It is not fundamentally important here whether you sell the cans (collected) or receive a salary for working in the office. What is important is to do it systematically, for a long time and save money. In this case, buy bitcoin. In parts. And when this lasts for years, then a significantly noticeable amount accumulates, as happened in your story.

There are actually ways to achieve this, one of which is to strengthen discipline in managing expenses, even though they may be very limited. Take advantage of existing opportunities and continue learning, especially regarding technological developments. Learning can come from anywhere, through collaborative spaces and mutually reinforcing communities, which ultimately can change people's mindsets in the long run.
But we must admit that struggling to start over from all the shortcomings is not easy. It requires a very strong spirit of resilience, and a willingness to learn and seize even the smallest opportunity.

I don't believe in frugality, but at near $0 you gotta be frugal. Here's how I would do it. You instantly start looking for better paying jobs, apply everywhere, relocate if you need to even if it means going down to $0 and even if it needs help from friends / government / whomever. Then set aside as much as you can from your paycheck until you reach one goal: that you can comfortably live for a couple of months if you lost your job. In the meantime, you build your options: learn new skills, sales, programming, whatever suits you. There's not much competition at the bottom. You'll easily find yourself in the average earners once you put in the right amount of effort.

Only then, you start investing.

Because to be frankly speaking, with the current rate of Bitcoin been valued at $112,000 per BTC at the moment, let's assume if this user would have accumulated more than half Bitcoin, (i.e 0.5 BTC or 0.7 BTC), if we are to convert that into dollar, then that's roughly over $55,000 to $77,000 he must have accumulated in just 2yrs. I will advice anyone in a campaign and still struggling to invest in bitcoin to see his weekly campaign payments as another means he could DCA or accumulate bitcoins. Instead of withdrawing everything every week, he can save all or part of the bitcoins. If he thinks it's too small, he can still buy more to add to it. Investing in bitcoin should not be made so difficult and stressful, with any small amount, bitcoins can be accumulated.

The main point I can take away is that finding any job that can provide income to survive and allow us to buy more Bitcoin without having to adjust our budget further from our income is certainly a very positive and reasonable thing. Regardless of whether the story about the can hunter is true or not, I personally don't really care because he probably always gets at least hundreds of kilos of cans a week, lol.
