You can search for meaning of troll.

 I completely agree with you. Usually a troll uses crude lies in his messages in the hope that they will start to prove that he is lying, and then in his usual situation he will start to pile one lie on another, and attempts to prove that he is wrong are useless, because he initially knows about his lie and it is important for him to replicate it as much as possible for propaganda purposes, so that the lie is always on everyone's lips. Goebbels claimed that a lie repeated many times becomes the truth.

Any post that does not comply with the normal posting etiquettes of this forum in particular is regarded as a troll, an advance trolling could lead to spamming, such post(s) are often deleted by the moderators and some on off topic.

I hope its the issue of politics and society board and arguments that prompted you to creating this question, because i can see a lot of arguments there

You are not exactly correct, a troll tries to get people offended or bored with irrelevant diversion. If the comment is not related to the topic, it is outright spamming but for such comment to qualify as trolling, it has to upset someone. I think the right explanation have already been given by @DeathAngel, just read through his comment again for better understanding.

I suggest you to read posts of jvanname and after that you'll understand the definition of a troll in the best way possible. I've gone through some posts of the user that I mentioned in the past and there's so much trolling in his posts. There're of course more examples but this one is enough to help you understand what a troll is and how they so trolling on this forum.

It's quaint to worry about trolls.   At least trolls generate activity and are potentially funny.   Trolls are tired.  All open public communities are being destroyed now in varying degrees by AI slop posts, most of which are the polar opposite of troll posts:  excessively boring and agreeable.

You have just given the perfect example of who a troll is. I use to entertain his posts earlier thinking that he is someone that actually knows what he’s saying and mean what he’s saying, it was later I found out that he’s just a troll and the best way for me then is to ignore his posts and let him be. He is in the ignore list of many users in the forum who have known him for trolling and he never stops as long as you keep replying to his posts. It’s been a while I saw his posts but maybe because I’m not that active on that board again. Although I have not ignored him, I just skip his posts and threads when I come across them. OP have just gotten the best example of a troll and needs to search no more by going through the post of this user.

Although I don't know how they troll here, it seems that those who troll deliberately start trolling on a random topic. I think the only purpose of doing this is to ruin the forum's reputation and nothing more. If the respected big users see this, they will identify the troll, and the moderators will delete his trolling posts.

Lol, couldn't agree more. I would rather read through a thread where a troll is trolling someone than a thread where almost 90% of the posts are written using an AI model. A troll is at least a human, with a brain and a proper sense of what should be said and how it should be said; it's not an automated system that uses keywords and forms responses based on them, and provides totally generic responses with no lively sense or any sort of human humor whatsoever.

ChatGPT can barely be funny; it will try, if you ask it specifically to provide you with something funny or some lines or dialogues that are funny, but even then, when you read through the responses, you will still sense a sort of an AIness (as in "uselessness") among those responses.

So, I agree that trolls aren't a concern, until they go berserk and totally out of control.

Yeah, even if trolls is annoying, you can discuss something with them. While AI genersted posts is cancer of forum.
Though, I would say that now we have very few trolls. In my early years here, Meta and Reputation was full of trolls hiding behind their alts.

Anyways I believe  you have soemone trolling you that would have prompted such a question which might be like one getting clarity as to what the meaning of someaction is but however, OgNasty has given a brief and clear explanations about a troll. It is usually not a good idea to feed the trolls. Especially when you consider that mental illness is real and some people get obsessed with things they create in their own minds. Still, sometimes you are left with no other choice but to hold people responsible for their malicious actions, which is indeed teaching them a lesson.

It's easy for you to recognize trolling, the nest reputation part of the trolling.
But you need to understand "troll" usually we mention slang, even though it's a slang but someone who does a lay and silly troll.

In short, if you see someone posting or making a topic and deliberately uploading comments that are always indentic with provocative or offending other members or generally can interfere in online forums and what they aim to create emotional reactions, provoke conflict towards others, that's the trolling.

In general, trolling behavior is diverse and aggressive such as toxic behavior, provocative, insulting, inciting and so on, that is the general nature of trolling.

Personally it seems op wants to pass a message and may not necessarily want to call out a person as being the troll so they just settle for the compound meaning of it. Again, it doesn't matter the length of time one has stayed on this space. If they don't understand the use of a particular word, they ask questions about it but like I said earlier, its as if the Op knows the meaning but is looking for a suitable context to fit that word in. Just my thoughts anyways.
