Awesome Giveaway! ⚡️

The first time I discovered Bitcoin was in 2017—someone I went to college with was talking to me about Bitcoin, and I believe it was hitting all-time highs at the time.

A funny mistake I made was not listening to him at the time. It was not until 2018 that I realized its potential, and I actually realized this when I came up with the philosophy that in order to understand/have money, you must know the history of it. So, I studied the lore and legend of money and inevitably stumbled across Bitcoin again.

My proudest moment was between 2020 and 2025. I dove deep into Bitcoin in 2018 and 2019, and it exploded soon after. I did really well, and it changed my life. I also discovered physical Bitcoin in 2018. The concept for VIP Physical Bitcoins was actually created in 2020. I started “BitVIPCoins” in 2023, although my first release of VIP Physical Bitcoins was in 2024. It just keeps getting better the more I dive into the space.

Bitcoin is the future. It’s a standard to which governments should adhere. It makes them accountable. If the current situation continues—endless inflation—Bitcoin will inevitably go to infinity as well.

Thanks for letting me share & for hosting this sweet giveaway!

I started 2017 in the beginning of the Bull Run. Was targeted by an ad for scam project called Plexcoin. Loved the energy and all the things blockchain promised to solve so even first one was a scam I was hooked.
Found the Collectable and service boards very interesting for me. Got some small "jobs" on service board where I learned about blockchain and got a NFTs and tokens to fill the different wallets.
Sometimes even liquid value I used to collect Bitcoin collectibles.
Been around 8 years, had fun and learned much.

Like most others I remember wallet I had very very early in BTC history. Even I know I don't have it any more I search my old harddrives 1 time a year just in case I find it number 100 time I search for it.

Great idea for a givvy, thanks for hosting it!

The first time you discovered Bitcoin:
Was back around 2011-2012, I was learning about Java browser exploits in IE and stumbled across .onion/dark web/silk road. It was certainly an interesting place...

A funny mistake you made along the way:
Not sure it's funny but it's certainly a mistake. I started down the road of attempting to mine Bitcoin, had a decent gaming rig at the time and left it running for awhile. However, once I saw what BTC was used for at the time and it's value at the time, I had little interest in it and didn't pay much attention to any coins I mined and had since upgraded my computer by time I realized my error.

Your proudest Bitcoin moment:
That would probably be from an unintentional hold. I bought a small amount of BTC in an semi-early coinbase wallet, got locked out of it, only to recall the wallet info down the road years later. It was certainly a nice treat to be able to access again!

Why you believe in Bitcoin’s future:
Current countries monetary systems are so broken, Bitcoin gives me hope for the average citizen to be able to use Bitcoin as a vital tool to help utilize their income in a much more effective and life positive manner.

Good luck everyone!  Cool

Thanks for hosting this giveaway f*D.

I don't have an exciting orange pilled story, unfortunately.
My Bitcoin journey started before I made an account on bitcointalk. I was a long time lurker here. I found a bit of a home in the collectibles section after I joined to buy a CryptoArt print from MinerJones. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here and look forward to more fun times with the OG's, regulars, newbies, and casual passersby.

Here are a few of my fun, memorable, and proud moments:

I started with Bitcoin at the end of 2016, Myself and a friend were chatting and he
mentioned Bitcoin and that I should get into it. I was skeptical and said "ok, but I'm
only putting €100 euro into it"

I had heard about Bitcoin before that, around 2014 I recon, and had passed it off as
something to do with gamers.

That little story is a lesson to dive right into Bitcoin rather than sticking you big toe in!

After joining the forum here in 2017 I soon forun the collectibles board and my
first collectible was from Polymerbit.

The first time I discovered Bitcoin was like 2012 early 2013. I found in some article the news about "bitcoin production".
I tried to find a miner on ebay but I immediately give up.
Few months later (October 2013, I was still living with my ex wife Cheesy ) after a dinner I read the news about Wilkileaks accepting payment in btc to substitute card system.
I find this really curious ("Ah this is real money "...) I decide to understand better.
At that time I was a researcher in university, pubblishing a lot of papers, posters for conferences... I stumbled across the white paper of Satoshi and ... after reading I was shocked.
"Some one has published this, and NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT?"
Immediately I made my first "investement" in virwox. Yeah, as you may know academics are literally poor in Italy so I can just "invest" a bit of poverty into this Roll Eyes .

A funny mistake I made along the way... ONE? TONS of this... I would say that probably the funny part has been to spend some of earnings for having fun Cheesy
I would say mistake because maybe the "quick profit" nowadays would be a MASSIVE profit...

My proudest Bitcoin moment, I am not feeling proud for nothing. I don't see anything that deserve to be proud.I am just to feeling proud to don't get in compromise in nothing in my life. I am proud to act as honest person, citizen even honest collector of bitcoin items. btc has been a great tool for this. for sure a great help but even a great life lesson since internet is still a new instruments so many new things will arrive soon...

How Bitcoin Changed My Life & The first time I discovered Bitcoin

In 2016, I was deep into my doctorate program, drowning in research papers and ramen noodles, when a colleague leaned over after class and whispered, “Have you heard of Bitcoin?”

At the time, it sounded like science fiction—a fringe currency no one on campus really understood, let alone trusted. But curiosity got the better of me. I scraped together $800, nearly emptying my savings as a broke student, and bought a single Bitcoin.

That single step sent me tumbling down the rabbit hole. I read whitepapers instead of textbooks, watched markets instead of movies, and before long, I was maxing out my credit cards to accumulate more. It was reckless, maybe even foolish, but something told me this was bigger than anyone around me realized.

Once I was hooked, I found ways to keep stacking no matter what. I ran garage sales, picked up tutoring gigs, and scraped together nearly every dollar from my part-time job—stretching my living expenses to the bare minimum, living like a broke college student for years—just so I could buy more Bitcoin. Month after month, I added to my stash, convinced I was building something for my future while most people laughed it off.

By the time I turned 26, that gamble had transformed into a dream: I sold part of my Bitcoin holdings and purchased my first house—something I never imagined possible at that age.

What began as a whispered tip in a classroom became the foundation of my financial freedom. Bitcoin didn’t just change my portfolio; it rewrote the story of my life.

2012:
I just moved to a new city in to start a new job, I went for some beers with my new colleagues and some other guys from their network. One guy told me about bitcoin, apparently he and a bunch of the guys in that group had bought already, he had around 1000. I was staying in a hostel since I had just arrived in town to start working, the guy offered me to rent a room in his flat. I was not into shared apartments so declined.
2013:
I learnt about the silk road and bought my first bitcoin to get some weed. I paid $96 for it. I got the weed. The whole thing was incredible, it truly was magic internet money and it had actual value. BTC started spiking and reached $1'000 and I thought I was already late.
2014:
The guy I met quits working, he'd rather cash out the BTC and run a bar that working the 9 to 5 he hated. MT Gox hack happens, BTC goes to hell.
.
.
2016:
I've been following BTC for a few years now and start truly studying it. I'm really convinced about it being a superior form of money. I pull the trigger and buy as much as I can. BTC was something around $600.
I started mining with 2 antminers.
.
<cryptowinter, FTX and other shyte goes here>
.
2025:
I'm a hardcore hodler and sat stacker. Price swings have little to no effect on me. The private keys of my multisig cold wallet are deposited in several bank vaults. I work my 9 to 5 to pay my bills, my mortgages and stack sats with any leftover savings. I don't torture myself much with the what-if I had bought in 2012. Some guys from this group are no longer working, but it's difficult to know if I would have hodl for so long in that case. I've a price in mind at which it probably doesn't make sense to keep on working but for the time being I have peace of mind of being able to pay all my mortgages off should I need it and I'm happy about the generational wealth I've built for my family.  Smiley

The first time you discovered Bitcoin:

I was in NY with my foreign exchange friend and host family showing him America and someone came up to me in central park and told me about bitcoin and asked me if I wanted to buy some, I was vetoed by the host parents who told me it was a scam and hurried us on our way. I was handing them $20 to get it and the host family HOH snatched my $20 from my hand! Freaking Joe lol I would be rich right now 😂

A funny mistake you made along the way: Hmmm okay I was convinced that Ledger was going to be hacked during their controversial 3rd party custodial seed phrase bs or something and I transferred all of my shit during the highest fees ever on BTC network I think. To move all of my stuff at the time I think the fee was like .01 BTC or something stupid like that. Knowing I was out of ledger to a safer choice though was worth it at the time I was so stressed about it and did not trust them.

Your proudest Bitcoin moment: I think just capitalizing on a whole industry while I was working in Telecom. At the time it was 2018 and Bitcoin ATMs were on the rise- I sold so many routers to be placed in the BTMs and made a ton of money by cornering the market and getting all the leads just for myself. I was known at my company as the "Resident Bitcoin Expert" as my VP once introduced me to some big wig visiting our office once, It was pretty cool.

Or why you believe in Bitcoin’s future: I think that everyone here understands Bitcoins place in finance and why we all need BTC. Its a beacon of financial freedom and it is monetary revolution. Im glad to be an adopter and believer of it 😌

Back in 2017, I was working for a production company in a coworking space. Early that year, one of the coworkers started talking about this strange currency called Bitcoin. To be honest, it sounded weird and a bit scammy. I thought it was something like a centralized video game currency — you know, like the shiny coins in Mario Bros or something.

But in November of that year, one of my best friends brought it up again and tried to explain it to me. I started doing my own research and, like many others, something clicked. I began to understand it (not everything, of course, but the basics). Someone had created a digital asset that couldn’t be duplicated. Incredible. The peer-to-peer aspect was key for me, since I had always been interested in this system.
Another thing that struck me was the mystery around its creator — how could someone stay anonymous in the age of Facebook?

That’s when I decided to make a documentary series about Satoshi Nakamoto and Bitcoin. The idea was to show how it worked and the motivations behind it — to go a bit further than the usual “speculation,” “bubble,” or “it’s killing the oceans” narrative.

It took me four years, and in November 2021 the series was released on Arte, a European channel. It reached several million views across platforms and won three awards.
This was my proudest Bitcoin moment Smiley
