Have been receiving PM with malicious invites to run scripts and access illicit websites. I want others to know about it, and also I want others to openly shoot out scammers in this thread, so people can stay away from interacting with such accounts.

This topic will be for showcasing the behavior of scammers, so others might avoid them. Edit your posts and images to remove any harmful links or other content the scammers are promoting. I suggest anyone new to learn about BT trust and use accordingly, it's a powerful feature.

There is an old list which was created in 2019.

It was last updated in 2020 and there are more scammers appeared and disappeared in this forum since 2020.

TalkStar was last actively in the last year so it's quite small chance that he will update that thread again.

Thanks for pointing it out. Renamed this topic accordingly + v2.0 to point out and publicly shame scammers after 2020. I like the method of listing them all in the first post. I'll keep this post updated if others start reporting scammers.

Thanks for your effort, but I do not actually see the essence of this thread imo.
Take lotfiuser for instance, he has about -9 If anyone will continue to have a business deal with him after seeing such amount of -ve feedback, I am sorry to say, this thread cannot save the person.

Truth is that, one cannot be saved if it has already been scammed. This is an intent to educate users about different type of scammers happening around here, and most important learn about how the trust system work, as I find it a valuable feature. there's any topic that describe how it works and how to best make use of it? Any other topic that is worth to mention in this context for it to be read?

It would be interesting to hear from TalkStar about his experience and know if it was useful to anyone.

Since lotfiuser appears to be targeting newbies as well, I think the other appropriate thing to do would be to create a flag on his profile, but it seems no one has created a scam accusation against him, so the thread could act as reference.

It also seems he has been sending random members unsolicited messages lately, so the account is likely to get banned if those members tried to report those messages. That would be good news in general if he got banned.

Also, such topics require you to reserve some more post spaces for newer updates. Trust me, that first page is going to get full if you regularly update it

You are right, it will be filled really easy if people know they should report such things to mods and have this a safer space for everyone. Your comment give me the idea to add {number of reporters} that will indicate and link to posts on this or topic. Hopefully users will report scammers in this topic or, better, directly to mods. I'm glad there's always a "Report to moderators" button on the bottom-right of each post. ↘️

Temporary ban, I guess. Because I can still see his signature, which means he isn't permanently banned yet also there's no info about ban in the modlog as far as I have checked.

Quite possibly. That's what I wrote, that it is "currently" the user is banned. And whether it is temporary or not, this question can only be answered by global moderators or administrators.

There are hundreds of proven scammers, and it will take a long time for someone to compile the entire list. As for scammers who try to scam people in private messages, people should report these scammers. I don't remember if I ever received such PMs before. I assume I didn't, or else I would have reported them on the reputation board.

I assume you are expecting people to report similar incidents in this thread, as others are reporting spammers, plagiarists, and others. Wish you good luck and I hope this will be useful for the community. New scammers will continue to join BT and try new ways to screw people. Ideally, users with negative trust are already flagged as scammers. The goal here is to identify new scammers and ideally help users recognize and avoid interacting with them.

The idea is that if multiple users report the same scammer publicly could help keep track of it and have mods flagging or banning.

If this topic will be not useful, I guess it will be dusted and forgiven... no issue with that. It's an intent, we will see if it is useful or not.

The ban doesn't show up in modlog, which means it must be temporary. That's disappointing for a PM scam spammer.

 It seems to me that everything is already working and fine. If someone receives an unclaimed PM and it is clearly fraudulent, they need to report it. Moderators react on their own. If it is a virus, the user is usually banned. Why post here, after all the manipulations, something that has already been processed? And yes, maybe it will work, but you did not leave space for a list of these scammers, since I doubt that people will scroll through dozens of pages to read the list. The trust of these scammers already says everything, even with a reference link. If users are not satisfied with the warning from DT and do not listen to the fact that it is dangerous to make any transactions with this user, then no one will be able to protect them.

Okay, I can partially agree with this new perspective of yours - that the thread can serve as an awareness thread for newbies to know different type of scams and avoid them. But for sure, I know this thread is not going to save anyone from being scammed.

If anything, casually maintained lists like this (one scammer!) can help someone get scammed when they don't see a particular name on that list.  Unless you want to stay on top of such a list and be prepared for many personal attacks, it's best not to create it.

when I created the list https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5556859.0 I inserted 2-3 items and then continued to add and update
Instead OP added only one person and disappeared without adding or updating the list

the suspicion is that it is just a personal attack or revenge

There was this guy that goes around sending people unsolicited PMs about account sales, I forgot his name because I have not sent to me but I know he should be on this least as I see him as a scammer. Maybe someone who have actually received such PM can confirm the name, a lot of people have received it.

I am also wandering why the names of some bounty managers that are known thieves are not on that least. Some of them that steal funds given for them to pay bounty and cook up excuses, a lot of them have been reported in the past.

Where I supposed to take the complete list of scammers? The old post is unmaintained.. should that list be added here and keep maintaining it?
