Many times we are seen to be cheated in some way through phishing links. There, the fraudster makes a tempting offer and creates a phishing link below. If someone enters the links without understanding, then there is a risk of stealing all the information on their phone.
Today I will describe three techniques on how we can stay safe from all these phishing links and unsafe links.
If you are an Android user, you can set Google Safe Browsing in your browser to stay safe from unsafe and phishing links.
How to set Google Safe Browsing:
Open Chrome → Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top right → Go to setting option → Scroll down to find Privacy and security and tap it → You will find it there “Safe Browsing” → Three options will appear, select “Enhanced protection” from there.
Now you are somewhat safer from scams, phishing, and malware websites.
You can also verify the authenticity of the link by using tools to identify scam and phishing links. Below are three such verification tools:
1.
Google Transparency Report Here you can check if any website link is safe or not.
2.
VirusTotalWith this, the link you provide is checked with 50+ antivirus engines to see if the link is safe.
3.
URLVoidWith this, the link you provide is checked with 50+ antivirus engines to see if the link is safe.
3.
URLVoidThis link can also be used to verify whether the given link is fraudulent or not.
There are also some general aspects that we can easily stay safe from unsafe links like phishing links by keeping an eye on them. For example, checking the spelling of the URL carefully. Many times, it is seen that the spelling of the URL of phishing links is different from the spelling of the real URL.
Again, you need to pay close attention to HTML. Safe sites usually start with https:// and have a 🔒 lock icon next to them, but if it is http://, it is definitely risky.
By using all these tools, you can keep your internet browsing safe.
We hope you will share with us the methods you use for safe browsing on the internet.
