I know that satochipzz profile link has recently had some positive trade transactions and is recently supposedly giving a peeled Lealana away in a raffle, however I need to post this and raise a flag. I will be posting it here in collectibles and in Meta. A few days ago satochipzz contacted me to see if I knew anyone in california wanting to buy a 1 btc cas coin. I put them in contact with a potential buyer. The potential buyer was told under no circumstances to pay any funds up front prior to seeing/receiving the coin. To meet in a secure and public location. However, satochipzz convinced buyer that they (satochipzz) would sell them 2 coins with 1 btc each and then also convinced the buyer to send them approx .26 btc upon receiving the funds satochipzz deleted all conversations (per the buyer) between them and the buyer. I have already exported/saved my conversation with satochipzz but they have yet to delete the conversation between them and I. satochipzz did not show up at the arranged time/location and has not responded to myself or the potential buyer. To be 100% clear - the buyer was told not to pay anything directly or in advance prior to seeing/verifying/receiving the coins. The buyer deviated from the arrangement. Because of this - I would suggest that no one have any further dealings with satochipzz flag link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;flag=3429

these are the 2 coins that satochipzz claimed to have and to be selling https://casascius.uberbills.com/?page=owners&name=ataranlen here is sato confirming these are the 2 coins he "is selling" I had gotten the first bits last night and just so happened to reach out to user ataranlen who replied to me this morning and who still has the coins (they have one and their ex-partner has the other coin) and neither claim to be selling the coins at this time. I believe satochipzz found ataranlens old thread on selling the coins (blazed made the highest offer but ataralen did not sell them to blazed) thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1775966.0 and attempted to use that info to commit this scam, as both coins that satochipzz claimed to have are these 2 coins.

I can confirm, I am not currently selling these coins, one of which is still in my physical possession, and I edited my old thread to show that they are not currently for sale.

Ha, I KNEW there was something fishy about this satochipzz guy. He and I talked in great detail over the past week or so, with him claiming to be a multi-millionaire owning multiple houses and cars around the country
He claimed to own several prominent crypto casinos as well and that he needed liquid bitcoin to fund his casino ventures, with him basically begging me to buy his .1 and 1 BTC gilt BTC coins for next to no premium
For someone of such high "status" I was surprised how eager he was to attempt to a deal for such little bitcoin
He kept asking for my phone number in chat as well to which I refused

if my count is right - he did purchase and pay for and receive 3 coins - at least - that he purchased from users on the forums. These smaller purchases seem now to just have been attempts at establishing a false trust

This is why I am always warning other collectors/producers of this section about "weird users" of the forum. It's really easy to create issues in this section or to create serious problem to the users. Unfortunately not all understand some of these steps.
If this is a real community honest and reliable people MUST help other honest and reliable people. Thanks MML for creating the flag and explain the issue. I am kind surprised someone has sent 0.26 btc without escrow or in advance.
This guy was having 0 trust and was a newbie. Buying items doesn't give any kind of trust in my view...

The buyer was told to not send any advance funds. However, the user satochipzz started talking to the buyer on the side - out of the group - and convinced them to send funds. also worth noting, the user satochipzz has been online numerous times and has yet to comment or address the situation.

If the buyer had listened to your advice not to pay in advance and only pay upon meeting the seller and receiving the coin, he would not have fallen for this scam. I’m sorry for his loss, but he must have learned the lesson now. This serves as a reminder to everyone and to the regulars of the Collectibles section: never pay upfront, don’t trust blindly, and always verify and use escrow.
I have already supported the flag and tagged this scammer’s account, as I know there are many like him on the forum. But it is our role to warn everyone about them so that such incidents do not happen again.

So here is my experience with Sato. He had been making posts on the forum looking for coins to buy. I reached out and offered some BF coins for sale. Right off the bat he was unconventional. He asked for contact info so we could talk on the phone. I initially gave him my email and after a week he purchased a Lealana BF reaper and a lealana brass 0.1. He paid promptly and deal went smooth. He expressed interest in loaded coins, and i told him I didn't have any for sale. I did however give him my phone number. We had two phone calls, one of which lasted an hour where we talked about physical bitcoin. he struck me as someone very excited about our hobby. He was polite and charitable. At one point even offering to send more money than i was asking for the coins. I see now that this was obviously part of his plan to gain trust in the group. After our deal concluded he asked if I would give him positive trust and make a post on the thread about our deal success, which i did. This last Sunday he sent me a message offering me a peeled CAS. He said he wanted to gift me the coin because of our deal and he had about 6 of the coins which I saw a picture of. I told him no, that he didn't have to do that. I said, " If you want to give a coin away why don't you do a free raffle and give it to the community." He thought it was a great idea and asked if Id help him with the raffle. I told him to take the night and think about it and If he still wanted to do the raffle I would set it up for him. On Monday morning he said he wanted to do the raffle but he wanted to give the peeled Lealana away instead of the CAS coin. I did think it was unorthodox that we would give away a coin that he had just bought two weeks before. However, he was sure he wanted to do the raffle and assured me he would produce the coin. On Tuesday morning he sent me tracking information on the peeled Lealana which should arrive Mon or Tuesday. Literally an hour or two later I was made aware of the theft and scam. I locked the raffle temporarily as we wait for more info. I sent Sato a text message which he did not respond too. So providing that the Lealana actually shows up this week I am still planning on giving away the coin to the community. If the coin does not show up I will give away one of my own coins. I feel somewhat responsible to giving trust to a snake in the grass. I've learned that I am probably to trusting of strangers. Even when I received a warning from Mopar and MJ about him being suspicious, I chose to give him the benefit of the doubt. It makes me sad about the state of humanity. I have messages to back up my entire connection with Sato over the last 3 weeks. If your interested in seeing them just ask. Also I'm hoping we can collaborate with information to help the victim get justice. We are the watchers who hold together our hobby.

user may be scamming in multiple areas and may even be tied to recent attempted thefts and actual thefts
1. they have or claim to have been in California (large/huge theft documented there) 2. they posted looking to buy bitcoin with cash and gave a FL number (a theft and multiple attempted thefts have occurred close to the area where this phone number's area code) 3. they have provided a name and address that match county records for that property in Oklahoma 4. they were messaging people here on forums and linking the people he contacted to "his" FB profile for further communication - this FB account is pretty new and is a member of a fb collectibles group headed by 3 other members here - The FB account has a different name than the one they provided for shipping details.
I can understand and appreciate opsec and even respect the desire to try and remain anonymous - then:
1. Don't ask people for their cell numbers 2. Don't link them to fake FB accounts 3. Don't take them out group conversations with escrow agents into private conversations on signal 4. Don't beg for money up front for "travel and hotel expenses" while bragging how rich you are - claimed to have multiple garages full of expensive cars, huge expensive watch collection, 50 acres, selling real estate in multiple states - but can't cover hotel expenses....
if you want opsec - use reshipping services and escrow services - keep yourself and your customers safe.

It really saddens me to hear these stories. We have to listen to those with more experience in the group. It’s very sad, because the whole idea of Bitcoin is that we should be honest. Honestly, it’s disgusting that there are people like that who want to scam or take advantage of others. Regarding the Lealana, the truth is it makes me feel bad. In the end, this kind of thing just makes us lose trust. I would say that if that Lealana ever arrives, it shouldn’t be auctioned, because it wasn’t obtained in good faith. Maybe it was even part of a scam. And don’t feel bad, my friend — you did your best, you wanted to help. You’re not responsible for the malicious actions of others.

he also sent me some very weird generic inquiries if i had casascius coins to sell, with no specific denomination/year/type specified.
not that that is an immediate red flag, but also doesn't seem like the actions of someone serious about spending $100,000...
