Often those people who need help do not receive it. For example, gamblers and betting enthusiasts have a very negative label from society, which finds it much easier to blame the guys in trouble for something they themselves are guilty of than to try to help them.
I have also been in trouble several times and did not receive help. I think we all sometimes need someone to help, the main thing is not to lose faith in people.

In my country, there is a saying: "Do no good - you will not receive evil." It describes a rather complex dynamic of human relations. What am I getting at? Before you stop gambling, try to understand your strategy to see if any strategy is increasing your losses or why luck is not allowing you to win repeatedly. If you can uncover the cause of the addiction, it will be easier to stop gambling and there is a greater chance of not coming back. If you are able to find out the cause of the addiction, it will be easier to stop yourself from gambling immediately and gain the necessary experience to return to this platform.

At some stage of gambling addiction, the person could be truly willing to stop but his willpower alone can not fix things, they need help from third party, it could be their love ones or a psychologist but first thing is for the addicted gambler to agree that you want to change from being addicted. There was some topic before now that tells how some parents stole from their children's savings and somebody like that will continually do such actions without remorse and he will not change unless he also agrees.

Family prefer cure process be slow, painless, merry. I have see times when parents, knowing their child is addicted to gambling, after seeing how he suffers, give him little money for play...

The bad thing about these slow Processes is that things can turn Around and come back , while a faster and more direct path, even if it involves more sacrifice and something painful , is faster , the cure is quicker and in the end that is what matters , that the person has a strong Detoxification so that they know that falling again will bring all that pain , sometimes the human being learns in that way only.

I don't think it's a good idea if you come across to a random guy or even your friends to give them some advice, but I think it's more beneficial if you help him to go for rehab than just counselling him to help him become a better person.

Giving advice won't help much, but for rehab it would help much to get rid of gambling addiction.
However, if there are no rehab facilities nearby, maybe helping him to go for a vacation far from the casino while counselling him might be a good option to help him to get rid of the addiction.

I agree with you going to advise a gambling addict is not a good one especially when you are not familiar with the person or even friends because one thing that you need to know is that an addict sees nothing wrong with what he or she is doing because to him it's about making money.



Gambling addiction is actually not known to the person involved so you trying to talk to such a person may trigger a negative reaction which may even result in a fight because such a person will see you as trying to interfere in his or her personal life matters.

In my experience, there is no point in wasting your time and energy on addicts. Either they will find their own way out of their addiction or they will not. There is nothing outsiders can do to help these kind of people. Worst case they turn you into enablers or drag you into their problems.

Addiction is a disease and if you are not medically trained to handle it, then you should not try and "help".

At least that is what I think. I am sure other people might have different thoughts on the matter.

People who are addicted to gambling want to change their lifestyle through gambling because that is why they are addicted. They think they will get something great from gambling that will change their life. Addiction comes from expectations and greed. Emotion is something that can force you to gamble at any time. Suppose you are browsing social media and you see a gambling ad, then you will feel the urge to gamble if you have a weakness for gambling. Addiction is just madness.

It depends on your relationship with this kind of person. If it were a random guy I met in a casino, I wouldn’t even counsel or give him advice, as I don’t know his temper or character; it’s his own business.

If he is someone close to me and he trusts me, then I will try to give him the best advice that I can provide so he can ease up on his addiction. A person needs to trust you first before they will listen to your advice; you can only advise someone who trusts you or asks you for advice.

In my experience, even the person knows you and you know him very much and he trusts you, if he's not willing to ease his gambling addiction, there is nothing you can do. Especially if that person did not come to you to ask for advice, it just doesn't work, no matter how much advice you give them.

Well, addiction doesn't respond to logic, it just deepens over time and creates an isolation sphere where that person is kept alone. When you are advising them, it can reach their ears. I know it's very hard to see your close one like this, and you have the exact solution, but you can't do anything. If you force it, you will break the relationship, and if not, your friend will be slowly poisoned. In that case, I would say stick by your friend and don't give any type of advice, support him. When you find a moment where he gets tired of the losing streak or anything related to it, that's the time to hit the right spot and advise him slowly over time. I hope that he will pay attention to your words, and when alone, he will think about it.

Yeah most people usually underestimate gambling addiction. Some usually have the mindset that they can never get addicted to it even when they are playing it everyday (which like a sign of one getting addicted)

Fun fact gambling addiction doesn’t just happens once it usually takes time just as are it usually take time for one to get out of it , when you will know is when your losing rate kept increasing day due to non stop betting just to get back those losses . It is very fortunate if a chronic gambler seeks psychological help to save them from immense life pressure. However, there is no guarantee that after recovering, they will stop gambling or be able to control themselves better while gambling. I think that at a certain point, if a gambler has lost a lot of their assets, family, and loved ones, it's better to quit entirely and move to a new environment.

Perhaps only a few people are able to rise again after all their wealth has been spent on gambling. Most would probably accept the reality and be grateful to have survived it all. Sometimes, a chronic gambler even finds it difficult to get a steady job to start a new life. It would be a shame if someone's gambling cycle ended in such a way.

You are absolutely right bud, even the Bible made mention of the fact that there are some things we will do, whether it be mistake or not, and the resulting effect will stay with us till we enter the grave in death..
Addiction to gambling is a serious sickness which any one suffering from it must find a way to cure, else it destroys the person.

And speaking of the addicted person playing their own part in seeing that they get free from the addiction, this is very important as well, when a doctor gives drugs to someone who believe he or she is not sick, he may likely keep the drug without consuming it, this is if he or she even accepts the drugs from the doctor in the first place..
In the process of curing gambling addiction, the first thing is the victim accepting their reality and being eager to adhere to every instruction that would be given to him or her to do.
