I decided to look into this topic because of the unfounded information that crypto currency investors get daily which most times lead them especially the newbies into making grave mistakes that sometimes cripple their investments. I believe this will be helpful. Your views and opinions will also be welcomed. Influencers are people who have built a large audiences by gathering a lot of followers that receive whatever information they release at all time. These set of people capitalise on the power of social media to reach their audiences at all time. These set of people have a lot of influence on the national and international affairs and can cause chaos, panic or global acceptance of any Idea they choose to sell over the internet.Last year saw the reign of Airdrops farming and high cryptocurrency awareness in Nigeria. This was possible due to the role played by the influencers who have many thousands to millions of followers that receive every Airdrops or crypto currency they sell to them. In bitcoin investment, influencers have a way of starting market sentiments and speculations and can also cause panic among investors just with a single post. Influencers carry a lot of weight with their audiences and can have a huge impact on cryptocurrency trading activity. Information or analysis presented in just the right way can cause an investor or trader to make a decision they might not otherwise have made, be it a good or bad decision." Influencers are the major reason why Many people are into crypto currency and bitcoin investment today. It is time we start acknowledging their role in information dissemination even though they also circulate fake news sometimes. Traders and investors still bank on their updates to draw conclusions on their daily trading and investments in bitcoin and altcoins. Crypto influencers can drive markets and teach you about digital currencies They range from developers and business owners to analysts, crypto fans, and journalists. They communicate with anyone interested in cryptocurrency through various channels, such as social media or their own websites. Many influencers have educated themselves enough on blockchain and crypto to speak comprehensibly about it and what they believe it means for the world. Some focus on market forces and economic trends and how they affect Bitcoin, while others work to communicate their theories about trading and investing in Bitcoin. Influencers carry a lot of weight with their audiences and can have a huge impact on cryptocurrency trading activity. Information or analysis presented in just the right way can cause an investor or trader to make a decision they might not otherwise have made, be it a good or bad decision. Criteria for Selecting Influencers Before choosing a cryptocurrency influencer to follow, it's important to investigate their background, education, blockchain and cryptocurrency experience, political stance, and outlook on the future. Then, look for recurring themes to help you decide whether they have an agenda—some channels are very much spinning available information and conspiracy theories, while others attempt to educate audiences about the crypto markets and the factors that affect them. Some factors to look for are: Expertise: Where did they get their knowledge and experience? There is nothing wrong with self-education, but there needs to be something more demonstrable than a claim of expertise because "I became interested in 2015," and suddenly, they have a YouTube channel. Credibility: Do they use facts and verifiable figures, or is their channel full of speculative talk, hype for specific coins, fear-mongering, and anti-establishment attitudes? Who do they speak with about crypto? Are their guests or perspectives credible? Are they knowledgeable and experienced in the crypto space? Content Quality: Learn what they like to present—this is likely a recurring theme and should be presented with facts and figures, not just talk and emotional responses. Follower engagement: This is difficult to gauge because not all influencers will engage with their followers. For example, Wendy O specifically states on her channels that she will not direct message (DM) her listeners, apparently due to impersonators causing mischief. Otherwise, there might or might not be engagement outside their broadcasts, but most of the time, they put in the effort to speak to their viewers. Here are 10 influencers worth following on social media to gain a wealth of information about what is happening in the crypto space. 1. Vitalik.eth 5.1 million X followers ( https://x.com/VitalikButerin?t=2AuRG_p9bV0UPVCdx_kWGQ&s=09 ) 2. Michael Saylor 4.5 million X followers ( https://x.com/saylor?t=uwJQTyO59rS2iHYAQN1NnQ&s=09 ) 3. Anthony Pompliano 1.7 million X followers ( https://x.com/APompliano?t=7pueypNukrHUE3zJJBndqA&s=09 ) 4. Andreas M. Antonopoulos 782k X followers ( https://x.com/aantonop?t=HObGh19uyiPdzRm-ay6_Tw&s=09 ) 5. Crypto Wendy O 442k X followers ( https://x.com/CryptoWendyO?t=QyDA7zqrwmtWr8zFaNJ4gA&s=09 ) 6. Erik Voorhees 742k X followers ( https://x.com/ErikVoorhees?t=4ggRJ2StJsz-4tSDQ8E1eQ&s=09 ) I will advise everyone especially newbies to follow these influencers as they consistently release daily crypto updates that may be of help to your decision making. Also learn to make your personal verification and judgement coupled with your experience before taking any action.

Following them to stay current seems okay but using their advice in your decision making could be misleading. Not all the time, of course but newbies will likely have little to zero knowledge of the things dropped by these influencers and might later fall for a wrong update that could wreck them. Always do your own research (DYOR) before taking decisions. At the same time, only use a tiny percentage of your portfolio in altcoins (crypto at large) while you make Bitcoin your main plan.

It's wise to always consider that in this crypto space, the best advice is the one you give to yourself because most of these influencers are most likely to be scammers. If I may say based on their popularity, they might even aggressively introduce and as well promote a brand new low cap coin with an unrealistic promise That is where most newbies fall for this trap because they are looking for quick gains, and once that happens, they will end up in a pump and dump. Most of the influencers may not be scammers yes, but it's advisable to always do your own research and trust your own judgment.

Make we no just follow them because we think say they have better understanding of the market then us, some of them the way they see the market can be wrong and if you follow them without verifying the things they post or say, then you're going to make the same mistake that they're making. Make we dey know say Influencers will do anything to put the project that they're supporting on the map. Take all the advice they give and crosscheck with what you know to be true about the industry and when you're still confused then you can ask questions on the forum and I believe you'll get genuine advice. Alot of these influencers, money dey worry them and they begin to go against what they once stand for. Influencers should expose you to new projects and not make you invest in them just because they say so.

Most of this influencers no dey true to their words in the long time, especially if wetin them talk before no go dey profitable for them any longer, them go just switch tongue and persuade their followers into believing in the new thing they’ll benefit from. Everybody dey work to see where money go comot from, so if them see better offer to promote a project, even without knowing or even knowing the aftermath of it to be scam, them go still shill am for people to invest into which if no research, you go just lose money. I compare this matter to the likes of them coins wey dey launch in the name of Davido wey rugged people, na influencer wey him be na him make people run to go invest in am without knowing anything about cryptocurrency. I dey sure say if another crypto influencer get the gig to help promote the coin for big pay, e go do am even after knowing what the aftermath will be and many more people including his followers wey no dey research go fall victim of the scam. Investing in new projects dey make sense when you don research about am and know their future roadmap.

Doing your own research is the best that any investor can do at all time because no matter what anybody tells you about cryptocurrency, you can never be too sure. Trusting them completely will be a very wrong decision because if we can trust them 100% that means everyone will be rich and would never run a loss. It's just like sports betting, sometimes people will claim to have a fixed game, they will convince you to buy the game for a given amount of money. Because they have assured you that the game is fixed already and must play out the way they predicted, if you go all in with your money wanting to make it big, most people end up loosing their life saving because of these fixed matches. This is why you are supposed to have your own judgement at all time.
Yes, sometimes some developers capitalise on the activities and audience of these influencers to get the market attention by hyping its legitness and they will get initial pump. Sometimes when funds are pulled into the coins, it will be suddenly increase its Volatility and liquidate to zero or nothing. These were they Idea behind the reign of Airdrops, they made good use of these influencers and also paid them through their community engagement and eligibility criteria. Most of the airdrops that resulted to nothing were given the highest promotions, things like the Blum, seed, PAWS, Tapswap and many others. But this does not rule out their benefits to the entire crypto community. Most of us won't hear about bitcoin or other good coins without these influencers, and that's why it is good to follow them but not wholesomely. Before you follow anyone, you also research about the person's activities and achievements in the crypto market and that's why I personally prefer Michael saylors updates because most of them are practical and he buys bitcoin continuously to also prove his stand. I will advise everyone especially newbies to follow these influencers as they consistently release daily crypto updates that may be of help to your decision making. Also learn to make your personal verification and judgement coupled with your experience before taking any action.

Influencers should expose you to new projects and not make you invest in them just because they say so. Yes you are very correct. No be everything they talk you follow at all time. Sometimes dey ask your self whether your mind fit carry that kind thing and if the market no turn positive as they predict, you fit chest the loss?? For every business wey person dey do, e suppose understand say wetin work for Ayo fit no work for Hassan and if you go follow wetin you hear complete like that, na OYO e go be for you. But e good make we dey follow them because na when you hear something before you go fit go make research make you know whether e legit or e no legit.

I hope say people don use am learn say you no fit dey follow wetin others dey talk online as financial advice. I no dey consider all this people as “influencers” sha because when I hear influencers na those YouTube “crypto experts” dey enter my mind.

Alot of these influencers, money dey worry them and they begin to go against what they once stand for. Influencers should expose you to new projects and not make you invest in them just because they say so.
The problem we usually use to have is that we don’t usually like to do things our own way we usually just like to been influenced into it, this influencers most of them are paid to shill a project they don’t even know anything about and they don’t care to know because all they are after is to protect their bag at the end. Take for example Micheal Saylor on the OP’s list wasn’t he all against bitcoin in the past and calling it a pump and dump project, today what is his stand isn’t he now a bitcoin Maxi that sees bitcoin as best thing ever. Why was he against bitcoin in the past was simply because of his company MSTR holding other stocks then instead of bitcoin but now when he has actually has more bitcoin he calls out those stocks now. So imagine if at the very beginning when he was Fudding bitcoin and his audience didn’t buy now wouldn’t they be biting off their hands because it might be too expensive for them than before but he the influencer has the money to actually buy even now. Same goes to buying any random coin because a promotes it, even if the influencer buys that coin, he is most definitely rich to handle the risk that comes after it doesn’t works but not his audience. The only influencer I see on the list is Antonopoulos who authors the mastering bitcoin book and only teaches bitcoin security and general language only

This crypto influencers are doing well by updating people on what is happening on the crypto space however this crypto influencers are the people that usually promote this shitcoins that I usually created to scam people, when this creators of this shitcoins finish creating the coin they now tell this crypto influencers to post an influence the coin so people can invest in it and they pay them huge amount of money to promote this shitcoins that are created to scam people, so I will advise if you are following this influencers on X or any social Media platform don't follow them in what they do follow them only to get update about the happenings in the crypto space if you follow them in what they do or you follow their advice you may be in a big problem, I see some of them in Facebook and they advice people concerning trading and they also advertise their self that they teach people how to trade, I will advise you don't pay because they won't teach you any important thing about trading.

You're very correct. These influencers are double aged swords and mostly focus on what they will game. But still, that does not underscore their importance in the crypto world as they first introduce most of these novel coins of which early birds also gain from. They have their own positive influence too. Bitcoin awareness is mostly because of these influencers and at least, they have affected the market stability to a good extent. If only we can have good judgement to whatever idea they push, we would always make good use of the opportunities at all time. Michael saylor has many ways of influencing bitcoin and he's widely known for continuously buying bitcoin which has a very positive result on his followers and the entire crypto community.

Michael saylor has many ways of influencing bitcoin and he's widely known for continuously buying bitcoin which has a very positive result on his followers and the entire crypto community.
Sure, and I like his own way of influencing people. Anyone who is following Michael Saylor on X would definitely want to go into bitcoin investment. I can't imagine how many people that Saylor converted, and it has gotten to the extent that most people have started seeing him as the father of bitcoin. And yeah, considering the amount of bitcoin he acquired yet he sees it as if he's just getting started with bitcoin investment. And I'm sure he will continue buying until there is no more bitcoin in the market Those who are relying on their information should also try to make attempt to buy no matter how small thier discretionary is, because it will be so unwise if they fail to make attempt after getting all this information.

You're right, Michael saylor has been of high influence to the crypto community especially in Bitcoin investment. I have seen several news where he bought several millions worth of bitcoin.and still counting. If everyone of his followers decide to buy Bitcoin at the rate at which he buys Bitcoin, in the near future, Bitcoin might become a very scarce commodity and if this happens, the price will keep going up. Influencers can kill a coin by collective negative tags which will make other lower investors to avoid the particular coin. Anyways, one needs to be careful while following their advice to avoid falling into something you will regret.

You're very correct. Some investors actually make their claims out of emotions or others sentiments which goes on to push their entire community into making a huge mistakes. Sometimes too, their communities assume their prediction is faulty and refuse to invest only to see market boom the next moment. I think that what really matters now is personal instincts and ability to bear shocks by not investing what you can not afford to loose ( for bitcoin traders). Over all, an investor needs a drive to stay focused and that drive is what influencers provide. They excite your mind and make you think and practice decision making. When you try a strategy and it fails, you're at liberty to quit the strategy or try again. Influencers focus more on their personal reasons than the community.

I will advise everyone especially newbies to follow these influencers as they consistently release daily crypto updates that may be of help to your decision making. Also learn to make your personal verification and judgement coupled with your experience before taking any action.
Alot of these influencers, money dey worry them and they begin to go against what they once stand for. Influencers should expose you to new projects and not make you invest in them just because they say so. When you say money dey worry some of them, Na true talk.. some of them collect money from the project owners just for advertisement. Some don't even care the reliability of what they advertise, so long as they make money form it, they are okay. It's just like a celebrity advertising a Ponzi scheme or a product to the public. Some may be true, while some are pure lies. But because we know them as public figures, we tend to do what they have advertised or adviced without properly scrutinising the information dishes to ascertain it's reality. I agree with you that we should get exposed but think otherwise before embarking. Yea, you are every correct here. We can't underscore there importance or relevancy in the crypto community at large as such informations helps create awareness and also educate people the more about crypto. But you nailed it already. It is important we think twice, that it came from them doesn't make it 100% legit and credible. They are humans remember. Even after there analysis, there can still be errors. Anyone 100% perfect in this planet of ours? Certainly NO! So to avoid later regrets and pointing accusing fingers that a particular influencer deceived you or talked you into investing into something that didn't pay at the end, it is very important you make research about the information that have given, crosscheck thoroughly before getting involved.

Influencers are also hustlers and even when it comes to Bitcoin, personal interest can also affect their decision making. So whatever decision anyone will take in Bitcoin should be a calculated personal move and not based on what they project. Influencers are also important when it comes to helping to announce market falls and gains which you can also capitalize to make your own decisions.

You're very correct. If anyone is 100% correct about predicting the crypto market standings, he would own a castle. Influencers are like torch lights, their own is to show you the way, whether it is right or wrong does not really concern them. They make assertions based on what they think or what they know of which any dedicated crypto lord could also predict nearly what they could do. But the number of followers they gather under them makes their voice so loud that you hardly doubt their words. Now if you can not use your sense of judgement, you may end up regretting at last. In all, we still need their service because it is only when you know of the existence of a particular coin that you can make judgement about it's legitness. [Edited out]

If Satoshi eventually releases the secret behind the bitcoin volatility, everyone would huge profits from bitcoin on a short term basis and after this profit, they may tend to give up and wait for either next Dip which they already know when it would happen. Now if everyone buys at the same Dip duee to general knowledge about the exact dip time, when the price rises, everyone would love to sell which would still make the price to drop back and if it continues, interests would be lost from the investors. Bitcoin volatility and unpredictability is the strength of bitcoin which no one could rightly understand. If anyone investor speaks about market conditions, you have to still invest only what you can afford to loose if you intend to invest on short-term basis.

OP, the list you have mentioned are no doubt reputable names in the crypto industry and many events have emanated as a result of their inputs and criticism but I will advise that it is good to follow them and get insight and updates with respect to the crypto space but it will be wise that one does not depend on their calls for decision making because they too are not short of being manipulative and being manipulated by the powers that be to hype the market for their own selfish interest. Remember they are humans and can act rashly for their own interest and not mind about the community they already have just like others who would mention projects on their timely and you will see their community responding to them without minding the outcome of the call. After which they regret their actions of listening to their so called mentors and influencers call. Not every decision you should take from them, do not forget that they are also out their to also make their money so they can say anything that would triger the market in their favour and not minding their community and the out come of their actions.

This last part dey very necessary because e serve as a disclaimer before someone will come and accuse you later say na you tell them to follow these influencers. No doubt, these influencers you highlight above are high reputable profile worthy of following not just because they are well known but they are also Bitcoin enthusiasts with lots of knowledge and experience in the crypto space. These influencers are not always accurate, they post what they believe based on their own analysis which can go against them sometimes. For this reason, people should do extra research before any action is taken and you can disagree with what they post if you trust your own analysis more than their own. Unfortunately, the aclaim crypto influencers we have in Nigeria prioritised self benefit more than educating their community. They shill useless airdrops and take advantage of their community farming referrals to cash out at the detriment of the community. They dish out meaningless posts every now and then just to farm engagement instead of posting educative contents.

I don't consider following crypto influencers necessary because crypto influencers only care about themselves and how they will generate money with their social media accounts, and sometimes they can even deceive their audience by shilling a fake project to them so that they could earn money, and when their audience invests in the project and they lose their money, they will come up with a cock and bull story that they didn't know the project was a fake project. Any newbie that's interested in learning about cryptocurrency and bitcoin should look for a community like Bitcointalk community to learn about cryptocurrency and bitcoin so that the newbie will not be misled to invest in a scam. Newbies should also prioritise dyor; it is the best way they can learn fast and know the right projects they can put in their money.
