I don’t really understand why PBC still insists on putting every fight on PPV. The UFC, WWE, and Riyadh Season have already ditched this archaic business model. Fundora isn’t some major star and Thurman fights once every 2–3 years.

It's obvious that they don't want to be overshadowed by the powerful broker from Saudi. So they insist on the old and traditional model. Maybe they think that if they stick to this model, they can still salvage a part of boxing. But the Saudi's are taking over the boxer world right now, and not even PBC can do about it.

Fundora avoided his mandatories against Xander Zayas and Vergil Ortiz, which tells you that promoters think of Thurman as a softer touch. I also do not have high expectations from the semi-retired Thurman.

Still the old and traditional way, milk as much money by becoming the champion and when the right time comes, face either of the two for bigger money. Thurman is old already, that comeback fight was obvious a cherry pick fight for him to look good.

Ok the odds are out, and what we are expecting, Thurman is 4:1 underdog. Thurman proves that he can still pull the trigger in his last fight. But his previous is not in the caliber of Fundora. Actually, Thurman hasn't face a boxer as tall as Fundora before.

So there will be a lot of challenges for him as compare to Fundora who have face the likes of Mendoza and lost or beat the best version of Tim Tszyu. So it's more the burden on Thurman on how or what plans he has fighting a taller fighter and with power as well.

This could be the last fight for Thurman if he loses, so i might as well put some respect on his odds. 4:1 is pretty attractive, especially since the only guy who beat him was Pacman, and even that fight was close. i still think Thurman has the ring IQ, maybe not as fast as before, but i believe we’ll still see the same version of him, so i’d gamble on those odds.

my take, this one’s going the distance.
If Thurman wins, probably unanimous decision. if he loses, i can see it being a split.

I just realized that Sebastian Fundora's height is 6'5" and his reach is 203 cm. I know thurman is at the advantage when it comes to experience but after knowing Fundora's height and reach, it makes me wonder how Thurman will fare against his opponent. also, I'd love to see how Fundora will take advantage of his height and reach, he could dominate this fight if he properly play around his advantages against Thurman.

That’s his edge, his height and reach. But if Thurman still has his quickness, that could be the factor that gives him the win.

Tim Tszyu lost twice to Fundora because he couldn’t adjust, even though he was already getting beaten badly by the jab. And honestly, while Tim Tszyu was once a champion, I never believed he was on the same caliber as Thurman. So even if Thurman comes in as a heavy underdog, I think this fight could actually humble Fundora, he’s never faced a real championship-level fighter before, someone with superstar status like Thurman during his prime.

Unfortunately the fight is postponed because Fundora suffered a hand injury during his training there is no announcemenrt of the date where the fight will resume.

I will lock this thread within 24 hours after members dropping opinions from those who showed interest in this fight.

PBC confirmed the initial report from Mike Coppinger of "The Ring" that Fundora (23-1-1, 15 KOs), the 6-foot-5 ½ "Towering Inferno," suffered a hand contusion in sparring that forced him to withdraw. The PPV card, originally set for the MGM Grand Garden Arena, will be postponed to a later date, PBC said.
