When miners are forced to use solar only, then mining capacity will probably reduce at first, because some regions do not have enough sunlight to rely on or even the infrastructure to support it. There will be the possibility of driving smaller miners away then making mining lots more centralized around where solar is available. With time, yes, it may make Bitcoin to be more sustainable and seem to strengthen it image as "legit money",thereby raising its worth and appeal. Therefore short-term interruption; long-term, when miners adapt could turn positive.

If governments forced miners to use solar energy only, would Bitcoin become more sustainable and valuable, or would it reduce mining capacity drastically?
Guess what? renewable energy is affecting the government partially so they will not try to push bitcoin mining to use renewable energies only but they will want to complain just to cut percentage or tax the miners that's just about it.

But however, it will only be an opportunity for others to try out there experiments on what will be able to power bitcoin mining farms strongly and had no side effect on the environment as those who are not able to find something to complain about bitcoin did.

How can the government even do that?

If they did then it would not help but rather hurt the mining economy. Countries where sunlight is poor but temp is cold are a good place to mine but then it would become impossible to mine there. Only those people living in hot tropics would get the chance but again to maintain ambient cooler temp they would have to spend more.

So in my guess it would badly affect the capacity.

This is not possible, all governments in the world can not think the same. When China banned bitcoin mining that time in 2021 or so, it was an opportunity for country like Kazakhstan which encouraged bitcoin mining and the country is using coal for energy generation. Know that if a country say something, another country may say another thing.

What if some big economy made it mandatory to do mining only using solar energy ? Will it have any impact on bitcoin ?

Just know that the big economies like the United States and China can not make such law. But their government will prefer to moved towards green energy instead totally and not just about bitcoin. I mean the countries will prefer to move towards green energy instead of that. Also it is good to know that there are other green energies. Example of other green energies are hydroelectric power plants and wind turbines.

If the government's reason for forcing miners to use only solar energy is because of green energy then I think that's wrong. Because we can see that there are so many green energy sources and even renewable energy sources that can be used for Bitcoin mining. So I think this is impossible to happen as there are still many natural resources that can be used as energy sources and I even see the hydropower is already being used in the automotive world. This means that Bitcoin mining can be done using hydropower. And I think the world has begun to switch to using electrical energy that can be obtained from various energy sources. But I personally prefer the use of volcanic geothermal energy, where it was ever used by El Salvador for Bitcoin mining because it seems to make good use of existing natural energy sources. So I think there is no reason for the government to force Bitcoin miners to only use solar energy for mining.

bruh, Bitcoin gets roasted for energy use from very begining, however nobody yells at fu*kin banks, gold miners or tech giants who burn way more power behind the scenes Undecided. you know fu*kin banking uses 2-56× Undecided more energy than BTC & gold mining eats nearly twice what we does. why they do not tell them to use solar energy!

In any case a mining mandate that only uses solar power is wtf policy. you know miners seek the cheapest, frequently stranded or curtailed juice, so Bitcoin's power mix already consists of 40%+ renewables, with the remaining 40% coming from a combination of gas, nuclear, hydro & wind. if you force only solar nukes power to remain operational unless you install large batteries then there is possiblity lowers hashrate & compromises security. if you ask me i will say miners are the actual grid winners cause i even seen them to use ERCOT demand-response to save energy & always think how to minimise energy costing.. Do you want more green Bitcoin? then encourage flexibility & curtailed/stranded energy rather than imposing rules.

This is not possible because all governments for countries are different, they can't all come together and force miners to quit using the grid power, also miners are paying electricity bills normally, it's only those who are bypassing and stealing grid power that will be prosecuted. A president or the government of a country can make this happen for one reason or the other but it will end with the country, it's not a problem to other countries.

Let's say it's possible for once, the Bitcoin mining hasharate will dump heavily, maybe for some months but later it will slowly go back up, miners will have to start using green energy and mind you some people are already using this idea, it won't be a surprise for them. To be realistic it's never going to happen.

If governments forced miners to use solar energy only, would Bitcoin become more sustainable and valuable, or would it reduce mining capacity drastically?
Mining requires a lot of electricity and fuel, which can create an electricity crisis in a country, which is why the government recommends using solar energy as an alternative to electricity.
Solar energy is a renewable energy source, so its source will not run out easily, so using solar energy will reduce the pressure on electricity for mining. I think there is no alternative to solar energy to address the energy and electricity crisis, so it is reasonable for the government to push for the use of solar energy in this Bitcoin mining. This will greatly reduce the mining cost and there is a possibility of higher profits from mining than before.
