Do Not Update Windows 11 (KB5063878 & KB5062660)

Unfortunately I'm stuck on Windows 10, my PC doesn't allow me to upgrade to 11, I don't want to use the trick because then it won't do the updates for me

What do you mean by trick? Technically even though it says it doesn't support win 11, you can just make a bootable pendrive with win 11 iso and install win 11 on your pc. But that would be another topic.

Geez. All these issues with Windows 11 and how Windows 10 is soon getting zero updates, man, I miss the days when all we had to worry about was what theme we would use the next day for our Windows XP.

Ahh those were golden days! I still remember we didn't had internet back in the days and I would messing around with all the setting I could find, explore all the folders! Maybe it's time for us to shift to "sudo apt upgrade" and say farewell to Windows

I have 6 hard drives. Each has its own operating system. One is Ubuntu. One is Mint. 3 are Linux Lite. One is Windows 10. They all have to take their turn on one box, although I have a backup box.

Just one question!

Why 6 harddrives? I have 2 SSD's and that is well above my daily needs!

Just a hold-over from the days when Ubuntu was too unstable to depend on.

This windows 10 and 11 is so complicated and got issues, EVen the settings of video of classic games we had.
I hope this W11 will be good before they kill the w10.

From what I've researched some months ago on the topic you need to trick Win11 installer (regedit, not tried) or get directly a hacked one (bad idea, obviously not tried) in order to install on a computer with too old CPU.
I would be overly surprised if the official Win11 ISO would work out of the box on an older PC just because it's installed from an USB stick.

From what I've researched some months ago on the topic you need to trick Win11 installer (regedit, not tried) or get directly a hacked one (bad idea, obviously not tried) in order to install on a computer with too old CPU.
I would be overly surprised if the official Win11 ISO would work out of the box on an older PC just because it's installed from an USB stick.

I have tested the bootable usb stick on my old device before (old cpu but not older), where windows would say "Your system doesn't meet the minimum requirements for Win 11 upgrade". And it worked despite the message, and now if you meant CPU like a decades old, pentinum duel core or something like those, that I'm not sure of.

Back to the main topic, SSD's are still being dead by this update! I wonder why Microsoft doesn't remove/stop with this version until everything is sorted. I saw some people still complaining in a pc related group, two days ago that, their SSD is dead, and showing as Generic, or isn't accessable anymore.

I'm better off with my potato laptop running Windows 10.  .....
In the meantime, I also thinking that I would shift to Windows 11. However, if I had shifted now, I would have probably installed the latest version. Thanks for your information.

Bumping....

We have a new update regarding the situation. A few days ago, it was reported that the root cause of this issue originated from a pre-released engineering firmware (not the final firmware) on certain SSD models, and when win 11 updates were applied the bug got triggered!

Still, it's better to not update windows for a certain time,until more tests are done! Who knows what will happen! It's windows we are talking about! I have already paused mine for 5 weeks!

Nope you won't end up with all of these updates! Ever the ISO (Win11_23H2_English_x64, not the 24H2 since it is buggy) file doesn't contain them AFAIK. I recently re-installed win 11, so I know how it is. After the installation, you start updating the missing drivers to the latest one. And the meantime, windows starts downloading those updates (quality, definition, driver, & other updates) in the background.

Anyway, Linux would be the best choice for your potato! Any flavour of it I'm sure!
