(Whenever I sit down to write a post or PM these days, I always get about 20% of the way through, and then I sigh deeply and think, "Why am I even trying?". I don't know why talking to you guys has become so pointless-seeming, but, it has. Writing this post was its own little exercise in tenacity, and it took around 2 weeks of on-and-off effort and revisions before I finally gave up, deleted most of it, and decided to just mix a few keepable paragraphs with some lightly-edited "off the cuff" thoughts. Anyway, I've done my best to come across as polite and constructive.)

Sometimes things we have given our all and love tend to disappoint us
Just have a little patience
I believe it would get better.

I still have some questions and possible suggestions which are quite similar to what I posted here few months ago.

1. The proposal doesn't really answer the major issue the merit system is facing. Merit Farming.
Even with said ratio for deranking, individuals can still help keep their rank afloat.

2. On generic posts, merit isn't really synonymous with quality
There are users I have seen with less merit That their post shows they deserve more while others reverse is the case (we have more of this)

3. My number 2 was brought up because relying on merit as measurement carries same flaws that merit did.

4. First is to tackle merit abuse to make the proposal cleaner.

5. I don't know if you have seen this thread by Vod Announcing ShadowPulse - a Bitcointalk Alternative Recogition Tool it has a nice ring to it though if downvotes and Would be made transparent like the merit system.

It's interesting but it will only mean less traffic and not better quality traffic.

It is easy to game.  Find and pay a few merit sources give them the names you want to get a merit per nine posts.

So a farm of 10 heros making 45 posts each week need 10x5=50 merits

50 merits given In a week to the same 10 accounts is easy to disguise if you are using 3 sources.

So you get 450 lower quality posts
Yeah maybe a few farms leave but some will try to  contact sources to buy their way out of the issue

I miss the days when I would report hundreds of accounts and Mods would actually get rid of the bad ones (after checking them). I don't get why Bitcointalk is now so lenient on (mindless) chatbot plagiarism, but it's very demotivating for humans to have to wade through bots.
But worse than that: it makes me fear the future of Bitcointalk. Lazy dumb chatbot spam will only become more accessible, and as long as there's money to be made I expect the usage to increase until the Dead Internet theory becomes a reality.

I really miss the days without AI crap
I see people use this tools more and more for all kind of abuse trickery, and I am sure government and military used this tools for decades before releasing it in public.
Future for all forums is not looking good, and I have no idea how to remain minimum of healthy conversation... except maybe moving more to Ivory Tower and similar boards.
