born (July), we needed the room without the heat and the noise, and I'm unlikely to start mining again.

Hmm. Great price, I think I might order one. Personally, though, I think the fans running on auto is better than running at 100% because the fans can only take so much before the bearings wear out.
How many 5970s do you have and how long were they mining for (@ 100% fan)?

I have 8, and they were running for about 5 months. None of the fans make any noise they're not supposed to.

I didn't see your last message until this post prompted me to look for it. It's the silly way the forum works (or perhaps the way I'm using it), if I read something that came later, your earlier message gets marked as "read" and I'm less likely to look at it. I still have that one card left, as well as the slow fan one. I am willing to accept your pm'd offer for the good one. You had asked if I had any buying/selling reputation. I have sold thousands of Casascius Coins with nothing but praise on the board, always requiring payment in BTC up front. Simply search for "casascius coins" in the forums. In addition to having shipped the coins as promised, I am also trusted to not have kept the private keys (regardless, I believe I'd get my ass kicked if I did). For stats on how many I have sold, http://casascius.appspot.com/ and/or http://casascius.uberbills.com (two third party Casascius Coin trackers written independently by two people I have never met)

I am down to two: one perfectly good, and one with a minor caveat.
In lieu of the 75 BTC price which probably doesn't make sense much more, I will accept the BTC equivalent of 320 USD for the last perfectly good card I have.
I have one card beyond that, it is one where I have noticed the fan slows down a lot quicker if I spin it by hand. It works fine now, but maybe it's a sign that fan won't last as long. It still spins freely and makes no unusual noise. I will let it go for 260 USD.
The exchange rate to use for USD to BTC is the exchange rate at the moment you make the payment.
GenTarkin, I'm down to these last two. First person to pay will get them. Order on my website. Please include a bitcoin address where I may refund you in the notes section if you're too late.
You had asked for a discount based on your research on the warranty. These cards are still under warranty as they were bought less than 1 year ago. You had pointed out that per something on the mfg's website, they require the registration card to be sent in within 30 days after purchase to activate the 3yr warranty or else it's 1yr. Whether or not they'd enforce that, or accept the registration card after 30 days, I don't know. These cards have been working flawlessly for months, so the odds of there not being problems are pretty much in your favor. I will provide the original invoice upon request regardless.
I suppose it's fair to post it in the forums so everyone is aware. But whether I'd discount the price further for not being able to tell that on the box... I'm likely to do that only if I can't sell these at the price I'm asking. I am unlikely to have that problem it seems, but if I fail to sell them, then I will definitely consider it.

He said PM sent. You might have sent the payment first. I sent a PM yesterday saying I'd buy the 5970 for $260 and never got a response, so clearly he isn't going on whoever said they'd buy it first...

The payment trumps the PM... the one for $260 is going to an address with the partial numbers "565" and "123" within the address.
The one for $320 is still available.

K, that's it, all my 5970's are gone!
GenTarkin and AmpEater I think they went to you guys.
The mining has been fun, may these cards bring great returns.
I also have some 5870's I will probably sell, but I need to round them up, take them out of machines, see what I have in terms of accessories and boxes, and probably can't ship them till later in the week. I have four. Will post again when I'm ready to start selling those.
