I don't know what that means?   Huh

But if you're setting up a fantasy football pool in BTC, I'm in!   Cool

So we could play with strangers, betting BTC, and not worry about crappy commissioners not paying out.

Anyone who has played fantasy knows a shitty commish ruins the league.

Fantasy is actually a great application for BTC because the transactions are transparent and can be made executable.

Everything about it.  Could have executable mini payouts throughout the season.

This is a super sweet idea...it demands software to support cryptocurrency transactions being carried out depending on league results, fully automated.

Definitely.  You can have prop or side bets with eachother too, and have the commissioner hold the bet amount in escrow.

Alot of possibilities.

Cant you just do a paid league on Yahoo and avoid the issue of not having commissioners paying out?  You could use bitcoin and create a multi-sig escrow for your entire league if you are just using a free espn league.

Yeah but...cryptocurrency.

I'm thinking of a little module that "holds" the btc and uses multisig and fancy transaction scrips to pay out based on API calls.  So ESPN or whatever wouldn't necessarily have to support it.

I'm not a lead dev but I'll contribute like mad to the project if someone is good enough to get it going.

This seems indeed very interesting but so many problems with developing it ...
Security - would be main problem and most hard to make it "no problem".
But this is possible for sure.

So any devs here interested in this project? Smiley It might get some donations Tongue

Sounds like a great idea and I'm interested as long as the stakes aren't very high.  I'm a fan of some competitions in the forum.  I just love the idea of dominating people here with my fantasy foolball skills and taking the coins at the same time = priceless. Grin

how do you mean trustless?

cryptocurrency is trustless.  If you play fantasy with friends, you usually have to trust that they pay the commissioner and that the commish will pay out.

Not the case with bitcoin.  You could play for money with random people who you dont have to trust at all.

but isn't it the same

if you play something for bitcoins you have to trust the other person that he will send the coins and if you want to make sure you'll have a comminssioner and that you'll have to pay

No its verifiable in the blockchain.  The algorithm will send transactions to winners based on the NFL API.  Ideally.  I'm saying its possible.

If by football you mean the european one, and by fantasy football you mean mostly Premier League, then this is a great idea.
