Some people will always argue that Bitcoin is been used only as an asset. But day by day there has been an adoption of Bitcoin as a currency.

I don't understand the reason why anyone will argue or claim Bitcoin can only be used as an asset if they clearly understand its valuable concept and the vision Satoshi had when he created it to be useful in many ways, based on the innovations it presents in every financial and investment setting.
Having said that, I expect the Arab Emirates to have added Bitcoin to its payment system before, based on the Arab stance towards BTC. It is good to see everything working now in crypto's favor.

As a Bitcoin enthusiast, reading this made me feel a kinda fulfilled and happy and that's because for a long time, the narrative has been that Bitcoin is only good for holding but moves like this from an international airlines show that people are demanding real use cases.

Personally, I believe this is just the beginning. I expect many more global companies will eventually adopt Bitcoin as a payment option because it creates an extra layer of flexibility and convenience for customers. Global adoption is truly happening step by step.

To be honest, cryptocurrency adoption is just one step away from being adopted everywhere, what it needs is just the proper payment gateway by the big player and educate them about it.

I've used coinbase's crypto payment gateway and it's been seamless. Unfortunately some company out there don't have idea about it but eventually it will catch up and they will know.

I'm waiting for that day when crypto payment is as easy or even easier than paypal payment or even credit cards.

Ok, let me be the the small amount of rain in this parade. For example Emirates Airlines isn't accepting crypto, or adopting bitcoin. They are accepting crypto.com's pay service, which is technically similar to apple pay or google pay.

So technically they will receive fiat money of their choice for payments you might make in crypto.

So i am hesitant to call this as advancement in crypto adoption, especially when you already could use crypto.com card as visa cards in apple pay or google wallet for ages now.

You’re right that Emirates Airlines isn’t really “adopting Bitcoin” — payments get converted to fiat instantly, so on the backend it’s no different from Visa or Apple Pay.
But I wouldn’t dismiss it either. There’s a difference between quietly using a crypto card and Emirates openly showing BTC/ETH/USDT as a payment option. For many people, that visibility alone makes crypto feel more legit.
So while it’s not real adoption on the tech side, it’s a step toward normalization. Sometimes perception matters as much as the backend....
