While we go for electric powered vehicles we should swept under the carpet the limitations that follows with the innovation aside that it's a technology that is environmental friendly to the ecosystem which gas and crude oil engines has damaged.

These electric powered cars are by the capacity of their battery bound to limited range that they can cover, and more  to it all is that there are countries these vehicles can't be found useful due to their infrastructural impediments in facilitating uninterrupted electricity for the recharging of these vehicles at designated stations. These are natural resources that will one day run out... its inevitable! But fortunately, we are already seeing a lot of innovation and expansion in solar, wind, advanced nuclear and even green hydrogen energy, which are increasingly becoming a benchmark in various sectors of the economy as the main global energy sources.

Take electric cars, for example... in a few years, they will dominate combustion engines.

Parallel to this, just as the world searches for new "fuels" to overwhelm the physical economy, we also see Bitcoin as a substitute for gold as a store of value and economic transfer. Is there a greater revolution than this? Why wouldn't the same apply to oil and gas?

Look at the world's total energy production sources and you'll realize wind and solar will never be able to fulfill our needs.

They need a ton of land and the technologies can only improve so much. Wind especially is way way less efficient on land coverage than any other energy production method.

In the future we'll need more land for agriculture, so our energy production methods better take that into account also. We'll keep using coal and gas and oil for producing energy even if we increase "green" energy production the fuels are still needed for emergencies and times when there's no wind/sun or when there's emergent demand.

China is now actually increasing its coal mining operations. And the oil reserves we have can last us for centuries even with current production.

I doubt that oil and gas can be totally replaced because even coal (which is seen as obsolete) is still being used in some countries. But with the advancement of technology in the power sector, their dominance can gradually reduce over the years. In countries that experience high sunshine, solar power will become more popular. Areas with water bodies around them will embrace hydropower for energy supplies. Highly technologically advanced nations that have access to rare mineral resources that are used to produce batteries and energy storage technologies will diversify into it. Countries that have a good relationship with world powers will develop nuclear energy.

In my view, lithium, nickel, cobalt, manganese, and graphite will become highly sought-after raw materials in the near future. China has been dominant in the exploration of these materials in Africa and South America. The invasion of Ukraine by Russia can also be linked to the drive to take over lands rich in these resources. The US recently signed a deal with Ukraine to give it access to these rare resources.

I think most likely we will not have a replacement as crude oil and gas are not just what we use to produce fuel for various vehicles, but they go into many things. Mainly plastic, but also asphalt, solvents... And more.

So finding a replacement is very difficult as you would need to find replacements for many things. And judging by that, I do not think that gas and crude oil can be considered anytime soon a thing of the past.

Although personally, I wish it was. We are dirtying the air, ground and ocean beyond imagination with pollution that will not go away because it is not part of the cycle of nature.

The only power source we have right now is oil and gas. How would it be past unless there is another power source? When all the gas and oil is gone from the world, then it will be past. But do you think it will be ended once a day? I don't think so, because nature is always creating oils and gas naturally. And it should continue over the years.

However, as I said, if we found some other power sources besides oil and gas, then it would be past. Nuclear power isn't enough for the whole world, and also it has to collect from nature too. We are probably not being so far to that era where crude oil will not be a major resource for mechanism of mechanical and industrials products.

Crude oil have grades and with the advanced productions these days, lot of the crude oils has become incapable to be resourceful and due to their insufficient grades to mechanize the productions in the more advanced effectiveness while higher grade of crude oils may be considered for now.

It is a gradual process and in matter of time, most industrial and mechanical productions companies will scrapped that essence of crude oil. It is already happening that is why we could see even countries with the mineral resources like the crude oil who had solely been relying it economy revenues there is now considering Techs to support the economy due to poor demands of their crude oils for export and foreign demands.

there is already a shift from dependent on gases or crude oil to reliance on electrically powered machines which shows that the world is already prepared for whatever will come up if eventually crude oil goes exxtent. sollar is now used as the main source of power geenration in most homes and extablishment and if with time it gets subsidized in terms of the cost of setting up one in households, most houses and extablishment will cease to relly on the conventional electrical distribution systems that relies on fuel and crude for her power generation.

In my opinion, oil won't completely disappear in the next few decades, but its role will shrink significantly. Its function will shift from a basic energy source for all to a strategic industrial commodity such as petrochemicals, aviation, shipping, and the military. For now I cannot envisage anything that will replace gas and crude oil, first thing is to understand that crude oil and its byproducts are too effective for human usage, your automobile and machines can barely move a step without usage of crude oil byproducts, so I haven't seen anything that will be so effective on the international market that will surpass crude oil. However The major reason why most countries are going for electric cars is majorly because they don't want to emit carbon, however electric cars still need engine oil and hydraulic oil which are still byproducts of crude.

In my opinion, water could be a substitute for crude oil or gas. In our country, there's an ordinary citizen who invented or discovered that water can be used as a replacement for gasoline in vehicles. This was proven when a documentary program from a local broadcasting company interviewed him.

So, it's not far-fetched that this could really replace gas or crude oil. The person who invented it in our country has just stayed quiet, likely because he was paid off by the big gas or crude oil companies in exchange for his silence, as it would destroy the crude/gas industry business.
