It doesn't work alike for everyone, I don't get distracted by the slot machine sound and I don't know the possibility of it making someone become irresponsible gambler. Though the noise could cause a big distraction for some people but not to everyone.

The sounds can be annoying personally I don’t like the noise, if a gambler should find this noise unattractive yet they’re mentally drain to the activity what should be the cause? I understand op point here which includes how sound can affect gamblers mentally but majority of the problem comes from our desire not sound.
I guess if anyone should start gambling irresponsible as a result of casino sound they need help, as op mentioned the first example kids within an age range can be tempted but, at that stage they get entice by little things even without meaning, a grown adult should be knowledgeable about how this things work and if seeing casino sound as a treat they should find a way to mute this sound definitely they’re other alternative that can help.

I think that this is the perfect example of what conditioning is. It’s not about the sounds. It’s the item or games being represented by the sounds that’s why people are attracted on the sounds.

No matter how catchy the sound is if the product it represents is shit then no one will be attracted. Sounds is a good tool to catch someone attention but the game itself is the one that makes it fully effective to the target customer.

I do not think that it is just about what those beeps represent but those sound effects are actually used to hypnotise your brain. these slot jingles are just used to arouse you and make the wins feel even more crunchier and are even used to make you feel that you are consistently winning. Upbeat tunes and chimes are used by casinos just to make it feel more exciting and increase your betting speed and make you zone out.

Even the rats who were put in similar situations.. lol, such as casino like sounds and lights, started to take more risks even when there was no increment given in rewards. So yeah, the sound effects are not just to make the game look cute but they are carefully designed to trick your brain.

I was actually trying to understand Op, until I stumbled on this your post. So, op was trying to say that game developers manipulates players through sound. This means that game developers purposely develop addictive games. But the line between a good game and addictive one is very blurry, especially when measured with sound.

If gamblers are already addicted then I don't think the sound has anything to do with their addiction except you are trying to say that the sounds of every casino game is hypnotic but I don't think that's the case...sounds are just there to make the game more interesting just like the graphics that are there as well...If they had no sounds perhaps it wouldn't be interesting to a lot of people...sounds are just effects nothing more

Gambling is not the Dark angel but is how the gambler acts. Give a kid an iPad and let them watch their favorite cartoons the let that sound affect them that they don't want to do anything else than watch it and it can affect their health, social behavior and interactions.

Every thing you have said here is simply the truth, sounds play a very big role in our minds, much more than we ourselves can imagine, I remember that in my house, when my children wants to watch cartoon and I am busy and doesn't want to be disturbed by the sound of the cartoon, I will turn off the volume of the cartoon and let the children watch the picture only, the little ones will start crying and calling on me to turn up the sound, which is to show that without the sound, the cartoon is not enjoyable to them.

Generally, with or with no sound, gamblers should learn self control.  Being so drawn to gambling this way will lead to mismanagement of time and money. It is very risky if you are not lucky enough to be on the winning side of gambling.

Sometimes the noise can be what contributes to the fun of the game and sometimes too the sound can become annoying especially that moment when your losses are getting much and unbearable. Even if my device is having low volume, I slightly increase the volume so that I can hear the sound of the games. That does not make me an addict or undisciplined but it is what I love. Great for you, but from what you tagged I wrote that you need to be a disciplined gambler and see those sounds as things that makes the game fun and that is what you are doing. But for those that are getting addicted to the sound and gambling irresponsible they can try blocking out the sound. You may not have this problem but people are really facing it.

What's gambling without sound? If you are not betting on sport games that you might want to have a quiet environment, I don't think sound is something that can lead to any addiction. Sounds are ways of making things fun and simple as possible. You don't expect people to be playing slot and the machine be quiet, everywhere will look like a cemetery. How do you think I'm going to sound if everywhere is quiet and one person shouted when they hit the right combination? You will definitely be looking at him like insane person.

If you are the type of person that is affected by sound, you can use headset or play at home for your own convenience but trying to pin that on everyone doesn't sound too convincing about any addiction. Well, I never knew sounds could lead to becoming irresponsible, but we learn everyday. One thing is for sure, when an individual gets addicted to something, he literally would be drawn by even the smallest form of attraction from such thing. In this case gambling. Many times we see some addicted gamblers complain about not being able to control their self after a long while trying.

it's might not necessarily be their fault, possibly they are exposed to a lot of materials that can bring back the memories of gambling to them. It's just like watching your favorite game as well, without sound there will not be enough stimulus for you to enjoy it. I discontinue from gambling when sounds are not on, i don't know what they do to me but that don't make me an addict, it is enjoyable with the sound than without. Just the same way we can't watch a football game for the whole time with no sound plus commentary and expect to be satisfied, those sound don't make an addict although elevates our excitement.
